Did anyone else think that HBO missed a trick by under utilizing the ref cam on Kenny Bayless?
I thought it was a great idea to implement it in the Khan/Garcia fight but the only footage I saw was the final count Khan was given before the fight was stopped. Its a shame that they didn't show more of this footage in between rounds or after the fight because there were some quality exchanges taking place and Bayless had the best view in the house.
Big mistake by HBO in my opinion.
i thought that was a great idea and yea, they should have used it more
HBO should upload the entire fight on their site...i'd love to watch it from the ref's POV
That would be f*cking awesome.
F**k it!!!! Let HBO do compubox cam as well. I'd love to see what them f**kers are watching because to me it seems like they don't have a f**king clue what they are seeing.
Smoger - all of them
front row seats to beatdowns that didnt stop until someone's head came off :D
Smoger is bar none my favorite reff so I quote you for truth/co-sign for that.
Reff Frank Capuccino is close second. He's another blood/guts reff that lets sh1t progeress...
I was wondering the same thing and if it was possible to watch the rest of the footage from their site. Hopefully we will see more of it in the future. Might also be a useful tool for the judges to use in the future.
that's a damn good idea, to upload the footage taken from each judge so that fans could witness their actual point of view! It also adds pressure on the judges to score it as best they can since the world will see their name attached to a pov camera footage online (however, the commissions may not be entirely for this).
Perhaps the ref cam footage could go up on their website :boxing:
HBO should have something on their site, where u can pick an angle to watch the fight from...Like when mtv does its award shows, on the site, they have all these different cameras running and u can choose one to enlarge...everytime I see fights, I would love to see certain punches from different angles
Great idea. Also an option to turn off the commentary.

If they ever do that, they should also add the camera view looking straight down at the ring.
I always wanted to see whole fights w/ fighters who have great footwork/foot speed from that angle.
yea the birdseye/aerial view is nice...ESPN used to use that one quite a bit

They need to utilize the ref cam during the actual fight not just when theirs a break in the action. but i liked the ref cam its something new.
The image would be blurry and shaky as hell though.
Following fights I would have loved a ref cam for:
Mills Lane- Tyson/Holyfield II
Jay Nady- Trinidad/Vargas
Jay Nady- Kostya/Judah
Richard Steele- Chavez SR/Meldric Taylor
Anyone else?
Feel free to add!!!!

Maybe, but I loved that they showed it for the final KD..It showed why Bayless stopped the fight..Khan's blanked out for a min there..Bayless was willing to give Khan all of the chances he could, but when he seen that he had no choice..Bayless the best in the business..Great stoppage and great idea by HBO...
Its a great addition, gave me a surprise when they first used it during the fight.
As others have said, would of been good if they showed us something like the knockdowns from the refs POV.
