In the United States, the host nation for Pacquiao vs Bradley, interest in the bout was even stronger. During the same time period, two of the country's top ten trending sports-related queries related to Manny Pacquiao. In addition, 'pacquiao vs bradley' finished above 'nba finals' and the query 'pacquiao' trended higher than 'lebron james' and 'miami heat' in the month of June 2012.
Most search enthusiasts and sports insiders would agree to trend higher than NBA Finals-related queries in the United States at a time when the Miami Heat and LeBron James won the NBA Championship is no small achievement.
Trending high in Google is nothing new for the eight-division world champion. Last year, according to Google's annual Zeitgeist, Manny Pacquiao was Google's most queried athlete in the United States.
No mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter nor any UFC event finished in Google's top 10 sports-related searches in any month, January to June.

June's top trending sports queries, worldwide, were dominated by the European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2012. The popular European soccer event accounted for six Google's top ten trending sports queries.
The highest trending sports-related query internationally, 'us open,' was generated as a result of the start of The United States Open Championship, more commonly known as the U.S. Open. The event is the second of the four major championships in golf and is held in the United States.
Im not saying I hate UFC but people paint like a rosy picture about how they are doing everything correctly and I think they really have done a great job with a lot of things but there is absolutely no question mma fighters are the lowest paid athletes in the world.
And will continue to be,Boxing for all it's faults is still always going to be looked at as an art form..While UFC is always going to be looked at as a brutal sport..I happen to like both, but I follow boxing,I watch UFC or MMA(cause I watch Strike Force as well)but in noway is Boxing ever going to be really effected by MMA..Boxing is a live and well,I also don't see any real stars coming out of the MMA like that...Their last big star(as in a guy everyone knew)was like Tito Ortiz..That was yrs ago..
How exactly? I already told you I enjoy boxing more than I do UFC. But these insecure Pro Boxing anti UFC fans are an embarrassment.
You guys have a mentality that just because you're a boxing fan, you're forced to hate the UFC for some reason. It's silly.

So much inferiority complex...
Not going to fuel it anymore with a guy who has nothing but:
-UFC SUKS LOL
-UFC FITER GET PAID LESS
-UFC FITER GAY P0RN LLOl
-UFC PPV BAD
and u are doing exactly the same right now with Boxing
Not going to watch a video of Bob Arum lying through his teeth.
I am fully aware that top tier boxers get paid much more handsomely than UFC fighters do. Not exactly sure why you think I'm "blasting" at your sport, when I like boxing more than I do UFC. Doesn't stop me from watching both.
just watch from 3:30 on bc there are really good points made and its like a minute and a half.
4 Boxers were listed in the top 100 highest paid athletes no mma fighters were in the top 100 and when have u ever heard a fighter say anything good about the ufc organization??
I read it, again Shaefer shows that he's much more intelligent business wise when it comes to arguing with his foes. Dana White sure did look and sound stupid with some of his comments though.
But it's true, UFC puts out free events (that people actually tune in for) and PPVs every month. How many people watch friday night fights?
No doubt about this right here, no denying that Pac and Mayweather bring in the masses.
You do realize Boxing is the most watched sport in Latin America even above Soccer believe it or not.
Dont know why your on a Bash Boxing mission.
I think this explains a lot as well you see Boxers typically receive 80-85% of the revenue so there is much less room for advertisement where as ufc fighters receive around 10-15% of the revenue hence there paydays are what they are compared to boxers.
UFC has done a way better job of putting the fighters out there and who they are more effectively than boxing. They also are smart about putting fights on in markets that normally dont get many events. Unlike Boxing where if you arent attached to Vegas or an indian casino somewhere you have no chance.
I like the UFC and Bellator system way better than boxing..... i'm cool for buildups, but sometimes it's a lot of B.S
Antagonist - UFC does way better for almost all there standard ppv cards. Yet Boxings Marquee fights always do better.
Hougigo - for some reason i think Silvas gonna get old in this next fight.
I'm not that MMA savvy, but I think Silva knows the deal and he'll beat Sonnen without as much trouble.
Also, wasn't Sonnen's testosterone level like 14-1 in the last fight?
More insecurity...
UFC gate sells much better than boxing does.
????
Im just saying what my buddy was telling me granted he only buys/sells tickets for like 4-5 Boxing cards a year. I dont know what you are so defensive about.
he's just a reporter?
I don't believe him, sorry.
I just don't see why it has to be Boxing vs UFC all the time. both fan bases have them.
You can believe whoever u want but he is the best reporter for accurate Boxing numbers and is an expret in both fields so that is your call.
Im not making it Boxing vs ufc i just have a big hunch that the numbers they are projecting are not near what they are actually doing, I think you would be interested in this story.

I know a buddy here who is a ticket broker and he was saying the demand for tickets for Mayweather/Cotto and Pac/Bradley were huge but Mayweather fight generated tons more interest.
he said also he has bought tickets for like 4 ufc events and only made money on 1 of the events and doesnt buy tics for those bc they dont sell that well
this is not true at all. I have tweeted Kevin Iole he is yahoo Boxing/MMA reporter and he says the numbers that are released by ufc regarding ppv buys/ticket sales to the public through sources are not even close to what they are actually doing. Tweet him if you want.
Link???????
Pac - Bradley was only up there because of the controversial ending (truth) combined with his poor fans searching how to get that $40 rebate to make it a $15 ppv
May-cotto actually had people's attention
And why do you feel the need to mention UFC all of a sudden like an insecure loser?
Silva-Sonnen II will most likely do Pac-Bradley numbers, and they bust out PPV's every month, sometimes twice a month..
this is not true at all. I have tweeted Kevin Iole he is yahoo Boxing/MMA reporter and he says the numbers that are released by ufc regarding ppv buys/ticket sales to the public through sources are not even close to what they are actually doing. Tweet him if you want.
Google Insights, which provides a representation of regional and international interests based on user searches for the world's largest search engine, released data that would be reassuring for any boxer, boxing promoter and hardcore fan.
For the month of May 2012, the queries 'mayweather vs cotto' and 'mayweather' represented the third and fourth highest trending sports searches in Google worldwide.
And in the United States, interest in the bout was even stronger. In the same time period, three of nation's top ten trending sports-related queries were related to last month's Floyd Mayweather - Miguel Cotto superfight. Moreover, each of three queries trended higher than search terms for any NBA player or team during the basketball playoffs in May.
The Mayweather vs Cotto fight card, which generated 1.5 million pay-per-view (PPV) buys and a whopping $94 Million USD, was seemingly an all-around success. In the end, Floyd Mayweather lifted the WBA Jr Middleweight title from a very determined Miguel Cotto in an action-packed bout.
In 2011, Mayweather took part in Google's most searched sports event for the entire year in the United States, 'mayweather vs ortiz.' And Floyd's nemesis, Manny Pacquiao, was Google's most queried athlete in the United States during the same period.
Terms Surpassing Mayweather vs Cotto Searches
May's highest trending query internationally and in the United States, 'junior seau,' was generated by users seeking details about the shocking apparent suicide of the former NFL football superstar on May 2nd. And internationally, the term 'roland garros' finished second.
Known to many as The French Open, the Roland Garros tennis event is the premier clay court tennis tournament in the world, one of the sport's four annual Grand Slam tournaments and one of the most watched events worldwide. Its participants included Rafael Nadal, currently the world's top male tennis player, and the always-intriguing Maria Sharapova.
The query 'hatfields and mccoys,' cited as the No. 2 sports query in the United States, is believed to be an error. The TV series Hatfields & McCoys, which aired on a US cable station last month, was a highly-promoted drama about famous feuding families of the same name in the United States from 1863-1891.
