If your chin isn't great you'd damn well better have some heart (see Khan vs Maidana, Mitchell vs Witherspoon, Marquez vs Pacquiao etc...). Bute more or less quit as soon as he was hurt.
IMO Bute left his heart at home for this fight. He reminded me of Cotto's atitude and mentality prior to his Floyd bout.
After this *performance* I think it's safe to say that Bute's chin hasn't been tested before at pro level, not in his title defences and definetly not in sparring. I think he looked at it too much like a job or sport and wasn't mentally ready for war. And tonight, faced with a real battle he folded.
Surprised at how easy he was getting hit for an out boxer, amateur accolades, olympics yada yada.
Bute wasn't a great amateur really,just a good one.
He didn't even go to the Olympics.
This is what the super 6 can do for you!!!!

Froch is like a gladiator who was unleashed on a standard Roman soldier. The difference in skill level is so great.

It's not like Bute got hit once and took a nap. SMH at some of the fools on here
He got hurt and clinched after the first damn right hand Froch hit him with.
Holy **** he withstood an absolute onslaught. His chin is fine. Do you really think you'd take it? You must have an iron chin bro.
He took a beating, his chin was checked and it got checked ****ing hard. Nothing but props to Bute. Froch is a mean dude.

Froch's power was overrated, because he didn't stop anyone at a world class level? Like the guys are just gonna let him tee off on them without him having to set anything up. Get out of here with that ****. It's harder to finish guys at the top. It's that simple. Fighting guys with world class skills is different then fighting part timers who are in it for the paycheck.

Agree, his chin is fine. Maybe not granite but he can certainly take a shot or two (or a few hundred lol)
He was hurt by every clean punch Froch hit him with. That's not a chin that's "fine."
No doubt he took a lot of punches but the reason he did is how he was affected by the first blows. His legs went stiff and he just stood rigid on the ropes. Froch just threw the lead right hook and landed flush every time.
So yes his chin was good in the fact that he stayed standing for so long but he was just like a zombie when he got buzzed so in that sense his chin was poor
looks to me that Bute can't take any sort of a punch though, he was stumbling off of Froch jabs alone
also doesn't look like he takes punches to the body all that well either
he style is all about he speed, reflex and timing, that is his Defense, because he couldn't time Froch Punches correctly he ate a lot of punches I am sure was not in the Gameplan to eat and clearly he thought Froch was much slower then he original anticipated

I'm going by what others said. Going into every fight in the Super Six, people said all Froch had to do was land one clean shot and he would finish everyone he fought. Literally, before every fight a sizable group of posters would say something to that effect. That spells overrated, and hadn't been backed up at all by anything Froch did in the ring.
I know it's harder to stop guys at the top, no need to act like I said Froch can't punch.
Thing is, for a guy with a reputation as a slick boxer, every time Bute got hit, he froze, which allowed Froch to tee off.
I think, for all of Bute's confidence, mentally, he was just never in it.
Straight up glass. Froch's power ended up being overrated, when outside of Taylor he hadn't stopped anyone at a world class level. The fact that every punch he landed clean on Bute hurt him says bad, bad things.
Johnson, Abraham, Kessler etc have chins of steel & Wards seems pretty damn good as well.
Froch is very heavy handed!
Considering how much how often he got hit flush Butes chin held up pretty damn well.
Bute held on for dear life several times in the first round after getting hit with some just okay shots. I'm not talking about bombs here. The punches that finally knocked out Bute had more to do with Froch's power, but the way he took punches on the lead up makes his chin look very vulnerable.
