According to Oscar De La Hoya, these are possible undercard fights. He's actually tweeting about it as I type.
That's not a bad undercard, but ONLY if Maidana's opponent is Victor Ortiz. 3 months is plenty of time for Ortiz to prepare. Or maybe Guerrero if he gets by Mini Tyson. But if he fights a tomato can or even a B class fighter, its unacceptable.
Maidana will not fight anyone he's going to lose to in September. He'll probably fight Morales in a rematch. That could set up a fight with Pauli or a rematch with Ortiz/Khan.
Ortiz vs Maidana is an HBO main event type of fight. Both would probably get paid a million each. I don't see it happening in an undercard.
Its not an HBO BAD card, though. Its a PPV. Meaning HBO wouldn't have to take money out of its tight budget to supply these guys. And Maidana would be lucky to even get 500k after what Devon did to him earlier this year.
Canelo vs Williams just isn't enough to make me fork out $59.99. It'd have to be a dual main event with another fight that's just as good. The only reason I suggest Ortiz-Maidana is because Canelo-Ortiz would be HUGE next May if both won.
do people really think maidana would beat ortiz at welter?
I don't. Ortiz would just bully and outwork him. I mean Alexander managed to make it look like he was the aggressive guy and Maidana was the boxer. I actually think he's on a decline to be honest. The Maidana that pushed Khan to the limit hasn't shown up since.

WTF?
This is an incredible card if it happens... if it's an Ortiz rematch I'm buying this for sure!
