he looked fine to me, the bell had sounded, Haye of course absolutely spent.
Good fight but disappointed with that stoppage myself though its potentially won me some good coin.
its not the ref's place to take account of how much time is left in the round when seeing if a guy is fit to continue
Maybe he didn't hear the bell...Tbh in the round Chisora clocked Haye on the bell I didn't hear it at all, noisy crowd!
Either way the event did well!
and this is a bad thing because chisora is a nice person??? the stoppage is pure BS considering the tension leading up to the fight. hyped fight from the start like this never deliver come fight night.
Fuck off, you're exactly what's wrong with a lot of boxing fans. ''He is a dick and I want my entertainment so fuck his health''.
Whether he is a nice guy is irrelevant as the answer doesn't determine whether or not concern for his health should be abandoned. If you believe that it doesn't matter if he ended up in a wheel chair for the rest of his life because of his previous antics you are more disturbed than he is.
Not going to bother addressing the hype behind the fight. A fighters health is a greater priority than fulfilling the needs of blood thirsty pigs such as yourself.
He wouldn't of been taken more that round, he'd of been on his stool and had a minute to recover.
But yes a K.O like that would certainly make me happy!

the stoppage was fine does a guy need to be laid out ala kessler green to make u happy? I for one don't want to see a guy taking an extra bunch of shots when he doesnt have to

in the "olden day" they also didnt have brain scans, rest periods after KO losses or even allowed the fighters to gain consciusness bafore dragging them out of the ring. theres a reason they left that in the past, its called progress. a fighters health comes first, they dont stop it for no reason.
chisora went down once and barely beat the count, once back on his feet he showed a complete inability to fight hurt. instead of clinching, covering up and avoid getting hit at all costs he left himself more open than he had all night. he wasnt intelligently defending himself at all and haye was bouncing flush shots off his jaw with full force. he went down hard, barely beat the count again and wobbled backwards. he left the ref no choice, had he showed he knew what to do in that situation maybe he deserved another chance but when you arent intelligently defending yourself the ref has to do it for you.
Yes, i got no problem with the stoppage. I think Chisora could have continued for a while longer, but some of the same treatment might have been heading his way later on.
the ref cannot take into account time left in the round, its why you cant be saved by the bell, ref treats it as though there is no break coming up, if a fighters health is in trouble doesnt matter if theres one second left at the end of the 12th , its the refs job to stop it.
seriously some of you lot have utterly ****e boxing knowledge
The time did not matter, when a fighter puts his hands up to say he is fine I believe you should let them go..Unless they can't control their legs or look out on their feet..Which Derrick clearly did not seem like either was wrong with him..
What baffles me is that you actually think Chisor was fine. Guys who go limp and hit the ground aren;t fine. Montiel got up too. Do you think he was fine?
hmm i must watched the wrong fight because big mouth wasnt limp when he was on the floor. although big mouth was in for the beating of his life i dont think he was that hurt yet.

That was totally different & didn't we go through a similar thing with Molina vs Kirkland?

I agree he should have let Chisora have the time on the stool and then stopped it if he got caught again. That said, I thought Chisora fought like a guy who had never been floored after the first knock down. What was he doing swinging arm punches when he should have been holding on? Naive.
It wasn't a bad stoppage, refs should protect a fighters health and if Chisora went out there for another round he would have been banged up pretty bad.

If modern boxing is different to the olden day black and white footage of boxing then the stoppage is ok. Olden day boxing you had to nail opponents to the floor to get stoppages.
But chisora looked ok when he got up, a bit shaky but that is what happens when you get knocked down.

I agree,I thought it was a bad job all the way around by the ref tbh..But that stoppage was terrible...

Different commissions have different rules.
Plus that doesn't count if a fighter is on their feet at the time of the bell, which he was.
haye was the better fighter tonight imo i do think it was a bit premature but chisora didnt complain so.... haye proved people wrong the night i dont care how many people say he didnt he remained calm and kept his composure even when he was gassing out he still had the power to finish a man with a iron chin he proved me wrong i thought del boy would win on points before the fight i said haye would gas badly and chisora would just keep bobbing and weaving but haye just bombed him out big style
I think people overlook how dangerous it can be to continue a fight when you're frequently taking punches and those punches are putting you on queer street. Can people remember Nigel Benn v Gerald McClellan? Truth be told I try to put the fight to the back of my mind but I can't help but think that an unfortunate tragedy could have been avoided if the ref or McClellan's corner stopped things earlier.
I'd rather a ref gamble and stop the fight early than gamble and put the fighters health at risk. If it is found that the fight was stopped early a rematch can be made, if it is found that the fighter is brain damaged not a lot can be done.
