Let me start by saying, if Pacquiao had in fact made the remarks attributed to him in the original story, which include that homosexuality is an abomination, and citing the Leviticus scripture that calls for gays to be put to death, then Pacquiao would deserve everything coming to him.
I'm not here to debate politics or religion, I'm here to discuss hate speech.
Upon further examination of the original story: http://www.examiner.com/article/pacquiao-rejects-counsels-obama-god-s-words-first
You can see that the word abomination is never put in quotations, meaning it was not a direct quote from Pacquiao rather an editorial from the author Granville Ampong, whom I have warned people about for years.
Secondly, the author never says that Pacquiao cited the Leviticus scripture that says gays should be put to death. The wording made it ambiguous, but if Manny had cited that inflammatory scripture, it would have been made abundantly clear that he himself cited it.
The author has come out and said himself that Manny never said that.
The damage has been done though, and since everyone believes the first edition and never does the retraction stick as strong, Pacquiao's rep has taken a huge hit.
My question is, will the media who condemned Pacquiao without doing their research humble themselves and apologize when the dust settles?
No point in defending Pacman at this point. He needs to retire after the Bradley fight.
Pacman is surrounded by morons. They're the ones who persuaded him to enter politics. Now this religion thing. Every thing extreme is bad.
:usa2:
yup, Pac IS surrounded by idiots I agree. Like I said before, him entering politics is a dumb move. He really should retire before it gets even worse. With him not performing as well inside the ring and having negative press outside the ring, it's not looking good.
The dumbest thing is that you guys can't accept that he did in fact quote the bible.
I like when he says, "I've never even read the book of Leviticus."
He knows Gay Marriage is against the bible, but doesn't know where in the bible it says that.
Typical catholic.
just fyi, I live in the US hehe. But you're right tho. Plus, if this topic still doesn't clear up in a couple of hours, expect pinoys that lives in the Philippines to start commenting here, since they're probably still asleep (5:30 am there right now)
Thing is, here in the US, the media breaks and makes you. So until the media clears up the fact that Pac did not say the words 'death to gays,' then this will only snowball. It's all about ratings & earning $$ from clicks and viewership.

You guys in the Philippines need to pay attention to what's going on in America today via cable TV, if you have one. America is split down the middle when it comes to politics. A small minority of independents decide national election outcomes here. Issues like abortion, tax, gay marriage, race, etc. are very divisive issues. You don't want to touch on them if you want to maintain balanced relationships especially if you're a celebrity, and keeps you away from unexpected, unnecessary troubles. It's like getting the necessary pre-orientation before going to Saudi Arabia or middle eastern countries. The analogy may be a bit extreme but that what comes to mind at this point.

why would they?how many bull**** stories are reported about mayweather yet no one ever apoligizes so why would they now?because he's pacquiao?and even if pacquiao didn't say it he sure meant it
Elaborate on what that original definition of what marriage was supposed to be.
You mean in the times when women, and their possessions, were literally property of their husbands? When they were traded for other commodities?
It's up to the individual as I'm not talking about my personal stance, rather the individuals who do oppose it and use the bible as reference.
From a biblical standpoint, Marriage was originally intended to be between Man and women
From a legal standpoint, and for those who want to keep the laws the way they have always been concerning marriage.......It's between a man and a women.
All I'm saying is that if you want to hold onto those traditional views, that doesn't mean your anti-gay, rather you just want to keep things the way they have always been.
While I'm neither for or against gay marriage (It's not for me to judge what a person does with their life) I can see both sides of the argument.
I just think it's foolish to label someone homophobic or anti-gay just because they are against it, when it's nothing more than a person having a certain view on a controversial topic.
yup, time for Pac to retire. I won't be surprised that if Pac KOs Bradley, he will kneel down next to Tim and pray, lol.

and i know what floyd does to guys like you :blowjob:
:lol1:
Don't be so upset. This is good news.
You pac fans were worried pac was losing his killer instinct. Clearly he isn't.
I see that you only view things as either black or white...with no gray area between.
You can be against Gay Marriages if you want to preserve the traditional definition of what Marriage was original intended to be.
Now if you are against it because you despise Gays and view them as people who don't deserve rights.....then I can see where you are coming from
However to think one thing equates to another is as dumb as saying your racist if you oppose Obama's political views or you hate black because you didn't vote for him back in 2008 (since you wanted a better analogy).

either you must be my biggest fan here or you're one of floyd's appointed leader of the gay rights movement here.
you here to get my autograph or give me a leaflet?
:lol1:
Just checking to see if you are alive. I know what manny does to guys like you.
OF COURSE YOU AREN'T. He stopped letting you pole smoke once he found god. Monday your slurping, Wednesday your dodging bullets as you run down the street with Team Pac chasing you yelling "die f@g". Been a rough week for you.

I never like celebrities getting involved in divisive issues.
It's proper time for Pac to take at least a year off and take a long hard look about the negative effects of politics and religion and focus on just being a family man.

I almost feel like Pac deserves the bad press even though there was negative spin put into it that he might have said or not. I hope he learns to just stick to boxing instead of putting his 2 cents into everything.

i can agree on this. this 'religious' pac, i aint much a fan of.

I agree.
People should learn to keep things separate, and that includes governments (such as the U.S.) who use religion to determine laws.
that's a atrocious analogy.
again,
saying you are NOT AGAINST GAYS but AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE IS DOWNRIGHT STUPID AND INSULTING TO PEOPLE THAT ARE INTELLIGENT.
"im protecting the sanctity of marriage and the instution" = i hate gays and i dont want them to have the same rights as heterosexuals. Its just a pc way of saying it.
The day that bestiality is as part and common and as big in life as homoexuality is the day that your analogy makes sense.
