My god what happened to this guy??? He was a slim and slick HW fighter around 200 lbs, with great skills. It's like coming to America killed his dedication or something. I remember hearing about him during those Olympics thinking he could be the next great thing at HW. Fast forward 8 years, and he's weighing in at 267.5 lbs at 6'1''.
I'd understand putting on some weight to get bigger than 200 lbs for the HW division. But he shouldn't have put on anymore than 15-20 lbs. It's just sad to see what this guy has become, when he had so much potential.
around 230lbs would be fine for the Klitschko's IMO. They both have been weighing in at around 242lbs lately, 12 lbs isn't a lot in the heavyweight division.
They have never weighed as much as 250lbs, despite what some people say.
He's another HW i was excited about, he's still not quite as fat as Solis.
But he weighed around 200 as well before he turned pro, and even weighed around 220-225 in his early bouts. Now he's all the way up to 240 or so. I just don't get it.
I mean I guess 230 is alright for that guy Perez you know? He packs a powerful punch and he showed it in the prizefighter tournament. But against a Klitschko he's too small, tiny arms. Solis has like an 80" reach! He definitely could be something if he cared.
Everyone just stop and think Pedro Diaz is his trainer! How good of a trainer can this guy be if Solis comes in looking like this?! I mean he got one of the best Cotto's to show up for the Mayweather fight but damn, you think Emanuel Steward would train a guy to look like this?
how do you go through training camp and look like this?

He could have actually have worked his ass off and still look like this if he is binging on junk food.

get sparring partners who are fatter than you.
I agree that Solis's ideal weight should be in the 215-220 range. However, in today's heavyweight environment, Odlanier might be a touch too small at those weights. In my opinion, 230 might be a happy medium. Sadly, even that weight might be too much work for the kid. I'd call Solis "dedicated" if he came in at 230.
Solis has never weighed less than 246 in his whole pro career. Average weight in his career is 256. What you're asking I think is near impossible, he never showed any intention to be in great shape going all the way back to his pro debut when he weighed 259.
I understand getting bigger than when you were an amateur, where he weighed in around 200 lbs. But he didn't have to get THAT much bigger. He could have, if he was dedicated, put on 15-20 lbs and weigh around 215-220 and be a solid HW. He would still have had his great speed and he was fairly slick when he was lighter. I don't think he wants it. If he does want, he'll lose weight, so we'll find out.
Malik Scott when he was in his early bouts weighed around 220-225, and just beofre his long layoff due to injury and promotional problems, he weighed in at 255 and was pretty fat. He made his return after a long long long layoff and looked re-dedicated, weighing 225 at 6'3''.
Solis needs to re-dedicate himself and lose 20-25 lbs at the very least. If he could get into the 240's, he'd still be fat but it'd be a start. If he could get into the 230's, I'd be surprised and he'd be well on his way. If he were to slim down to the 220's, I'd be SHOCKED.

Solis is a small heavywight. Even 230 might be acceptable for him at 6'1". He just doesn't want it.

Someone told me it's because he fought Haye around that time, he was never the same after the Haye fight even though he won. It was like Taylor was never the same after Hopkins, even in victory. Haye basically retired Solis even before he turned pro. So I heard from someone who is connected to Haye on Twitter, but it sounds unlikely.
He's not just fat as a fighter, he's fat for an everyday regular person.
True story. Solis looks like your typical fatbody lying around North Miami Beach chuggin' suds.

As a professional fighter, I would be embarrassed to take my shirt off looking like that. :nonono:

Also, your sig is funny as hell. Clearly a Brit who's talking out of his ass. These clowns think prison is like Blood In Blood Out or American Me.
Ha, I know. I dunno if he was just trollin or if he was serious.
He looked real good as an amateur. I was so pissed off when he sat down against Vitali. Was hoping it would have been a good fight.
He was crafty, slick, and quick. Had he stayed dedicated, and only put on 10-20 lbs, he could have been the next big thing at HW. Now, he's just another fat HW, something this era of HW's has had way too much of.

Amen, is Cotto's trainer training him? I mean where is his dedication? Look at Mike Perez too, a very good middleweight and heavyweight amateur and at 6' he's weighing in at 240. Cubans seem to get lazy when they leave the island.
