Chavez vs Martinez will it sell more thAn Cotto-may weather?

4corners is making a great point, it seems a lot of people have started to think that 700k+ buys are easy to come by because of Manny Pacquiao's & Floyd Mayweathers amazing numbers they put up routinely. If Cotto & Margarito did around 600k buys, which is a MASSIVE success, there is no way, JCC Jr. & Martinez does close to that, no matter how much better the match up is. If this fight sells 300k units (which is not a given) that will be a great number that everyone will make a LOT of money on. Do the math: $49.95 ppv(my estimated price)x 300k buys= $14,985,000. Say the distributers take 45% of the profits(directv etc). That gives the promoters around $8,241,750 to pay the fighters, promoters, etc. Add gate in, add international tv, and it would make these fighters huge money.

This fight would be considered a success if it did Pac Clottey numbers. But to outsell the #1 P4P best fighter in the world, Floyd Mayweather? lol, Pac can't even do that and he's the second best at everything in boxing!

It's a better fight no doubt but it won't come close

I agree with 4corners. I don't think it's going to do over 350k. Plus Canelo fighting on non-PPV Showtime at the same time (regardless of the opponent) will take away many potential buyers.

It will be a big seller but not nearly as big as Mayweather vs. Cotto. Mayweather is the biggest money maker and Cotto is the 3rd biggest. Martinez is not that popular.

no chance... floyd-cotto card has 3-4 ppv stars in floyd, cotto, mosley and probably canelo... chavez-martinez will only have chavez doing all the ppv pull... martinez can't sell shyet even in a local high school cafeteria...

It may peak at 400k; if it sells more is because Bob Arum bought them himself

If this fight does more than 300-350K, I'll be surprised, and that would be a huge success.

It's funny that people think doing over 300K PPV's wouldn't be a success. Floyd and Manny are such huge draws, maybe the biggest ever (along with Tyson probably), so people now say selling between 250-500K is bad or something.

I would say about 400-500K Nothing to spit at. But these guys aren't Mayweather or Pac.

If Mayweather fought on regular HBO, it would do 20 million. This fight may do 300,000 PPV buys. Mayweather and Pacquiao being the huge draws they are, have jaded people from common sense on PPV buys.

IMO this fight could sell up to 650k if promoted real well.

Cotto-pbf did real well on ppv do you see Chavez -Martinez doing better remember jr's rating did 2million against lee what you guys think? Cotto with Yuri had a 3.9 (1.9 views) Rating when they were on HBO but as u notice a rating isnt the same as viewers or ppv buys so if they had a 2 rating thats equals 1 million views

There's a huge difference between 1.5 million people willing to pay $70 for Mayweather-Cotto and 2 million people watching it for "free" on HBO. Perfect answer.
