I voted he should try to get the Ortiz vs. Berto winner. I think with the proper diet and exercise 147 is his best weight. That is a fight I think he wins and he is a champion again. If he really is weak at 147 then go after Canelo because win, lose, or draw it's his biggest payday but I think he loses that fight. He is way to small for 160 in my opinion.
Not too surprised to see Canelo at the top of the list. Mark my words if that fight were to get made, Cotto would get brutally KO'd. Nonetheless, I would like him to go after the Berto-Ortiz winner, those are very winnable fights and would be good wins. That could then set up 1 last big fight, perhaps a rematch with May or Pac, I would most especially like to see a rematch with Mayweather.
Canelo is definately the best choice, they would do big numbers and would be a great fight stylistically.win/win for both guys. And for the record Canelo is no hype job.
i picked go after Canelo....its about time Saul steps up his comp...and its a winnable fight for Cotto, another title at stack and at this point I think he beats Canelo but I doubt it happens...they wanna build him up he is young but really, he doesnt have anywhere else to go its time to fight some top 10 junior middleweights
Fight Martinez
Go hard or go home. He's in the Top 3 right now in the game by most standards. The match up favors Cotto from a stylistic standpoint, this size is what'll be the main issue. Fight Martinez and win...he'll be in a prime spot to get a rematch with either two big wigs
I can't call it. Interesting to see what Cotto does end up doing though. I falsely predicted he would contemplate retirement. The announcement that he will fight two to three more years is good news, but I don't think he'll get the rematches he's hoping for.
Cotto v Canelo could be a great fight albeit a high risk low reward fight for Cotto. If Cotto wins they will say that Canelo was a big hype job to begin with and if he loses they will say that he had nothing left after the losses to Margacheato and Pacquiao. Canelo would be a tough test for Cotto as he proved he has a tough beard after taking some big shots from Mosley and I don't want to hear how Mosley was shot or is old or whatever because this is the same Mosley that starched Margacheato just a few fights back so he still has some pop. Cotto's saving grace in this fight is that he looked great against Mayweather, compared to what everyone thought he was going to do and I credit that to his new trainer who worked on Cotto's biggest weakness, stamina!
On another note I have to give props to Mayweather, as much as I can't stand the MFer, he did go toe to toe with Cotto and gave a fan pleasing fight and although I am a Cotto fan Mayweather clearly won the fight even though I had the scores a little closer than the judges at 116-112 Mayweather. Cotto definitely has gained some new respect and fans for the performance against Mayweather. I have watched all of Mayweather's pro fights and the only other time he was touched as much as this fight was against Castillo I, so props to Cotto for bringing it.
Cotto's new trainer is legit. This fight proved it.
What should Cotto's next move be?:dunno:
Vote and discuss.

A hypejob to me is someone who is so hyped up and hasn't done jack. Canelo doesn't fit that category. Maybe earlier in his career.
You know how shit goes around here. Most of these guys just started watching boxing after DLH-Pacquiao. I agree with your version of a hype job. That's why I see Jr as one.
He has done more than most of the guys you have as current favorites. Yet you want to call him a hypejob? Shit!
I agree. The kid has a lot of undeveloped potential and is very young. He is not a hype job in no way, shape, or form. I'd call Chavez Jr a hype job before thinking about even considering calling Canelo a hype job.
This guy... Lara punks Williams and somehow he is a monster. Cotto gives Mayweather one of the best EVER the toughest fight of his career and he can't beat Lara or Canelo, people really don't know sh*t about boxing.
Pactards are not people.
retire
he's not beating any of the elites at JMW
he got a nice payday and a gutty effort to retire on
don't see him taking Canelo's punches all night if they fight
Lara has too much boxing game for him
he can beat Kirkland, but there's danger of a KO for Cotto there
nothing left to prove, and almost all his options are dangerous
Cotto isn't durable as a JMW, and he's not going back down now
might as well call it a career

I know what you mean, but maybe we should give him one more shot before we write him off. I think he earned it, and I sure as hell respect Miguel a little more than before. I didn't expect him to put up THAT good a fight, I forgot that styles make fights for a sec...

fight martinez . win or lose retire
Why retire after fighting Sergio? Cotto is not even a jr middleweight, and specially not a middleweight. No shame in losing to Martinez. Cotto put on a hell of a performance on May 5th. Anyone else would have been beaten to a pulp that night by Cotto, Floyd is just on another level.
