He is done, he should walk away, he doesn't have enough heart to fight top level guys, could you imagine Floyd, Manny, JMM or Ward, quiting in a big fight they are winning, you have to suck it up to beat the best. Even some of the B level guys, Maidana or Gatti would never quit, they would try to find a way to win.
If Ortiz wasn't as entertaining as he is, people would've given up on him a long time ago. The only other person I can think of is Judah, he has let us down numerous times but still finds some way to remain relevant. They might lack heart, but both guys sure are persistent and are constantly trying to prove the doubters wrong. Ortiz just has to make sure that he learns from these setbacks and doesn't allow the pressure devour him.
When he comes back, he needs to rematch Lopez or Maidana, he needs to tie up some loose ends in his career.
Made me think he should fight Judah next
He should rematch Lopez, and then give Berto a rematch, if Berto isn't suspended for a long time. If he won those two fights, he's right back in the mix.
He should start an acting career, Hollywood may be his next stop.
The conversation with the referee in between the last Rd's:
Referee: What is the problem?
Ortiz: I got a broken jaw.
Referee: So you want to stop the fight?
Ortiz: Well, I got a broken jaw, yes.
Referee: (waving his hands over Ortiz) It's over !!!
Look now at the Hollywood act of Ortiz as he raise up from his stool and start to walk up as he wants to continue fighting and gently pushes his corner man to put in the mouth piece again...
Now I doubt he will even have a career as an actor as it all looked fake yesterday :D
He should rematch Lopez, I'm not a major fan of Ortiz but he has been in entertaining fights and the responses from so called boxing fans is why fights don't get made. People are too quick to write a fighter off after they lose a couple of fights. So frigging what, it's not as though I'm looking at a fighters record when he steps in the ring.
Ortiz will have his jaw wired shut, go on a liquid diet and lose a lot of muscle mass. He'll start training in about 4 months, but can't spar again for 6 months.
Returning to the forest to plant himself. Until it starts raining, he'll quit being a tree so he can go inside.
In all honesty, Ortiz will have a long career of people never giving up on him no matter how many times he fails.

I think he will retire from boxing and become a marathon runner. I mean, we are talking about 2 consecutive losses, 1 being a KO and the other a corner retirement. He has 2 corner retirements in his career now and his record is not what you want to see from an "elite" level fighter.

I think Khan is probably the best fight he could get at this point. That's if Khan's still interested. I think Canelo for his next fight was a bad idea, even though it's not happening anymore.
I agree though. He's still young, still got a few years left in him. Fight a couple of tune-up matches and rebuild. He will be psychologically scarred by this latest result.
Fight a couple of low level fighters and get back in the picture.
ODLH has this guy like the next big thing and he believes it. He will be always a quitter once the fight doesn't goes his way. On top of that he has mental lapses and will do some silly foul and might get disqualified
Khan.........
he'll spark him out
I don't know about that but Ortiz is really talented. Just a serious head case. I think Khan-Ortiz would be a good fight. And even if Ortiz just lost I actually give him a good shot vs. Khan.
