I just watched HW prospect Szpilka's demolition of Gonzalo Omar Basile and am impressed with this kid (he's only 23). Szpilka fights out of Poland and went pro in 2008. After a 18 month prison stint (brawling with soccer hooligans) he's amassed a respectable 11-0, 9 kos pro record.
As for his fighting style, best way I can describe him as: he's a cagey southpaw who picks his shots well, employs good movement, has good power and has that 'killer instinct.' He stands at 6'4'' (although he looks shorter) and usually weighs in the low 200's.
Here's some of his fights:
Szpilka's last fight:
Haven't heard any news about him since the Mollo fight last summer. I'm hoping he has another fight this year against a decent opponent.
Two killer KO's against Mollo... don't know what's next for him. Who promotes him again?

:lol1:
Badass sig m8. Another case where the ref should have immidiately waved it off.
Agreed....
the KO was spectacular but other than that he didn't impress me.
Would love to see a fight between Chisora and Szpilka, if only for the prefight controversies.
Szpilka is a solid prospect but he does have his flaws. To his defense though, he's only 14-0 and he's still learning in the pro ranks and he's very entertaining.

He's fighting Mollo first in the US. Im not sure what card its on but it will be televised in the US. If he wins that he'll fight Zimnoch 3 weeks later in Poland on the Golota/Saleta card which which be a big one in Poland.
2 fights in 4 weeks??????? NICE!!!!
So, anyone know of anyway I can watch his upcoming fight? Big fan of the up and comer.

I thought that too, he looks undersized as heavyweight. Maybe he'd be better suited as a cruiserweight. However, Mike Tyson was short at 5'11 but he managed..
He's 6'3/6'4 and solid at 235-240lbs how is he undersized? Mago, Glazkov, Mitchell are all lighter or shorter. He crouches and fights small which may give that appearance but isn't undersized.
He won a wide 10 round UD against Mccline but got his jaw broken in the 6th round so he's out for a few months while it heals. Magomed Abdusalamov fights Mccline on the Vitali undercard so it will be a good comparison to see where both prospects are at although Szpilka has alot more time being 8 years younger.
Artur Szpilka.....
Anyone here a fan of this guy? Polish heavyweight prospect. Seems exciting to me, one of my favorite up and comers alongside Omar Figueroa ...so whatcha know about him? I'm sure this thread will flop by the way.....
He was fighting as an amateur for some time, I think he was even national champion.
Szpilka could've been really good cruiserweight, but now he's only short overweight dude who leaves himself open while attacking and base everything on his power that will not be game-changing at world class level. I don't see the future for him.
Updated my opening post - thanks for the correction.
As to your assessment, I think it's overly critical. I'm not claiming that the guy is the next Corrie Sanders but he does show potential and he's far from being "overweight" as you stated. Also, let's face it; there aren't too many "world class level" heavyweights out there right now. The Klitschko Bros are world class but the rest of the division is a level below. Spzilka may be able to beat some of the guys in that level...

He's too short.
