announcer harp on someone that was winning like that.....all his old post fight interviews with floyd from 1999-til now he has criticized him after ever fight. No wonder he went off on him after the Ortiz fight. They praising Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward and he is thoroughly outboxing the best lightweight of that era. Larry Merchant is funny, I know he respects Floyd as a fighter. I dont think he wants him to lose, he probably doesnt want to believe that he was wrong about how great he was to become

jesus how many i love floyd i hate manny threads are you going to make?
settle down.
Thankfully most of the fights I see on PPV are at bars where I can't hear crap. When I watch the fights again, Larry just spews garbage and I usually just tune it out.
Jim however I like.
As annoying as merchant is I like him he's funny always talking sh1t and he's the bad guy your always wondering what he's gonna say and truth be told as much as he hates on people he's getting paid to do it not a bad at all
Merchant is a hater since a long time. This video is disgusting, Floyd was really respectful, he was only 21 years old and just beat Manfredy who was a good fighter at the time, after the perfect performance of FLoyd Merchant tell him in the interview : you're only quick in the ring

Merchant like the guys that bang, plain and simple. I never understood why they insist on having him call fights he's obviously going to hate.
I love Larry, but Larry obviously doesn't care for people that practice the sweet science. That is fine, but he really takes **** a bit too far when it comes to Floyd. I remember during the Ortiz undercard he even made some crack about Floyd walking into the venue with his children, and even Lampley had to flat-out shut him down
"..OR, maybe he just wants to walk in with his kids, Larry!"
yeah i heard about that, like it was some marketing ploy lol....3/4 kids live with him lol

Mechant just easily gets bored but I think he also has a lot of compliments to floyd.
he gives him props on his talent but most of the time his is belittling his resume, fighting style, persona, etc.
The fight with Cotto was the first time I didnt hear him do like he usuallt does during and after one of Mayweather fights
Was he wrong though? Floyd hasn't lived up to his potential. He avoids fighting the toughest available opponent always. He's all about money with the least risk. Everybody know!
Could you please tell me how a fighter avoided the best opponents available when he has went 10-0 in his last ten fights all against current future of former champions....no one today has done that so I guess every other fighter is avoiding the best competition?
Dude whe Mayweather beat a Hall of Famer Genero Hernandez in his 18th pro fight he was criticizing Mayweather. Dude just always had an agenda with him. You sound like you are regugitating what you heard some so called expert say
if you watched all the fights for yourself and when they happened No one was jumping at the chance to fight Mayweather.....in having great years 1998-2000 he tried to make a fight with Mosley he moved up for ODLH, Freitas and Casamayor didnt want none at 130....and none of these "legendary" featherweights move up to 130 until Mayweather was at 135 or higher.
Hatton, Mosely and Cotto wasnt ready when fights were offered...he ended up beating them anyway.
Be realistic...outside a win over Kostya Tszyu at 140 for the title or beating Manny at 147....their was no one else that was gonna enhance his resume more than where it is.
damn I knew he was a hater but damn....anybody that has some type of skills good defense and movement he is a harsh critic but celebrates no defense B and C level fighters like Derrick Jefferson and Mickey Ward....just another casual fan obsessed with kayos and no idea the work and dedication it takes to master your craft
"derrick jefferson..........i love you!!!!!!"
im waiting for him to give that line for Seth Mitchell, the new Jefferson

Someone put that video up of Larry shoving a random dude just before he begins an interview. He's gonna do that to Ellerbe after Floyd's next fight, just watch.

He's saying Mayweather is supremely talented at what he does, but his fights are generally boring. That's not really hating that's just the reality of the situation. He is so good it takes excitement away from the fight.
it was kinda weird...this dude is clearly outboxing the best lightweight in the world. One thing he said was ," Punching and moving doesn't move me, but it wins fights!" and another I think was ," I wouldnt be here if I wanted to see the tour de france !!!" ROFL...**** was hella funnt but he spent the whole telecast putting Mayweather down.
