I think Johnson is going to win, I think he's in a class above Fonfara despite his age and all the competition Fonfara has ever faced.
I think that despite Johnson looking sluggish against Bute, Fonfara is no Bute and he won't give the same performance. What I'm worried about though is they're fighting 10 rounds in Fonfara's stomping grounds. He's also at an all time confidence high and could take a decision over Johnson.
I think Johnson can win, decision or KO.... but sort of doubtful on this.
What're NSB's thoughts on this?
I was in the fourth row with a pretty clear view. I agree Johnson blocked a lot of shots but he also caught a lot on the chin.
He wasn't offensively active enough to win the later rounds.
I never saw pro boxing live, but I can imagine watching it live from 1 angle among mostly Polish fans going crazy after every combination from Fonfara can give you false feeling of how fight really went.
And no, amount punches on the chin of Johnson in this fight can be counted on 1 hand. Even when Fonfara was going through Glens defence, he was landing mostly on the side of the head around the ear, not on the chin itself.
the feeling you got in the ring isnt always correct, things are happening fast, you are getting hit etc. when a fighter feels he isnt doing everything he expected or everything he prepared for he often feels the fight isnt going his way but it doesnt mean it is. just like fighters sometimes legitimately feel they won, watch the tape and realize they didnt.
i dont think johnson prepared to outbox and outjab the 6'2 opponent but thats what happened. i think bcuz he was fatigued most of the fight and unable to let his hands go or stop his opponent he felt he didnt do what he was supposed to and came up short. he still won the fight though.
i dont see what fonfara did better :dunno:. he threw more punches but he missed the vast majority of them, missed punches dont score points for you they score points for your opponent in the defense category. he was aggressive but not effectively aggressive, he did show some ring generalship but the diffrence in defense and clean effective punches was staggering in johnsons favor.
johnson was landing flush shots all night, fonfara wasnt. simple as that. johnson was hurting him several times, fonfara wasnt hurting johnson at all. glen was just getting knocked of balance bcuz hes a tired old man with no legs, but not one time was he hurt or even stunned. the diffrence in quality of work was just gigantic.
Johnson lost. Scores were too wide, I had it 96-94 but he lost.
Basing on what? Just watch some rounds again and pay attention to amount of punches that Glen was blocking and you can't give figher credit for punches landed on gloves, forearms and elbows. It's not any different to throwing punch in the air.
Even last 2 when Glen was dead tired Fonfara was just missing so badly pretty much everything he was throwing.
Also there's no reason for me to trust those 3 judges. 2 of them I never saw before and other one I remember scoring Cory Spinks - Deandre Latimore fight for Latimor what was ridiculous.
People should seriously listen to fighters when they say they lost.
Not necessary. I'm pretty sure he will change his mind after watching it on TV. He was very tired at the end, it affected his feeling of a fight.
The same situation was with Proksa. After first fight with he had no problem with a result, but later after watching a fight in his home he changed his mind and said that he definitely won that fight.
 You must be joking!
Yeah, well... Maybe he did not schooled him as much as Krzysztof Szot schooled Nate Campbell, but he still took him to school.
People should seriously look at punches that are landing. You can not give fighter credit for landing on a gloves, forearms or schoulders...
The old guy faded badely in the end and the kid swept the latter rounds. Glen needs to stop, I understand his nature but he needs to retire now. I think 6-4 in favor of the kid would be fare. No way did Glen win, he was out hustled and looked bad in the late rounds struggling with balance and his first steps got very heavy, never a good sign. Another round or two and he'd get stopped or the corner stops him either way he's had a great career and he's an example that won/lose records mean nothing with certain fighters. It just means you fought hurt/short notices/robbed on the road/fought solid competition/etc. heres a guy who was stopped (KO'ed) I think once in 70 fights and fought top caliber guys. He comes to fight even when his comp is 24yrs and he's 43??? Time to stop Glen, father time always stops us eventually! Ray.
agreed. johnson landed all the clean punches. fonfara threw alot, especially when johnson gassed but he was highly ineffective. johnson even outjabbed him from start to finish.
im glad glen is retiring though. hes clearly not the fighter he once was.
Funny(maybe it's not a good word, uh, it's definitely not a good word but whatever) thing is that I actually don't think he was ever really robbed before in his career. I just thought he was loosing close decision, but today he was robbed blind. His defence was key to winning, but yes, it's probably right time to retire.
I just saw it, Glen kinda looked old, he had stamina problems, but he schooled Fonfara anyway. It was awful robbery, awful...

Johnson will get the best of Fonfara but it's gonna be an action-packed fight because of the clash of styles. Unless Johnson gets shot overnight he should score a 8th or 9th round KO.
I'd favor Johnson to win by decision, but instead of b1tching about a robbery again if he loses, this time he should go for the KO.
johnson always goes for the KO, but you cant always get the stoppage especially when you are consistently fighting the level of opposition johnson is. i dont think its fair to call it b1tching based on the amount of times hes been legitimately robbed, and even when he is incorrect in claiming a robbery you still cant call it b1tching for the simple reason that its glen fcking johnson. the man deserves more respect than that even when hes wrong.
I'd favor Johnson to win by decision, but instead of b1tching about a robbery again if he loses, this time he should go for the KO.
I think he's capable of KOing him..... just that he's in his homecourt... so he's gotta go for it.
I don't think so. Johnsons performance against Bute is underrated, he didn't do as bad as scorecards are showing. Also, Glen never lost to fighter as bad as Fonfara, maybe other than that Joseph Kiwanuka who I never saw and Pole is not difuclt style for Johnson to deal with either. It's all about age, lay-off and injury now, but I think he should be fine.
Yea... I think that's what's in everybodies mind right now... the Bute fight. He didn't do as well as when he fought Froch and that's what's putting me and people off.
I'm kind of worried about a decision though... i'm never comfortable about these kinds of things.... I think Johnson should win by UD or KO late.
I saw the Findley fight and Fonfara seems kind of chinny. If Johnson can land what he did against Froch, this'll be a KO.
I hate having erie feelings.
