Andy lee has a:
- Big enough name to command attention and credibility.
- Strong enough chin that he was able to allow Chavez Jr to show off his full arsenal over several rounds.
- Big heart/pride that would cause him to fight bravely until the very end.(allowing for an eventful stoppage instead of the lesser fighter defensively fighting scared)
- Good enough punch that would gain Chavez Jr credit to his chin.(despite not consistently landing clean)
- Mediocre endurance and mobility allowing Chavez Jr. to look comparatively and relatively fast.
The perfect matchup for the superior fighter to look better than he actually is.
Chavez Jr. has improved leaps and bounds over the fighter boxing circles scoffed at only a year or two ago. However nothing he or Martinez has done in recent fights changes the fact that Martinez is a P4P fighter and Chavez Jr is just a good champion.
Stopping Lee is what created the illusion that Chavez Jr is capable of beating, for some even knocking out Sergio Martinez. The reality is Martinez is going to school and seriously hurt Chavez Jr. And no, constantly displaying Chavez Sr. at press conferences will do nothing to help his son in the ring. Much has been done to prop up Chavez Jr.'s aura and image. Unfortunately for him, it won't be enough because he is massively outclassed by Martinez. Expect to see Martinez timing Chavez perfectly after a round or two and for Chavez to look confused and plodding. It's two of the best fighters in the division, so credit to them for cutting the bull**** and making the fight happen. Good luck to both men!
The difference between Pac - Margarito and this one is that Pac was fighting an old washed up weight drained hasbeen whereas Chavez junior is young at his best and allowed to weigh in at what he wants on fight night with no repercussions. It seems he can avoid drugs test and weighing gloves etc so he has alot of advantages going into this fight.
I see it being close because of that but they are on different planets when it comes to class. Regardless how old Sergio is he has too much skill to lose this one.
Hmmm, lets see....Martinez had 16 fights of TOTAL experience before that fight. No amateur background, no experience at all prior to 21 years of age and you guys using this fight as your "leverage" need to watch that fight in case you have never seen it. Martinez was whooping the crap out of Margarito until the 6th round when he stood and tried to trade with him, he didn't get KO'd the ref called it when he was pinned against the ropes.
Now fast forward 12 years and he went 9 years without a loss (the lone loss he did have was pretty much a gift to the then "HBO" fighter Williams), that's 29 fights without a loss. The lone draw he got in that stretch should have been a KO win for him against another "HBO" fighter at the time in Cintron.
Now he moves up in weight and breaks the MW champion of the world to pieces...a guy that is 4 inches taller than him and outweighed him by 11 pounds on fight night...much like Chavez will. He sliced that guy's face up like a Ginsu going through a sirloin steak and he has a MUCH better defense than Chavez "my chin is granite so I don't need to block" jr does.
Your boy is going to get a broken nose after only a few rounds and realize that he can't successfully get to Martinez due to his vast experience and longer reach. Julio also won't see any of Martinez' punches coming at him from the odd angles that Sergio throws them at, he will get caught flush numerous times and get hurt, possibly dropped.
You should not put so much faith a guy because of his size...Margarito didn't fair too well against Pacquiao did he? That is the fight you should use as your barometer for this one.
This right here^^^^^ it's like u read my mind man

I don't believe I've seen enough from Chavez Jr. to draw that conclusion. Personally. Nice points otherwise.
Just my opinion, but to me it appears that way because his recent batch of opponents have tried to change their game and be defensive counter punchers.
I'm not sure if Jr. can do that (or should do that) and Sergio shines against fighter's with leaky defences.
Martinez, if anything is an 'aware' fighter who capitalises on opportunities and doesn't shrink in the spotlight at all.
I predict a showcase fight for Martinez.
That is possible, I don't deny that and actually I am still looking to bet on Martinez.
It is just a concern for Martinez that I have.
Even with the recent knockouts to me it looks like Martinez has been slipping a bit, now I do feel that even a slightly faded Martinez should still take care of business against JCC Jr..
That said once fading starts in boxing it can be a real slippery slope and if he starts getting older in this fight he could end up in trouble, I am sure that is what Team JCC Jr. is looking at.
I do tend agree with what you said about the JCC Jr.-Lee fight though.

Chavez has only scored two KOs in his seven middleweight fights, both times against fighters who had been knocked out before. Meanwhile Martinez is on a four fights KO streak, three against guys who had never been stopped before. I don't know what reality you're talking about but it's not the one I live in.
Martinez' P4P ranking causes some to criticize his opponents too highly. Hes beaten some tough, game fighters, and by knockout.

I'm just being a biased dickjob.

Martinez is going to be worn down, and destroyed.
Just like he was against Margarito.

Good thought, I disagree in actual REALITY.
lmao Martinez is going to get merked worse than he did against Marg.
A giant bohemoth who cuts off the ring..........is 12 years younger........hits harder............does nothing but attack the body..........takes a punch better than anyone he faced.
Etc.
Once the Sergio hype train ends, we'll revise all of this.

Outside of a shady decision, Chavez isn't winning this fight. Also, no one of note has hit Chavez hard enough or frequently enough for ppl to start claiming Chavez's chin is too good for Martinez.
I disagree. I think Barker, Macklin & Dzinzuruk are every bit as good as Lee, Zbik, Rubio & Peter Manfredo if not better.
Stopped nobody notable?
Barker had only been down once very briefly, Macklins very durable and Dzinzuruk had never been down in sparring, amateur or pro.
Lee was stopped by dare I say it, Brian Vera.
Manfredo & Rubio aren't the most durable of guys.
didn't say Chavez has a beastly KO resume
he's not the one getting hyped for a KO streak, Sergio is
those guys aren't all that, Dzinziruk is good at JMW, but not a MW
been liking Chavez' last few fights more than Sergio's
just don't see how Martinez is expected to win easily
thinking he'll get the UD here, but hardly a rollover
the fight will be tough throughout
and if Martinez tries hunting for a KO, he'll be the one KO'd
All this is based on Chavez Jrs size lol
I hope you realise that Pavlik on fight night weighed in at a lb short of 180.
Chavez Jr has improved but the guy has no defense at all, hes slow, predictable and can't box at range for sh1t. Hes a swarmer with no head movement & slow feet, Sergio is going to literally beat this kid to within an inch of his life.

No but seriously,
Martinez has to string together more than 1 punch at a time.
I mean wtf. He's just a small target.

It will be all that much sweeter when Martinez has Chavez beaten to a pulp and his own father is on the verge of climbing into the ring to rescue his baby boy from disaster.
