Since many believe that Chavez is now the real deal what do you think would happen if he fought Froch, Ward, Kessler, etc.?
After Martinez, regardless of what happens, he looks to be moving up as Roach said a few days ago. Of course, if he is knocked out by Sergio or thoroughly dominated by him then that would probably factor into how you think he will do against the fighters above.
I personally think his size advantage, which has been helping him tremendously, would be muted to a certain extent. I also don't think he will have as much power. Froch and Kessler can brawl with him and I believe Ward would thoroughly outbox him.
I would love him to fight Bika, it will be a War, Bika will not be able to take Chavez out because of the chin he inherited from the GOAT Chavez Sr. :notworthy
And a 190 lbs Chavez will murder Bika with the left hook and right hook to the body
The point of Chavez moving up is not to keep weight draining himself. He will not go into fights at 190 and continuing to do that as he gets older is a disaster waiting to happen.
wow! so all of a sudden joke jr after taking a legitamit step up and beating lee. is considered worthy of fights against the elite???
who is lee? lee is two steps below martinez, ward etc.
this has to be a joke thread .
I'm not buying into the hype, but many on here think this makes Chavez the real deal. That's why i started the thread.
The top SMW? no chance. none. In fact, Sakio Bika would likely beat him.
That isn't to say Chavez isn't a good fighter, just sayin 168 is very, very skilled.

The same people claiming JCC JR would lose to Sergio or Froch or Kessler are the same stupid morons that thought Andy Lee, MAB, etc. actually had a chance.
FACT: Andre Ward is the only fighter from 154-168 that poses any challenge whatsoever.
You have been posting crap like this for a while. I refuse to believe that you are serious. You must be trying to get a rise out of ppl

It's not just for the Lee fight, we have been watching his progress, and in every fight he gets better, I already talked about him giving problems to some fighters on the SMW division since the Zbik fight, Zbik is more quick that many of the SMW's so Chavez will have already tasted fighters with much better speed that many at SMW, and that will be very important in those fights.
And after dominanting a very tough Rubio, it was a matter time to make some comparisions.
I really want him to fight Martinez, winning or losing, Martinez will be excellent to prepare him for the "skill" guys at SMW
Also Chavez will be fighting the SMW's at 195 lbs
I believe guys like Chavez who have a history of drainging tons of weight to make a certain weight class typically don't do as well when they move up as their power does not translate as well.
Well history is that history... Chavez has been improving his punching power with every fight, and I believe with a healthy camp, without looking like a WWII refugee before the day of the fight, he will be an even better puncher, but that's just me, we shall wait and see what happens, but first the Martinez fight, I can't wait.
he struggled to beat Zbik, Sturm who has been average lately and arguably lost his last 2 fights crushed him. He's improving every fight but if he was to fight guys his own size he wouldn't have any edge at all, most of those guys are way more skilled than him.
Yes he struggle vs Zbik, that's why I believe his 2 most dangerous fights at SMW are Ward and Kessler, guys smaller than him, his fajador style doesn't translate to well versus smaller fighters height wise, and with skills.
The good thing about Ward is that he likes to mix it up on the inside, and he will try to show everyone he's better on the inside than Chavez, that could give Chavez some hope in the fight.
And versus Kessler, he has a more European style so Chavez could eventually force the fight on the inside if the avoids the straights of Kessler.
And about the size, well Chavez will be 190 plus pounds on SMW, more than when fights at MW, and his style will do the work, getting on the inside banging the body and mixing it up with some hooks and uppers. That kind of fight will be very dangerous for fighters like Bute and Dirrell.
The Froch fight is a toss up I say, Froch can do everything, but he will be fighting on the inside vs Chavez, Froch is to macho to outbox Chavez, and it will a 50/50 fight vs a 190 pounds Chavez (and of Course first I want Chavez to fight Martinez winning or losing so he can get more experience to fight the "skill" SMW's)
Kessler ain't soft from what I have seen. Soft fighters aren't able to beat Froch or come close to beating him if you feel that the judges wer wrong.
Soft fighters quit when the fight starts getting rougher than expected. Kessler quit fighting in the Ward fight and I can see him doing it again. The doc stopped the fight in the 11th but Kessler quit much earlier than that.
He will do well,
His style is tailor made for beating bigger and taller fighters is the Mexican Fajador Style
And those guys at the SMW division haven't fight versus an artist in the body punching department like Chavez, Lee never fought one till Chavez, and we know what happen yesterday.
The bigger guys in boxing neglect body punching, and they dont have the experience to fight it.
Bigger body... bigger tree for EL CASHCOW THE DINERO VACA SUPERBEASTO JR. to chop down! :boxing:

he is just using his size and strength advantage at 160
Sergio picks him apart at 160 even if he comes in on fight night the size of a damn Cruiserweight
at 168, he is not going to fight any of the Top Fighters a 168, he will beat a few bums from overseas, then Arum sets up Chavez Jr vs Pavlik and Chavez Jr will avoid all of the Top fightes at 168, I could see Chavez fighting maybe Arthur Abraham and doing well against him Since Abraham is a stationary target
at 160 I think Priog, GGG and N'Dam N'Jikam all would beat him...Arum is doing what he did with Oscar and Pacquiao, he is matching Chavez Jr up with the right opponent
Wouldn't do too well

I don't normally talk to trolls as that only emboldens them, but could you address Chavez' failed test back in 2009? He tested positive for a diuretic, which allows fighters to lose water weight faster and/or mask steroid use.
He has also rejected Martinez' calls for OST from what I have read.
The Sergio fight will help him a lot in his progress, I believe it will be war
And will make Chavez a better fighter, and when he moves up, first he will have a tuneup, then a Plavik fight
Dirrell and Bute will be a really big target, for those body punches
The only guy I see testing Chavez chin is Abraham, but Chavez should beat him, Ward or Kessler would be the last fights Top Rank will put him in the SMW's.
But if he continues his progress, they will be pretty interesting fights.
I believe ward and dirrell win easy, Froch vs Jr will be a great fight but I give the edge to Froch and though I think Kessler can outbox Jr. Kessler is soft. I can see Jr breaking kessler down and making him quit.

i think Serio beats him and Ward would make him look like an amatuer.
