I mean, the man fought virtutally everybody through out his damn career. Look at the list of hall of famers and great fighters he faced. Yeah he lost some fights, but who the hell would go through that list of fighters without a few losses? I feel he doesn't get enough credit today. Agree or disagree?

Yeah thats the annoying know it all! If you dont agree with him you dont know anything about boxing or you are a new fan to boxing..LMAO
haha yeah, total pretentious snob and strikes me as an insecure fellow, probably overweight? lol Seems like a good dude overall though, I like reading his posts.
is that really jro? I was wondering what happened to him...

Oscar is an ATG. The same people that hate on him turn around and favor a boxer for the same shit. :lol1:
No matter how great you are no one would of gone through Oscar's resume undefeated.
This.
It is, yes.
That's hella funny. Thanks man.
People dont argue with this dude. He is the Encyclopedia of boxing and has been a boxing fan since he was a toddler!!Oh and he is a Tito and Pacquiao nutthugger to the max!! Right JRosales13, thats why you lost your original Account and thus use an AlT.. lMAO

I know people don't take me serious about this subject. But, it is one thing to think Oscar won the fight. I'm OK with that, what I don't understand the word robbery connected to it or that Oscar won 8 clear rounds. He really didn't. I thought he won 5 clear rounds and then there were 2 or 3 swing rounds that could have went either way. You could have given all of them to Oscar and that's how you could have Oscar winning or you could have given all of them to Tito and have Tito winning or a draw or whatever. But, a robbery? 8 clear rounds?
I also don't get Oscar being such an ATG fighter. Good fighter? No doubt, HOF'er? Has to be first ballot IMO. As soon as he is in the ballot he needs to get a check next to his name. Fun fact about Oscar, never fought a guy with a losing record. From his first pro debut, to his last fight no one had a losing record. And, that's pretty cool IMO. Every greater fighter that you can think of, SRL, Hearns, Hagler, Roy, Mayweather etc etc at one point in time fought a guy with a losing record at least once. So Oscar talented fighter, good fighter was brought up very well by a great machine like Top Rank.
However, not as great as most make him out to be. He just isn't. And, a prime Floyd beats any version of Oscar. Just too much skill and smarts from Floyd to lose to Oscar. Anything Oscar could do Floyd could possibly do it better. I don't see how any version of Oscar could beat a prime Floyd. And, with Pac, meh I don't know who would win. But, I think Pac gives him hell. A prime Oscar would not have an easy time with a prime Pac. Even if he wins it would be close competitive maybe even questionable.
Agreed.
I scored the fight for Oscar but it wasn't a robbery IMO. I think it's easier to score the fight for Oscar than it is for Tito but I can see how it can be scored for him.
Everyone in this thread except for Mak and IronDan has to be fairly new to the sport. That's the only explanation for such comments.

bingo
notice how all of them to a person mention only the fights Oscar's had above 140 acting like anything below didn't exist?
140 and below Oscar was a beast a fighter who utilized his height and power
147 and above it caught with him and while there were more marquee match ups his performances weren't ideally the best
I don't see how anyone can call post 140lb DLH underrated at all
Oscar was a killer 140 or below but he was wasteful and did not accomplish very much for all the advantages he had~
Most guys get shit for beating up on guys that are midgets in comparision and you want Oscar to get praised for that very thing.
He beat the **** out of smaller guys good for him, when he fought guys of similar size he was much less impressive. To me that speaks volumes~
Oscar maybe won 4 rounds against Floyd, that is being generous.
How they called that fight a SD, was amazing to me.
Even Kellerman criticized the decision right after.
That's not watching the fight that is going by what boxrec said...Or maybe they did watch and just going by what HBO said...Kinda like thinking Oscar won 8 CLEAR rounds against Tito and therefor calling it a robbery. Because, they let the nuthugging commentators affect the way the fight is actually going.
Dazed asked the TS to name those 8 rounds.
I'm still waiting on it.
I agree, at 135 he was actually somewhat of a beast. I thought he had the a terrific combination of size, speed, power, and strength. And, his resume isn't bad in that weight-class at all either especially for such a short period time he was there. Beat, Leija, Molina, I think an underrated Ruleas, destroyed Rafael Ruelas in just 2 rounds, pretty crazy for me anyways at that time, Chicanito Hernandez, even Maromero Paez isn't a bad win IMO. And, that was in what a total of 3 years at that weight-class? Pretty good IMO.
But, at 147 and higher meh, I don't think he is underrated. I think he did a good job at that weight on fooling the new fans going to boxrec(for example Floyd-Oscar was close cuz' it says SD) and just seeing name after name. But, I don't think he was impressive or great at those weights. Below 140 looked like a beast.
I'm still at a loss that anyone actually thinks Oscar won more than 4 rounds against Mayweather
ATG, but a bit overrated.
He fought everyone tho, I give him props for that but what was his signature victory? A coked up and fat Vargas? Over the hill Chavez and Sweat Pea (who he arguably didnt beat)? Ike Quartey?
and he would not beat Mayweather today in his 147 prime.
A coked up and fat Vargas? That was roids Vargas.
Oscar is difficult to rate. When you look at his qualities individually, he should've been a much better fighter. He was not a sum of his parts.
Inexplicably?
Floyd started countering him with a right hand every time he threw a jab. He didn't just suddenly stop throwing the jab. Floyd adjusted and took it away.
Then Oscar resorted to flurrying like he was trapped in a phonebox filled with bees. All the while Floyd was deflecting them and countering with good hard punches.
The fight was not close.
Well I completely disagree about the jab, I'm talking circa round 7. Oscar dispenses with it inexplicably in order to flurry, without a technical answer for it ever appearing from Floyd. But you're right about the fight in general, looking at it again for the first time in a while, it really wasn't as close as I thought.

Yet he loses by a controversial split decision as an old and over the hill fighter? Nice try.
you really thought that was a split decision
screw what the judges said what did YOU see?
anything close for Oscar and I really have to question whether people saw the fight or not
The fact that people really believe that Pacman beats a prime Oscar at 147 proves how underrated Oscar is. This is the same Oscar that kept Tito Trinidad in check with a masterful jab. imagine if that was a 5-6 Paccy at the end of that thing?? 12 round comb or late stoppage.
I agree, a prime Oscar beats both Pac and Mayweather. Oscar was the fukin man and his boxing ability, ring intelligence and left hook were legendary.
Overrated by some underrated by others.
People don't remember he actually lost most of his big fights.
But then again some people think he's just some kind of *** that can't fight.
For all his flaws he actually fought some of the toughest guys while being the cash cow.
More than i can say about a couple of other guys in such a position.
