It's easy to protect a chin when you're fighting against grade-A horsecrap. Poet Wlad diffused David Haye, who i regard as a good boxer. Not once did he get a chance to land his signature bombs. Wlad deployed his jab, clinched and kept his hands up and kept someone as fast and powerful as Haye in check... Roach hasn't done much good at all. People saying you cant fix a weak chin...... just look at the way Khan was squared up to Garcia and the way he threw that right hand during the 1st knockdown. Terrible technique, he is so open for counters when he fights like that. He has no ring intelligence and he doesn't utilise his advantages and i think Roach deserves alot of blame for this. He's had the guy for over 3 years and there are still many glaring flaws in his game, with or without a weak chin.

People were flaming me for calling out Roach a year ago, I knew this mess would happen. He was just piggy backing the success of Catfish and other fighters thought he was some sort of god, he isnt. He's a horrible trainer to get your technique and strategy perfected, he doesn't have any time for anyone, he forces his lower tiered fighters to jump thru hoops just to spar with him, etc etc. I remember making topics about this and people crucifying me on how I can say Steward and Nacho are way better trainers. Like I said 1 year ago, a blind pigmy couldve done the same thing with Catfish that Roach did, infact I feel Pacq has been getting worse these last few years and Freddy isnt doing anything to help. Name me a fighter Freddy has actually groomed from the beginning and made a superstar. Freddy ruins fighters, he's Hollywood trainer, you dont go to Freddy to learn about the game and become the best, you go there because you wanna be seen and to make people think how cool you are.

The thing is Roach is a coach that's too concerned with the offensive aspect of the game, but that leaves some terrible holes in the defense of his fighters. Guys like Khan and Linares need a trainer that helps them to get a tight defense in order to protect their chin, doing something like Wladimir K, who we know has a fairly fragile chin but has completely adapted his game to protect that weakness.

I think he does have the talent just not the proper mindsetand no trainer could ever fix that. He could have got taught to utilize his talent better by a different trainer but how would that trainer make Khan have the will to constantly strive to get better. Agreed.. Khan might be very talented, fast & athletic, but he is simply not strong enough mentally. And after this fight, his self confidence will be even more ****ed up.

If there's any trainer that's overrated its Robert Garcia. He gets tons of hype yet I dont find anyone fighter in his camp impressive nor have any of them gotten better under him.

khan wasnt fighting great, he was fighting like an amateur, as usual I don't know how much more he could have done to garcia in the rounds before he got caught. He was nailing him and not getting hit much. Even garcia's corner was getting concerned. If khan looked like a amature what did garcia look like?

Most overrated trainer boxing does it again. Makes Khan who's 10x more talented than Garcia lose. Why? He makes the chinny Khan bang and trade in the middle. Ruining them would imply that they were better before they got to roach. Fail! As for tonights fight, Khan didnt do anything wrong. He just cant take a punch. The punches that dropped him werent even flush punches on the chin. One was on the neck while the other grazed the top of his scalp.

Khan will win some and with his chin - lose some by spectacular KO. He is apprently moving to WW next.

None of them rely on jabs. Khan, chavez jr, Pacquiao. Roach is not a teacher of technical skill on offense or defense, and he's a bad game planner. He gets guys into shape though, but that's it.

It sounds like excuses when I read all the posts blaming Roach for Khan's loss. I don't think Roach is perfect, if Roach was perfect he could have fixed Khan's chin. No trainer can do that.

Roach is definitely a bad fit for both Linares and Khan. Linares fights better going backwards and has a fragile face. Khan has speed and some power but has a glass chin. Who's idea was it for Khan to train under Roach anyway?
