Khans movement is what makes him who he is. Roach trying to get him to settle down, and fight more flatfooted was a big mistake.
You could see at times that Khan just looked stupid standing straight up after throwing punches, and standing more flatfooted instead of moving.
Roach got Khan ****ed up in this fight, and Khan is not getting better under Roach.
Time to depart ways...
If you're going to stand in front of another fighter and let some leather go for long periods then you better be able to take a big shot or two in retaliation. The tactics were terrible, all wrong for a fighter like Khan.
Khan's assets: height, reach, handspeed, jab, straight-right. If you can't work out the right game plan from that list then you haven't been paying enough attention to this sport. Khan should have fought from a distance that Garcia couldn't have fought at, using his jab and straight-right almost exclusively. When Garcia gets inside, you flurry and get out. Don't think about looking spectacular or any other macho bull**** - get the job done.
Maybe Garcia would have found the mark anyway, but Khan's tactics made it easier than it should have been. As a Khan fan, I was praying he'd get the knockout early when I saw how he came out, because I knew that at one point or another he'd get tagged and be in trouble if he didn't ice Garcia first.
Good post...

that left jab for khan was very good to back-up garcia. he didn't use it as much as he should. would've been much better if he tried to double that left jab to baffle garcia and avoid the left counter. he didn't use as much in-out strategy too. he just rely on his handspeed and stand toe to toe with garcia.
but then again, that weak chin will always be khan's downfall and no amount of strategy will cure that. everytime he faces a strong-chinned opponent with power, there's always a big possibility of getting ko'ed.
Khan needed movement, but I still think that Garcia counters Khan into a stoppage.
Movement could have saved khan but he was a ko waiting to happen, he doesn't tuck his chin and doesn't use his range well, he need sr or Stewart, Wlad chin is just as crappy but he learned from Stewart how to use range. If Khan is going to have success he needs to learn this
What i notice about khan is that his style doesn't match his ability...the man fights as if he were larry holmes or mike tyson....but the fact is, he doesn't carry that heavy a punch and his chin is not that solid. look at tommy hearns, he had a big punch but a weak chin and he gets ranked behind hagler and duran.
Khan gets most of the blame. You're that fast and little to no true feints. When you get caught like that......it seems to mean that you didn't see the shot, and nor did you use feints to figure a guy out.
no trainer can teach you on how to harden up your glass jaw:boxing:
THIS!
His Jaw ****ed the his game plan for the night... otherwise he was doing well IMO
I don't think the ref should've stopped the fight, but Khan gave the ref room to stop the fight.
It was vintage Lampley during the knockdowns and finish, but his commentating of the fight......is just terrible nowadays.
#Good fight while it lasted!
He is the wrong trainer for Khan in general.
His offensive game was never the problem. He needed defensive work and Freddie Roach seems to know nothing about defence. He should be a jab first fighter who throws in straight rights now and then, instead he's been turned into a sh*tty version of Pacquiao who jumps in and out, loses his balance and can't defend.
Khan wasn't jumping in when he got caught. He stood right in front of Garcia and threw a left hook with bad technique, and a right uppercut with bad technique and got countered.
