If I were to break this particular fight down, I'd simply look at their weaknesses to determine the winner.
Both have crappy stamina, even there.
Khan is probably faster early, advantage Khan.
Both have been stopped, but Jones once while Khan has been stopped twice & wobbled countess other times, advantage Jones.
Neither really fight on the inside but Khan has shown severe flaws there, advantage Jones.
Khan was long at 140 but Jones is a humongous welterweight. Advantage Jones.
From that & more, I don't see how Khan beats Jones with just his handspeed early considering his footwork is laughable. He won't get in range of the Jones long jab & straight right hand. I think he gets destroyed again.
Plus if you really look at Khan he is basically a welterweight on fight night. He won't be competitive if he doesn't gain any weight over night.
Only Khan knows how he feels at different weights, I don't. If he feels better at 147 then he should fight there. If he feels good at 140 then he should stay there.
I don't think Khan should go to 147 unless he just can't make 140 and feel strong. They hit 7 pounds harder at 147 and Khan's weak chin has a bullseye on it. As for the fight I think it's even. If Khan does not get hurt he should win it. If Jones hurts him he will finish him. That's how I see it.
Thing is, people said the exact same thing when he moved to 140. "If he's getting knocked out at 135, he won't be able to handle 140."
Khan doesn't have much a choice, he's going to outgrow 140 soon, if he hasn't already. So head to 147, and let's see how he does. Jones would be a good opponent for a first welterweight fight, because he isn't much better than average.
I'm sorry, I got my Jones mixed up. I was thinking of the Jones that fought Brooks. Khan's chances against Mike Jones would also be about even depending on how much the KO losses they both took hurt them. Jones has the reach, speed, and skill to compete with Khan at long range. Either man could score a KO.

Maybe worth taking into consideration that Khan has only fought 3 guys his own height and those guys were Prescott, Garcia & Peterson.
How tall is Mike Jones? 6ft? 6ft1?
Whilst Khan has fought better competition they have been made to order, you maybe impressed by him beating defensive midgets & a few slow plodders/zombies, I'm not.
Mike Jones is a more polished, bigger version of Khan with a better chin & more pop. The more I think about it, the more I feel Jones would slaughter him.
I'm not that far from the same conclusion. But :
Khan does have wins over Kotelnyk, Malignaggi and Maidana and fought a very close fight with Peterson, who seems to be generally well regarded.
Not saying Jones couldn't beat the same or better, but he hasn't....and he did just get KTFO by Randall Bailey...
Jones isn't that good. You could see after the first Soto karasz fight
I think that fight ruined him tbh
After that he changed his style & relied on his boxing a lot more. He looked crap in the rematch & against Lujan and against Bailey.
That fight against Karass really won me over as a Karass fan, that guy is nails.

This is probably too dangerous a fight for Khan to take as his first fight at 147
and coming off a KO loss, but were this to be their respective comeback-from-getting-KTFO fight :
How many guys has Khan fought where he didn't have a reach and height advantage? Also, how much, if any, of a speed advantage would Khan have?
Point being that there are some advantages that Khan has become accustomed to enjoying that would be absent or diminished here.
On the other hand, he has more big-fight experience and might be more comfortable at the new weight.
Kind of want to say Khan might enjoy some measure of an edge in skill, but he keeps getting in trouble with guys he's supposed to beat and Mike Jones seems to be a pretty good boxer/puncher type fighter.
The big difference that I see is quality of opposition. Amir has been in the ring with far better fighters, but is coming off losses to 2 of the better names on his resume, one right after the other.
I guess for me, Khan is a slight favorite in a good fight in which I'd be rooting for his opponent.
I made a thread about this fight a while ago...only a few hit it up though....I think Khan fits the type of fighter Mike can shine against....there's bigger punchers at 140 than Danny....but there's no bigger puncher at 147 than Bailey.....Mike's chin holds up against any other WW imo....Mike handles Khan's speed with his jab and catches Khan midway through....Khan does the dance and yall know how it goes from there....one of Khan's most underrated weapons at 140 is his size....all the dudes he's fought at that weight mentioned how big he was afterwards.....that bought the comment from Danny's dad about Khan not being so big after the last fight
I think this fight will forever be a fantasy scrap...I'm cool with that
mike jones would knock him out. much more intelligent, well rounded and skillful fighter. he would expose khans flaws and tear him apart.
I'm with you guys. I really don't think Khan is that big, 1st & foremost. But like you said my bwoy, to talk about this fight now makes a tad more sense than before they both got stopped.
Anyway, Khan is long, but he isn't that big as proven by the 7/8lb's he re hydrates to on fight night. His biggest advantage is his length at 140. Mike has him there. I think Jones fights tall & stops him inside the distance.

Im not so sure I agree with him being much more intelligent and rounded and skillful. Its easy to be smarter then Khan as he's pretty thick, but I think they are quite equal when they are balanced out.
Until recently I would have favoured Khan, but i would say it's a 50/50 fight now. Both guys are flawed and have skills, but maybe a small edge goes to Jones on size alone.

Khan wins UD or late TKO, but this fight wont happen, Golden Boy and Team Khan are just milking Khan to get the most out of him in the next couple of years.
Khan has said he wants to stay at 140 and regain his belts, but Schaefer has contradicted him and said his next fight will be v the winner of Alexander/Bailey for the IBF title at 147.
Expect Khan v Alexander, then possibly Kell Brook or Paul Malignaggi, before talks start again of a fight between Mayweather v Khan for late 2013.
Everyone is talking about Khan leaving Freddie, Khan needs to leave Team Khan back in the UK and make his own decisions, you cant exactly leave Golden Boy but ditch Team Khan.
I really do hope Bailey wins, what I would give just to see one Bailey right hand connect on Khans chin.

Good fight!
A very interesting fight.
I think they have similar styles, with Khan having an edge in handspeed, Jones being the bigger, stronger punching guy more proven at the weight.
Tough fight to call, both IMO have stamina issues but I'd probably have to lean towards Jones to stop Khan.
I really do not think Khan would do well at 147.
