If i'm not mistaken, Cotto doesn't have a promoter. I think he's gonna do like Floyd, just partner up with other promotional companies to make fights. So Canelo vs Cotto could happen maybe next year.
yeah i think ur right he left and started promotions miguel cotto ;)
thanx
i think alvarez beats cotto if they ever fight, but would their promoters let them any where near each other?:boxing:

According to Liulun, Alvarez carried Mayweather on PPV with his slugfest against Matthew Hatton and the always dangerous Shane Mosley. Since he is such a big draw that he was able to carry two Mayweather PPV's he should be able to get 500,000 Mexicans to buy the fight :puke:against the tomato can he will be fighting in September.:puke:
The truth is Alvarez will not have any PPV success until he fights either Miguel Cotto or Floyd Mayweather and those two will carry the PPV, not Alvarez. He may be popular in Mexico, but like the Phillipines, no one pays for PPV in the poverty-stricken country of Mexico; and no one will will pay even $19.95 to see him fight James Kirkland in a fight that should be on Boxing After Dark. This fight will draw few PPV buys than the ESPN PPV featuring Mexican superstar Antonio Margarito vs Kermit Cintron (50,000 PPV buys).
Canelo-Hatton was it's own main event, on HBO WCB.
It was Canelo-Gomez, on a split site, and Canelo-Mosley. Still, I agree it's ridiculous to say Canelo has carried Floyd's PPV's. When Floyd participated in the DLH and Hatton fights in 2007 generating over 4 million PPV buys with those two fights, Canelo was a 16 year old kid.
Canelo is going to need more than just the Mexican fololowing to be a ppv success. The Mosley fight was a start in getting a broader recognition. Now he needs to follow with name opposition. He has too many fights under his belt to be softballing. Not many non-Mexicans are going to pay to see him beat up on a Kirkland who has a bum shoulder and could'nt fight a lick when he was healthy.

I let you in on a secert Canelo has been carry Floyd with PPV numbers you see all those Mexicans in the South West and in Mexico have been purchasing Mayweather fights to watch Canelo. Canelo dosn't need to be on Mayweather cards to make big PPV numbers.
Wow. Thanks for enlightening us. I had no idea that Alvarez was responsible for the 2.4 million PPV's that Mayweather/De La Hoya sold or the 900,000 that Mayweather/Hatton sold or the 1.4 million that Mayweather/Mosley sold or the 1.09 million that Mayweather/Marquez sold. I was under the ridiculous impression that Alvarez had only participated in two Mayweather PPVs and I can't remember who he fought in the last one.
Based on what you are saying, Alvarez and the Corpse he will be fighting in his PPV in September should generate at least 1 million PPVs since he has been carrying Floyd for so long.:crackhead

We're going to see these magical numbers that Canelo puts up for Floyd, after September 15th, when the numbers come in, if they do come in. Canelo will blow every one away with his 150k PPV buys.

This is true. I think the pressure will have no effect on him at all. He has been a pro since he was 15 years old.In the ring he is a cold blooded killer, as calm, confident, and focussed as Mayweather was at his age.
I think it is a good time to check out his drawing power. I think Williams was a more ddangerous fight but Kirkland is still a decent fight, it should at the very least provide action.
If he can pull 300k or more he is a real big star and on the way to super stardom.

Williams yes, Kirkland no. Kirkland is still and alright fight I expect him to win, but it won't be the same numbers as a Williams fight, who is also a bigger challenge. If Alvarez does decent numbers, it'll speak volumes about his marketing ability
good point, just wonder if its too much expected of him and too much pressure, i highly rate him but wonder if a loss would damage his career after such a promotional push by golden boy:boxing:

makes sense, just like the amount of cotto fans that drove the ppv figures up ;)

People don't seem top understand what a strong Mexican fan-base he has. I think that he's on his way and he should be putting up some real numbers in 2013, as long as he keeps showing improvement.
He got to start somewhere. 250-300 buys is a success, IMO.
Also depends on who is opponent is.
And GBP got a roster full of young talent. They not dependent on Canelo at all.
...putting to much faith in the young champ??? is he under pressure, i know he is young but he is very experienced.:boxing::boxing:
