I remember Fred saying he studied Bradley very well even looked at his amateur tapes. He aslo said they have covered every bases anticipating all scenarios Bradley will do on fight night, that they'll capitalize on his bad habits.
Fact in the fight is that PAC owns Bradley in toe-to-toe exchanges. I love PAC but I think the fourth quarter of the fight he might have made the mistake of cruising thinking he got the fight in the bag. Bradley just may have won those rounds but I think the judges are over generous to him cause he never brought the fight to Manny as every challenger should do.
I think Freddie should focus on a boxer not slugger Bradley and get sparmates of the mold of Malinaggi, Calderon and the like more than Provodnikov type. For me PAC didnt get tired in the late rounds he became bored beacuse all throughout camp hes been slugging with his sparmates.
I think he did really well. People are only bashing it based on the loss but that's all they just see to discredit Pac.
This.
Much of the naysayers in anything associated with Pacquiao is pretty much "in" nowadays. Whether fabricated or real, if you're successful many will be jealous and many will be envious.
This goes to the Mayweather camp too.
As for me, the soap opera around the boxing is what makes it interesting to non-boxing fans. But unfortunately much have been about non-boxing issues the cloud the sport.
The sport of boxing is beautiful nevertheless.
You understand it .. you just don't accept it.
Roach is a master match maker, not a master trainer.
Pacquiao's biggest wins came over straight forward plodders and drained boxers who lost their legs making weight(DLH, Cotto, Margarito).
Why would Roach bother with slick sparring partners when he's orchestrated every match from 2008-2011 to be against men who stand and fight?
Its only since Mosley that a Pacquiao opponent demonstrated any movement. Then JMM. Now Bradley.
Pacquiao has not declined one bit. He's younger than Mayweather and still turns it on at will. The issue really that even when Manny turns it on now his recent opponents have the ability to box and move out of the way.
Put Pacquiao in with a WW who makes a 145lbs catchweight again and it will be like old times. Ortiz@145lbs is made to order for a Pacquiao win. Ortiz@ the same fight night weight as when he fought Floyd would be rough loss for Pacquiao.
What matter is...Pac proved he can beat any Mayweather opponents with ease whatever your excuses are.
It was good. Pac knew exactly what Bradley was going to throw. That jab-duck-counter was beautiful. The only success Bradley had was backpeddling and forcing Pac to run in on him.
I gave Roach an F, because Pacquiao is his own trainer. Roach never gets slick boxers to spar Manny this is why Manny looks like **** against movers. I dont understand Roaches strategy of giving Manny slow brawlers in sparring? If you want Manny to have better timing and speed get him all fast sparring partners with quick feet and teach him to cut the ring off and use timing.
Roach sucks he enjoys the spotlight he sucks point blank every trainer said Pacquiao made Roach and even without Roach Pac would have been big.
I give it an A.
Pac could've used that overhand right more often (if he even used it in this fight) and increased his pressure flurries when he had Bradley hurt.
It's too bad that Pacquiao doesn't fight to "destroy" people anymore like he used to... but if Roach can coax that mindset back out of him, I'd give it an A+.
You could tell he wasn't in their to KO him though
If Manny hadn't of slowed towards the end he would have win a minimum of 10 rounds, which says to me the game plan was extremely good, even if the fighter didnt stick to it for the full 12 rounds
Good point.
Hopefully Pac decides to go for the kill in the rematch.
That was a good gameplan but Roach always relies on the opponent being aggressive, which Bradley was for 3/4th of the fight but then Pac was ineffective when Bradley stepped back and countered in the last quarter.
Roach always knows what it takes to beat the opponent just not if his fighter can execute that game plan or not which was never USED to be a problem for Pac. but now look at the training for Marquez 3 they knew what to expect they even discussed and showed he was going to avoid that punch from Marquez yet come fight night he still couldnt avoid it..
