This would definitely clean up the sport.
Why not allow technology to give boxing a much needed facelift?
The NBA and the NFL have instant replay.
Boxing needs to change its scoring system.
Tweak, modify, fine tune, and perfect the current
Compubox scoring system and boxing just may get
the spark that it needed.
There is someone out there that is smart enough to create the
perfect system to account for power punches, accuracy, volume punching, and damage.
It has to be a combination of smart software and experienced judging.
"CompuBox's purpose is to settle controversies surrounding fights by counting each punch thrown by each of the fighters, and also each punch landed, to provide fight viewers with a final punchstat count and a perception of who should ideally be given the judges' decision, in the cases where a fight lasts the full distance.
The system calls for two operators. Each operator watches one of the two fighters and has access to four keys, corresponding to jab connect, jab miss, power punch connect, and power punch miss. The operators key in the different punches as they happen, collecting punch counts and hit percentages along the way." Wiki
Oh my god! Just when I thought I heard it all from Pactards.
Idiots actually think people will agree to compubox replacing judges just because their diva hero got owned??:lol1:
Compubox does not score effective punches, effective aggression or ring generalship so it won't work in the pro's. But then again neither did Saturday's judges!
If boxer A land 10 pitty-pat jab on boxer B
Boxer B land 3 huge bombs right on boxer A's chin and hurt him.
Does boxer A win for you ?
Well that is how it should be. The point is to land more punches than your opponent. If "Boxer B" is only capable of landing 3 punches, he better hope one of them results in a knockdown or "Boxer A" will have out-boxed him for the round.
Me and 2 other people counted Bradley's landed punches in round 2 we got 28-31 landed. Compubox is always off, mainly due to angles, viewing obstruction, flurries and head movement
too much bull **** in the world today. i dont believe anything
Well with this system, you can check it your self, if you can count.
And yes I did have too much time on my hands, and I did sit down and counted punches in a few round, put it on slow mo as well, and compubox was right, they do a fine job.
If we did use compubox Pacquiao would have beat Bradley, Abril would have beat Rios and Lara would have beat Williams.
We would get the right results.
It should happen.
Compubox is accurate, take a round from the weekend's fight, count the punches landed and thrown and you will see how accurate it is. I have done this and it is accurate.
Plus it can always be checked by anyone that can count.

it aint happenin. i for one dont believe all this compu box statistic bull **** completely. they could easily be putting up better statistics for a favored fighter.

Power punches will count for more.
And you could have the scores totted up round by round, so you have to win each round.

I think what they could do is choose 1-3 Judges to be sequestered for the fight, (to eliminate knowing the outcome of the fight, the fighter has 24 hours to dispute the scoring of the fight and pay a fee. These judges could review the fight. Not the best idea but better than compubox. Most landed don't matter
will end up just like the ams. pitter pat, pitter pat. get ahead on scorecards, RUN.....bad ****ing idea. the difference between the ams and the pros is that the pros is THE HURT GAME.

That is why I suggested to modify it.

Like I always said, power punches are the ones that matter.
1 point for a Jab
3 points for a Power Punch
If punches land, they count, if they don't land they don't count, why make it complicated and open to interpretation and manipulation.
But why do we think were should penalise volume punching?
This would make boxing more exciting with boxer far more willing to throw punches and to trade.
Make it happen!
no, bad bad idea...you wanna leave the decision to 2 guys clicking on some button?...ofcourse not
You prefer the old system of old guys falling asleep for 48 mins
If boxer A land 10 pitty-pat jab on boxer B
Boxer B land 3 huge bombs right on boxer A's chin and hurt him.
Does boxer A win for you ?
A system like that would favor guys like Malignaggi who lands a lot of meaningless, powerless punches
Jabs should count for less.
