Because the change in boxing landscape since Ray's time. We can all conclude that it is impossible for current fighters to accumulate 173 Victories with 108 KO's
he faced so many champions because he fought many times in a year unlike today where a Champion usually fight 3 to 4 times a year.
--
So is it possible for a fighter today to accomplish something that could possible be greater than Robinson's achievements?
Fighters today don't love to fight, their just in it for the money. If they loved to do it they'd fight 6 times a year not once!
No one comes close to Sugarman, Seales was a good fighter, so was Mosley, Leonard is Leonard but theres only one Sugar! To even let others refer to them as sugar is so ridiculous. Are there any Babes in baseball? HA! Ray.
I think people get too caught up with this. Me personally, I could care less about Robinson being number one forever. I would love to have seen him, since he's widely regarded as the GOAT, but I didn't so that's that. I just enjoy fighters of the this current era and beyond; the fighters I will actually see with my very own eyes.
Don't be silly.
Lazer eyes are illegal.
But Sugar Ray Robinson actually breathed fire, how are guys now so suppose to overcome it with all these fancy rules~
rigondeaux will fight until he is 50 win all belts up to middleweight defending each lineal title 5 times and then once he is done that will fight the 1 and 2 p4p at the same time and get a double ko with one straight left hand.
once he has finished that he will defend the undisputed middleweight title 55 times in a row winning all but one bout against his cuban brother lara by first round ko, beating lara by 3rd round ko and killing all the audience in the process as two str8 lefts land simulataneiously and creates a massive nuke explosion as each glove is converted into pure energy by means of e=mc^2 creating a massive nuke, killing lara in the process but rigo feeds on nuke blasts and become bigger and stronger than ever before, he grows 4 extra fists and moves up to heavyweight and cleans out the division.
now rigo is the certified goat he moves to mma where he competes in an 8 vs 1 handicap match destroying all opponents with str8 lefts except anderson silva who he throws into the cage so fast that the cage breaks and wraps himself around silva, rigo walks off smirking with his hand raised as the crowd looks on in terror.
rigos career finally comes to an end when he dies of radiation poisining sustained in the lara bout he goes down as the undisputed goat whos career was cut remarkably short aged 52
:lol1: In b4 Donaire counters w/lazer eyes for the WIN!!!
I didn't mention floyd beating anyone he didn't fight. Thats just the standard post from you guys. as I said, SRR didn't lose to bums coming up, manny did.
The best don't lose to that level of fighter.
Floyd fans always say FLoyd would beat Morales and Morales beat Pac, so FLoyd would not only beat Pac, he is better than Pac. So if i read your post history, will i find you defending Pac then, saying you cant imply things like that? Doubt it. Have you already forgotten saying FLoyd wouldnt lose to Bradley?
Pac lost to singsurat, but still won FOTD. Obviously in the FOTD rulebook it dont say you cant lose to Singsurat guys (its perfectly acceptable) so you arent a boxing fan with your made up on the spot logic.
Well, Floyd lost to Castillo, didnt he? You said Pac lost to JMM didnt you? Real fans Dont bring up losses to opponents when they were nobodies, and if they do, they would take into account the reasons behind a loss.
ONly floyd fans emphasize things like Floyd wouldnt lose to Morales when Pac did so Floyd would beat Pac! Thats by far more worse than saying Pac beat common opponents better than Floyd. Saying Hagler beat Hearns better than SRL wouldnt be bad, if people were implying SRL was better than Hagler and would beat hagler. Bring the fact that hagler beat hearns easier would be fine in actual fact. But SRL fans arent wind up merchants like Floyd fans are they?
But FLoyd fans are forever the optimists, you have to give them that, but the only problem is they lose out and not seeing FLoyd actually fight anyone. Fantasizing about what they think Floyd would do, genuinely seems enough for you guys.
you have no idea what a real fan would do unless one told you.

floyd didn't lose to them either so I'm not sure about your point. As for beating them better, only manny fans emphasize that when it comes to fighters floyd beat first. No real boxing fan says that. Can you imagine someone saying well "Hagler beat Hearns better than Leonard did." Real boxing fans don't talk like that.
Manny isn't the best of his ime. SRR would never lose to a Torrecampo level fighter, no matter what age he was or what weight class he was in.

old timers will NEVER put anybody ahead of him no matter what. it's unfair really.
Is it fair that Robinson fought 10 times a year while Floyd fights twice a year for 20 million dollars?
These things are not always fair.

Hugh Grant,
Do you mean PAC is the best figher you've SEEN? Cuz RJJ is the best boxer in his prime I've actually SEEN.
I can't say about the old timers as I wasn't born in 1950's.
SRR was the best of his time. SRR can do no more than that. Pac is the best of this time. Pac can do no more than that. Pac cant be the best of SRRs time, cos he werent born. SRR cant be the best of this time as hes dead.Pacquiao the best of this time? You must be out of your goddamn mind, lmao!

I have Robinson number 3 behind Harry Greb and Sam Langford at number 1, but I agree with the concept of the thread. Fighters today just don't fight often enough nor are the constantly forced to take on the very best so we'll see no becoming the GOAT anytime soon.
think of it this way
pac could rematch bradley win by ko ...then ko floyd , then move uo , ko martinez and then move up n ko ward
SRR would still be the greatest
so no shot
If Pacquaio KO'd Bradley, Mayweather, Martinez and Ward back to back and won Lineal Titles at 147, 160 and 168 on top of his 4 Lineal Title's already then Pacquaio could easily be considered to be the above Ray Robinson.
He of course, won't do that.

That might get them top 20. It's far too late for either to make a run at GOAT.
I'd say that would certainly get them in the Top 15-20 mark.
But neither of them are going to do that :lol1:
Mayweather's got to fight Sergio if not Pacquaio.
Pac wouldnt have lost to Turpin or Castillo, and he would have beat Corrales, Gatti, and Hernandez better than FLoyd as well.

Nobody can defeat Ray in the P4P Rankings. Only Langford and a few others rank near Robinson in P4P Greats of All Time and I say it's still a fair distance.
Times have changed in boxing. No top level fighter will fight more than 4 times a year. They don't really need to with the money they earn. Plus, fighters are carefully managed today.
Men like Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Muhammed Ali ect. are made once in a life time. People with some sort of special gift.
People wish for more men like them but I always tell them the same thing....Those men can only be cheaply copied because there's never ever going to be another one.
Tyson is not even close to being as great as Robinson, Leonard or Ali why do people say such nonsense I really don't understand it he is without doubt one of the most overrated boxers in the history of the sport. Lewis and Holyfield where both greater.
