Victor Ortiz is garbage. JCC Jr. has to take the test first though...
The ultimate test at middleweight, the divisional no.1 and p4p top 5.
JCC jr vs Martinez is a fight people have been calling for years and it finally happening.
Ortiz vs Canelo is a fight people hardly mentioned before and is only happening because their big fights fell through it is not a PPV fight.
somehow there's a perception that canelo is as big as a draw as chavez jr is, but that's not true.
Chavez Jr is a bigger draw in terms of Gate and HBO viewers.
Link?, proof?, arguments?.
think chavez martinez is more competitive and interesting
but course ill b dvr'in canelo-ortiz
both def must sees
chavez gets the live view but both get watched
JCC and Alvarez are basically exactly the same in terms of everything
But JCC is facing the lineal champ in Sergio, which is a fight long time coming and Alvarez is facing a quitter who quit against Floyd in Oritz who is moving up
Anyway i've been waiting for a while for JCC to retire Sergio
Chavez Jr-Martinez is the more competitive fight, especially since there will most likely be no type of drug testing. Ortiz will fold, I could see him pulling a weird stunt and he still doesn't have a jab, Canelo should stop him in the mid rounds.
chavez jr has been in entertaining fights and martinez has had entertaining fights himself but with his style and chavez style this is a cant miss match up
i expect ortiz to knock or tko canelo out. i dont understand the hype around canelo. for some reason he is viewed as being elite at 154 but he has not faced anyone. i could be wrong and if canelo win i believe it will be in canelo fashion. meaning it will be a boring fight in which he fights in spurts. instead pressing the issue.
ortiz vs canelo because of ortiz style more than likely it will be entertaining
but martinez vs chavez jr is almost guranteed fireworks
then you also add to the fact that chavez jr is considered the ticket seller and he is going in against the top guy the king of the middleweight division
in the ortiz vs canelo fight. you have canelo doing the usual. fighting another undeserving challenger. ortiz is a good fighter and world ranked AT 147lbs
Dont get me wrong the ortiz fight is a very good fight but im all in on martinez vs chavez jr
martinez and alvares are two fighters i always look forward to watching regardless of who they are fighting.
in this case i prefer martinez' fight, bcuz of the back and forth between him and chavez and how long we been waiting for this fight. and even though ortiz beat better oposition i think higher of chavez, the **** ortiz pulled against floyd was embarassing. perhaps the most unproffesional behaviour i ever seen in a boxing ring and this is his first fight back.
also the fact that ortiz and alvarez were both scheduled for better fights recently that fell through, them fighting eachother is like consolation fight. good but not nearly as good as the original matchups which takes some shine off it. meanwhile martinez-chavez is a fight i wanted to see for a long time but didnt think would ever happen.
Do you think Boxingscene is representative of boxing fans?
NO absolutely not.
BTW I also think Martinez vs Chavez is slightly better main event but I think Alvarez vs Ortiz is more competitive fight if I had to pay for either it would be Canelo vs Ortiz which will end up selling more based on name recognition
why? both Canelo and Ortiz are bigger names then Chavez JR and Martinez here in the states

If so, then you should agree GBP should move their fight or get stomped in the PPV buys.
Early days in the poll , but if I was Schaefer I would be looking to move Alvarez vs Ortiz pronto.

Well Alvarez is already well n his way to being a star, and Chavez is as well in his own right. If Chavez manages to beat Martinez though, his career will really take off.
Alvarez-Chavez will happen probably at 168 in like 4-5 years or so. Alvarez will eventually go that high in weight, and Chavez will probably stay at 168 for awhile once he gets there.
Maybe. But JCC was adamant about not signing a TR extension. SO win or lose against Sergio, the money fight for JCC has always been Canelo in Azteca. He will sell ok in the US but not on the floyd level or the manny level. I'm thinking slightly more than Cotto, same for Canelo.
with all the hype jcc/canelo could be the biggest fight in Mexican history!
Thats just it, USA ppv is secondary to mexican TV for these fights. Both fights combined will do less than a floy or a manny fight IMO anyway. I think moving forward, this is the 1st stage in canelo/chavez competition to be the most popular mexican fighter.
Eventually, when these two fight in Azateca its going to be ****ing unbelievably big!

Because though I have the money to shell out for both and can easily record Alvarez-Ortiz PPV on my DVR, I really don't want to spend $100-120 on 2 PPV's in one month and want to watch both live.
I think Chavez-Martinez will sell more, though both PPV's numbers will hurt from the same night thing.

why? they are trying to determine who is the biggest mexican star right now. I'm interested to see who sells more, assuming they are both equally priced.
Move the fight, and make more money.
GBP should swallow their pride and move the fight.

Both great fights. I'll watch Chavez-Martinez live, but I'll buy both anyway, and just record the Alvarez-Ortiz fights on my DVR.
I just hope Alvarez-Ortiz moves to October. Golden Boy should just swallow some pride and do that.

Both of these fights are scheduled for September 15th but which fight would are you most looking forward to and would want to see?
Poll coming!!!
sergio/jcc is the better fight but i'm not going to give TR anymore money until I feel their fights are not corrupt. So its prob canelo/ortiz, depending on the price because I'm not going to pay too much for what I think is a WCB fight.
