He had an exciting style, one of the most prolific punchers of the bantamweight division going 40-3 (33 kos)went 2-2 in one of the greatest series of all time especially for the little guys. also won the wrold title at 122. Wins over Tim Austin and Mark too Sharp Johnson help his case as well as a long dominant tenure as the IBF champion
Erm, yeah? Why not? If Rocky Balboa AKA Sylvester Stallone can be inducted why not Rafa?
Dude had one of the most amazing trilogies of all time with Vasquez. (Yes I know a fourth fight happened, it doesn't exist in my mind)
oh yeah
should and will
people forget how good he was at BW. monster at 122 as well. speed, power, very technical. beautiful combinations, just like his brother and ricardo lopez (lopez is by far the best fighter of the three.) he was a top p4p fighter for some time. his time on the ring p4p list outlasted his actual status as a top flight p4p guy, but at his best he was a monster
he'll be remembered for three of the best fights you will ever see against israel vazquez. fourth wasnt awful, either, but both men were shot to shazbot, especially magnifico vasquez. i dont think he could even see properly at that stage. obviously not a fight on the level with the first three, especially the second and third.
^ you ignored the fact he is an all time great at 118, the resume he has which is clearly superior to hatton's all to keep beating that point to death over and over.
Where have I disputied that his resume is better than Hatton's?
Well Azumah Nelson was only on p4p for four years too. Does that mean anything at all regarding how great he was compared to Rafa or Hatton?
I didn't use the P4P list to justify anything.
No it doesn't, he probably had a better resume than both of them put together. There are other much more important factors involved to keep talking about that one misleading fact
Again, I didn't use the P4P list to justify anything.
I simply used an example to show that being on the P4P list for multiple years doesn't really mean anything.
Because the reasoning being used was "Marquez was on the P4P list for years"
Well, as was Hatton.
It's really not difficult to grasp the obvious connection.

Rafa belongs in the HOF for his streak at 118 lbs, the fact that prime for prime he could compete with any 118 lber that I can think of, and the fact that he is one half of arguably one of the greatest boxing rivalries of all time. Period. And Hatton doesn't have absolutely anything to do with it so I don't even understand why he keeps getting brought up like its relevant

why is this now about Hatton? you wanted to prove me that Marquez was NOT longer than 4 years on the list. and I proved thats not true. and Im not sure if Hatton was on the list 2009 but it doesnt matter cause Hatton should never have been on the list EVER. hatton is not bad or anything I just think he never was p4p material. but he had some skills too, but it was all dirty, rough and tough style with rabbit punching, lowblows and all that other crap. not a p4p fighter to me
Because by your logic, Ricky Hatton should also be a HOF'er. Which, he shouldn't be.
Hatton, nor Marquez has a resume that's worthy of the HOF. And just because they were both on the P4P list for a few years doesn't mean they should.
And Hatton was on the list in 2009. He was removed once he retired after losing to Pacquaio.
Man, he should get in for Vazquez trilogy alone, that's what boxing is all about right there son. Put it all on the line, one win i remember is against "too sharp", had to give him props.
Hatton was on the list also in 05, 06, 07, 08 and 09.
So, both were on there for 5 years.

Rafael Marquez 5 years in the top 10 p4p:2005,2006,2007,2008,2009

Hatton is 4 years on the list which is a joke imo. and hatton will also be in the HOF btw. I dont think he deserves it, but he will be.

You're mistaken.
And, like I said, the same logic you are using for Marquez to be in the HOF means Hatton is a HOF'er also.
Ricky Hatton was actually once considered a Top 5 P4P fighter and was ranked above Marquez in the list for pretty much the entire time they were both on the list.

it was a disgrace that hatton was ever in the top 10. he was listed in the top 10 the first time after he fouled the sh_it out of Tszyu for the whole fight. had nothing to do with boxing really. Marquez was a highly skilled pugilist, has nothing to do with Hatton-rough-and-tough-fouling kinda fighting.

Depends how you define very long time.
He was in the Top 10 P4P for a few years, 3 or 4 years. As was Ricky Hatton.
Doesn't really mean much in the grand scheme of things.

he is a HOFer. no doubt about it. he was also rated as a top 10 p4p fighter for a very very long time if I remember right.
