While I was watching the news this morning they had a quick interview with Kessler (from last night), where he mentioned Martinez' name and he indicated that both camps (managers) have been in contact with each other. Kessler even talked about moving down to middleweight.
He said something like "I've just moved up to light heavyweight, so I might as well move down to middleweight just to stir up trouble".
He also mentioned fighting Froch again of course.
What do you think about Kessler's plans to move down to MW IF the fight with Martinez happens?
Kessler @ 160 seems implausable to me!
Bizarre career move...
That's only 6lb above what i.e cotto weighed vs mayweather lol kessler is already a big SMW!! Maybe in his 20's he could have tried it but not now...
He looked totally free of any body fat vs green at 175...taking 15lbs off is silly talk!

Hey bro, what's up. A little confused by your post. Which 175lb fighter did Ward make come down to 168 again?? I missed that.
Well, Dawson mentioned it first and Ward said "We'll make him come down to 168".....there was no intention of even negotiating a neutral weight. That is something I'll give Floyd credit for against Cotto, I can respect him for meeting Cotto at 154....I would have been cool with them fighting at 150.
Who will win? 168.
IMO Martinez doesn't get away with the same perforamnce he had VS Macklin.
Kessler isn;t getting knocked out either.
at 168 i will be rooting for martinez cause of the speed and the skill. kessler is a little robotic, though skillful as well. I couldnt pick a winner, but if i HAD to put a bet down, I would have no choice but to pick kessler
168 is intriguing?
There is a reason why Dibella has already stated they are too big at 168 and come as close to give an example of him losing by saying a good big guy beats a good smaller guy.
Martinez has faced guys who really aren't that good.
Cintron was an OK fighter, who he really beat but at 154, not 147.
Paul William's again was a beast at 147, not above.
Pavlik was a decent win, al though he was definitely not in form compared to taylor fights.
Barker and Macklin aren't all that. Mack had a good fight against a sturm who wasn't too active from my memory.
yes intriguing, as in kessler will outweigh and outpower martinez, which will show us what sergio is made of. to me, that is intriguing a fighter taking on a challenge like that...
Dawson offered it at 168, catch weight or 175. I wouldn't say he made him do it, because every man has a choice. I assumed you didn't know about that fight. LOL.
You assumed wrong, entirely.
Ya'll dudes are talking just to talk. Martinez moved UP from 154 to challenge Pavlik (who outweighed him by 11 pounds on fight night)
The only 154 pound guy he fought was Dzinziruk who wanted to move up to 160 to challenge him. Pavlik, Barker and Macklin are all MW's and bigger than Martinez.
He's shown enough balls to move up from 147 to 154 and now to 160......clowns like Ward make 175 pound guys come down to 168 for a fight and ya'll are ok with that but Martinez must "grow some balls" and move up to his 4th weight class to be a man?
GTFO with that wack stuff.

i dont see kessler makin 160 without having trouble. at 160 sergio beats him either way. too much skill and speed combined with a drained kessler does not bode well for the viking. at 168 this is a hell of an intriguing fight. I still give the edge to martinez...
martinez will continue to challenge 147 and 154 boxers who can sell tickets... no way he is challenging guys 1 division above his...
but he said himself he wants to be the #1 P4P fighter... so why not grow some balls and fight someone like kessler at 168?... it will boost his stock and might catch some attention from the casual fans...

martinez would never take that fight. hed rather pick on the smaller cats
Oh, right...the long time jmw is picking on smaller long time mw guys. If Kessler moved down to 160, Martinez would kill him. Kessler would be drained and he would not know what the heck is going on with Martinez' style and eat lefts to the face all night.
Kessler moving down to a full 160 is completely & utterly unfair to him. Martinez better not be talking bout that. He should at least allow a catchweight of 166. (Unless Kessler wants it to be for the middleweight strap).

Yea I agree with that. It's doubtful he can make 160, while still maintaining his health and comfort. If Martinez would be able to move up a bit, perhaps to 168, it would play out to Kessler's advantage. Although, I do believe Kessler in time could adjust to MW. His power would be a force to be reckoned with in the MW division, as well as it currently is in SMW.
Go Team Kessler!!!
Why doesn't Sergio meet him at a catchweight?
God forbid Sergio move up in weight.
I just don't believe Kessler can make that healthily, regardless of his bravado.
