Jesus Christ did anyone ever actually watch Marquez in his prime?
the "he gets hit to much" " he brawls" only applies to his later past prime years. He didn't fight like that most of his career.
Saying Chavez would beat him is more than reasonable.... but not because of what he's shown in his late 30's that's stupid
besides this comparison is flawed, Marquez was a career Featherweight that moved up in weightclass in his 30's
they wouldn't be able to meet in a prime 4 prime scenario
Chavez would have the advantage from the start.
these are two fighters that fight with passion so its a hard
choice also the weight plays a big role but if I had to choose,
Chavez sr. is my choice by a slight margin
IF the fights at 130 I favor Marquez....he was closer to his prime had the advantage in speed, defense, and counterpunching. Chavez was naturally a little bigger and thicker, was stronger and had intelligent pressure. I just see Marquez landing the more effective punches. Their power would be virtually even.Chavez shots are heavy and thudding but Marquez punchers are sharp slicing shots. Both would be worst for wear considering both could be hit. Marquez has always shown great stamina especially at the lower weights. At 135 I favor Chavez who was probably at his absolute best here and Marquez would be older and slower easier to hit
At 135 Marquez gets stopped, bad. At 130 he losses a ud. Marquez is a fabulous counterpuncher but he gets hit too much & no one stays 12 getting hit cleanly by Chavez. A suspect chin won't help either.
i'd pick Chavez Sr
JMM tends to brawl whenever going gets tough and thats not going to make it easy for him either coz JCC is a very good pressure brawler
.......wait, you're matching Chavez up against the 40 year old LW/JWW Marquez?
i'd pick Chavez Sr

Interesting fight. I wonder who Mexicans would side with in this one? I'd be on team Marquez :boxing:
The crowd would be crazy... Chavez being reguarded as the greatest Mexican fighther of all time VS arguably this eras best Mexican fighter... I wouldn't know who to root for my self. It's a 50/50 or maybey 51/49 for Chavez sr.
I think it'll be a question of JMM can take Chavez pressure & body attack or or will JMM just time him coming in & counter his body attack well enough. Iether way I see Chavez winning a hard fought decission 7 rds to 5.
