I was explaining to my g/f yday about TopRank/WBC and the JCCjr debacle etc... and deadly serious, she said "And you still watch this stuff?! It sounds like Wrestling!" Caught me off guard a little bit... From a non-fan's point of view, this sh1t looks even more ridiculous than it does to us.
I was like 'Well, it's not all like that.... There's other promoters and sanctioning-bodies that are slightly better..."
It's just embarrassing. I know we've all thought this: 'If I ever became a super-billionaire, I'd love to buy all the sanctioning-bodies and turn them into one REAL organisation with REAL rankings. Only one champion per weight. Not-for-profit, with strict drug-testing and mandatory defences. No Sulaiman-type figure doing what he sees fit, instead have an elected board with every pro-boxer ranked in the top 100 of any weight having a vote.'
But no. We have this turd soup.
I read it...
As for the topic, most casuals, and non boxing fans I know think its all rigged and filled with BS. They dont think its fake in terms of the contact, but scripted to an extent, and with predetermined winners...
yeah i've had a few people say this, and it basically is true (you're entire post). you look at fights like rios/abril and cloud/campillo, you realize the only way that fighter would have won is by knockout and it didn't happen. it's def one of the reasons why some people believe the sport is in the gutter.
i had a conversation with my ex gf about boxing once...she said the same thing...said it was all corrupt and fake at times
i didnt explain anything else...i asked her to make me a sandwich
Does DUBBZZ make good sandwiches?
Bring your wife/gf to a live show I'll give you a 80% chance of having one very horny woman when the shows over. I sold alot of seats in my time and one of the best draws was the effect seeing live boxing has on women especially ones that say they don't like it!! Liars!!! HA!! Ray.
Exactly, and that doesn't stop them from watching either. My favorite quote from the casuals: "It's a business." In all honesty it is, but not in the way they're thinking.
Sure. All sports are a business really. Its that motivation to be on top and make the big bucks that drives alot of the athletes. I guess boxing just differs as the sport where you can make TONS of money without having to win against the best AT ALL TIMES. The lack of a governing body holds the sport back I think.
Boxing needs a more solid structure imo.
I am a hermit with my boxing. Any time I try to get people involved or have friends over to watch, it ends with them asking me
"How do you watch this ****??"
To each their own.
That's it though and when casual fans hear more about the curruption and BS it puts them off. That's partly why I think alot of semi fight fans prefer MMA... A fight is made and the fighters just do it and that's that.

nobody cares about you or your gf:booty:
Fair enough, that wasn't really the theme of the thread. Perhaps I spoke in too personal terms. But really, why post at all? Fecking troll cunt

Is that why you now have 43,000 posts on a boxing site?
Was it tough finding another?

Most people will stop reading here and go to a different thread. Because that's where you "effed up" as they say.
