Should Shane Mosley get in the hall of fame even if he used steroids?
Should that count against Shane's legacy?
Should it lessen Shane's career?
Should he automatically be disbarred a la baseball?
What's your guys take?
Yes the number that got away with it far exceed the fighters popped for it,also Mosley wasnt trying to gain advantage i truly believe he did it for injurie purposes.can you ever remember a shane mosley just brutally beating people outside of 135,now look at Pacquiao goes to hell with fws and then is stopping wws and having atgs run from him.
What are you trying to say? Cotto was gettting stunned silly at 140 and did better at heavier weights.. Malinaggi was kding people at heavier weights. Martinez got beat at lighter weights etc, etc, etc.. It just means Pac was drained at lighter weights and really does better at higher ones above superfeather. You sound silly trying to justify PEDs ish.
How would you qualify those though?
Title defenses...Ottke has a high amount of title defenses.
unifying is cool. But, then again there too many belts. That unifying is lossing it's meaning by the decade. Seriously what if the IBO becomes a big time belt like the WBO did late 90's/early 2000's.With so many competing interests controlling boxing, stringing together a hard line of criteria is more difficult than I thought it would be.
You mentioned some of Shane's good wins and even losing a close fights counts for something.
Lets pick another HOFer...say Evander.
Foreman
Holmes
Bowe
Tyson x2
Moorer
Mercer
Buster Douglas
Ruiz
Rahman
Qawi
now for some draws/losses.
Bowe x2
Moorer
Lennox
Ruiz
Byrd
Toney
That is a resume for my hall of fame.
If you ran the IBHOF, what would be your criteria to get into the HOF?Quality wins. Title defenses. Unifying divisions. Fame. Consistent quality of opposition. There are so many factors I could really go on and on. I would say character should also be a criteria, but then we would have to throw out half the damn fighters already inducted.
SSM got his rep as this unstoppable fighter beating mediocre lightweights. Beating Oscar, Marg and Holiday is solid but losing to Winky, Forrest, Floyd and Manny is exactly what I mean by losing your way into the hall of fame.
In a sport like boxing we have a history of corruptness and cheating throughout it's existence. For some reason, I think PED's aren't as big of a deal as loaded gloves by far. PED's don't make you super human. Even guys who use them can lose. They basically maintain your health. Nothing more.
HOF criteria isn't all that stringent, he'll still get in
people will get over his controversy
popularity goes a long way as far as HOF goes
that Balco thing didn't really smudge Shane's rep, people still liked him
I would say no with or without the steroids. I wish more Halls of Fame were like the baseball hall of fame with ridiculously high standards to get in. In an individual sport like boxing you can pretty much lose your way into the hall of fame by staying just relevant enough for 5 or so years.
no his career is based on a lie
if you even touch PEDs you area disgrace to the sport and a cheat- that counts for anyone
no one is bigger than the sport itself
roy jones out then?

Shane should be kicked out of boxing

His resume is definetely good enough to make the HOF.
the overwhelming perception of shane's greatness has been his two oscar performances.
take those away, shane really doesnt have that great of a resume. even the oscar win, how great of a fighter does oscar eventually end up in ATG rankings?
how much is that worth?
Nope, I'm a big believer in zero tolerance, its the only way to stop athletes disgracing their chosen sport. If it is proven that you have taken PEDs (in any sport) then its a life ban for me, no excuses.
So ready to read the double standards from some fans.
I mean they're quick to say someone career should be questioned if they cheat. Shane Mosley along with other boxers like Toney, Vargas, Jones, n etc cheated so their resume should be questioned as well. Why should a person with a questioned career be in the HOF right?
they are all cheaters but toney, shane, and jones are hof

exactly.
Most of Mosley's top opponents, was likely on PEDs as well. Only difference is that Shane got caught. I think its a very difficult question.
Should he not get in because we believe that he was one of the few that juiced? Who'd believe that? If he does get in does that send the proper message to the kids?
Ultimately I Think he should get in but put an asterisk next to his name.
i never thought shane was that great to begin with.

huh?
what steroids was henry armstrong using when he was a 3 division champ at the same time & the likes?
& vargas to the hall of fame?
I didnt say just PEDS, and I never said Henry was on them. What Im saying is their was a bunch of illegal shyt back in the day like Mob fixed fights, trainers rubbing shyt on fighters gloves, etc
Its not fair to the fighters of today.
And I wasnt saying Vargas was a HOF , I was using him as an example of another high profile user.
We would have to keep out Holyfield, Roy Jones, James Toney, Vargas and countless of other fighters who have used PEDS. So to all those guys screaming NO for Shane can't have double standards with these guys and several others.
As much as I love these fighters I have no problem with leaving them out. Their legacies are already tainted.
