Just a question which came up in a radio show. You think those guys are cowards for cheating?
Couldn't care less about Peterson and Berto but I hate criticizing Tarver. Still, got to treat all drug cheats the same way. There can't be any ifs or buts.
I think out of all 3, given the facts that we possess so far, I'd say Peterson is clearly the biggest coward because he knowingly cheated before the first Khan fight. His one saving grace is that he later owned up to cheating.
I don't know the true extent of Berto and Tarver's cases so far, there hasnt been much reported about it.
All I am going to say is that I am glad Mayweather started that trend of testing fighters for steroids. Even if some fights got canceled those fighters shouldn't get paid to cheat.
not voting because I don't think Berto cheated, I think he used a tainted substance as nandrolone isn't even a steroid anybody uses anymore and that the amount that was detected was so miniscule that evidence suggests it actually DID come from a tainted substance and not intentional dosing
lamont peterson is a different story, as he knowingly used the testosterone pellets under a supposed Dr's supervision and, according to lamont, thought that it wasn't breaking any rules due to it being prescribed by a Dr. either way, it's lamont's responsibility to make absolutely sure this wasn't against any rules even though a Dr supposedly prescribed it, he should've checked with the commission and the VADA group to make absolutely sure, so in the end it's his responsibility regardless of WHY he took it or WHO SAID he could take it
don't know enough about Tarver to make an educated opinion, so I'm choosing not to vote on this.. appearingly obvious attempt at a troll-poll
Thank you.
Dirty? Yeah.
Cheater? Sure.
Dirty, dishonest, low-down, cheatin' @%$@^$%*%()!!! Absolutely.
But to call any of these guys a coward is just ignorant. You have a very good point. Coward just does not fit. Cheaters maybe. Cowards, no. I am changing my vote to no. I wish I had the courage of any of the three acused but I know I don't.
nobody who fights for a living is a coward, PERIOD! to compete at this level you gotta have freakin' elephant balls no homo.
Thank you.

don't know enough about Tarver to make an educated opinion, so I'm choosing not to vote on this.. appearingly obvious attempt at a troll-pollI almost didn't vote for the same reasons and I don't think Berto is a cheater or a coward. The other two I just don't know one way or the other.

I voted yes cheaters are cowards because there were only two ways to vote. If a fighter knowingly cheats to gain an advantage then of course it is wrong. There are three fighters accused and each case is different. I think Berto may have taken a tiny amount of a banned substance by mistake because he took a legal supplement that was contaminated. If that's true then Berto was careless but he was not trying to cheat. Peterson claims he has very low testosterone levels and was trying to bring them up to normal. He never said a word about it until he got caught with 4 times the normal level in his blood. He is looking pretty bad. Tarver was found to have a good amount of steriods in his blood. Unless an error was made on Tarver's test he is looking the worst of the three. Just my opinion so take it easy on me.
"IF" they intentionally cheated then to me they're cowards.
By not wanting to play on an even playing field as the rest and in some cases even demanding extra testing to be done to make sure their opponents aren't also cheating just shows they're scared of losing for whatever reason.
No I have said this before but if I had the choice to be a mediocre boxer whose career fell flat but I stayed away from steroids OR take steroids and become a better boxer and potentially make millions I would sure as sh*t take the roids.
People look for advantages in every career not just sports I'm not saying these guys shouldnt be punished just that I understand why they would take it.
They weren't cheating.
They got popped for "banned substances" because of some arbitrary decision made by some testing organization. What makes it a "banned substance" besides the fact that they say it's a "banned substance"?
Not a damn thing.
It was bullsh#t then, it's bullsh#t now. Peterson, Berto, and Tarver are 100% innocent.
I don't know about 100% innocent. I mean they're not going to put a halt to the Khan Peterson rematch unless the guy is a real cheat. It's economic suicide. The guy even admitted that he cheated openly. Really it's not even up for debate.
But the Tarver and Berto situation is still up in the air, I know they were just caught with trace amounts and it could be due to contamination. Peterson on the other hand had testosterone pellets inserted into his hips if I remember correctly. There's really no question of his guilt, I'd say without question he's 100% guilty.
Peterson seems to be a cheater but with all of them they are innocent unti proven guilty. The way you worded it I cant choose because every man is aforded by right his day in court.

Ditto...it takes balls to step in a ring, no matter what. I don't care if you're amped up on meth, ripped to the point of musclebound, if you're mental state isn't one of calm and composure, and you have control over your emotions, (not the other way around) you can use you anger w/o it controlling you.
Peds don't make you more skillful or smart in the ring. They don't give you experience. Yeah, they help in some cases, but i think they are overrated just a little bit.
No way is anybody that steps in the ring a coward.
