Let's assume guys in the Top 20 in each division. Champions, contenders, and top prospects.
What percentage of Top Boxers are on any form of PED's?
Steroids
Testosterone
HGH
Clenbuterol
Diuretics
Stimulants
EPO
Etc
...all WADA banned substances
Alot more than we want to admit and alot of big time players in the sport i bet are. Sucks this happened cause no boxing for a minute but glad it did cause it opened the eyes of the boxing world that it is out there and better testing is needed
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
If useless, then why they all be taking this stuff?
Exactly.
A bunch of excuses for cheaters because they know in their hearts that their favourite fighter uses that stuff.

What percentage of boxers are American? you'll be pretty close to your answer.
Statistically significant!!
In athletics, we are always talking about small differences.
Imagine making Manny Pacquiao 2% faster. What good is a punch that misses by 1 inch? 1% in a 100 meter race means that I beat you by three feet. What is the spread between the top 40-yard dashes at the NFL combine?
Look at how the 100meter record has dropped over time. Until Usain Bolt, it was always coming down in one one-hundreth or two one-hundreth of a second.
I love how NSB's community college dropouts who drive a forklift now know better than PhD's who have worked in physiological research for 20 years.

Period.
Caso cerrado.
Dont make him out to be some kind of idiot, he's completely right, there is a limit on caffeine levels in NCAA.
Limit is 15 mg/mL, Go over and you fail the drug test. You may be learning this for the first time but caffeine IS a drug

What is the status of caffeine?
The status of caffeine has not changed from last year. Caffeine was removed from the Prohibited List in 2004. Its use in sport is not prohibited.
Many experts believe that caffeine is ubiquitous in beverages and food and that reducing the threshold might therefore create the risk of sanctioning athletes for social or diet consumption of caffeine. In addition, caffeine is metabolized at very different rates in individuals.
Caffeine is part of WADA's Monitoring Program. This program includes substances which are not prohibited in sport, but which WADA monitors in order to detect patterns of misuse in sport.
The 2010 and 2011 Monitoring Programs did not reveal global specific patterns of misuse of caffeine in sport, though a significant increase in consumption in the athletic population is observed.
What is the status of actovegin?
What is a specified substance?
The NCAA bans caffeine. Probably the olympics too.
So, if I have a can of Pepsi or a coffee on the morning of a race, I will be banned?
Iced tea would earn me a two year ban?
Is that really your position? No... REALLY?

"There were significant differences in the lung function tests between the PSE and placebo conditions. The differences were small and likely to be clinically insignificant. "
Statistically significant differences but extremely small differences, now why would they say that....

Oh maybe thats because for each of the tests there was a 1-2% increase in performance over placebo. I said it was a stimulant and pretty much useless, 1-2% is pretty much useless, my point being there is way better stuff out there.

The worse thing about this board nowadays is that nobody says "I don't know" . Anybody who has driven past a community college thinks he is a frikkin PhD.
Here is a published scientific study that shows that pseudoephedrine (the active ingredient in Sudafed) DOES provide athletic performance benefits:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2014984/
Conclusions
The administration of a 180 mg dose of PSE increased maximum torque, produced in an isometric knee extension and produced an improvement in peak power during maximal cycle performance, as well as improving lung function.

If we knew the real statistics we would be incredibly dissapointed.
If the question is looking at the top 10 fighters in each weight class, how many are on PED's i would say 8 out of 10. Let's ask Victor Conte.
Sudafed is a stimulant and banned in the olympics. But its pretty useless as far as giving any advantage in sports.
The NCAA bans caffeine. Probably the olympics too.

Is a stimulant not a performance enhancer?
What are you saying here? You are trying to parse the language too finely, and you end up not making sense. The very reason that WADA prohibits them is because they may be used for performance enhancement purposes. That is the very foundation.
Which of those drugs are you saying have no performance enhancement /benefit?
And stop with the silly cartoons, or you won't participate in this discussion.

it is not many gifted fighters today, so guys have to cheat to keep up and compete with the Few Gifted Fighters
I think the number is EXTREMELY HIGH, MONEY provides so many loop holes to these test, GBP and Top Rank, big Promotions like that, I am sure they have connection to allow their fighters to KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE TESTED!
Sadly I think it is some fans who KNOW their favorite fighter(s) are cheating, but they really don't care, kinda like that dumb A$$ Skip Bayless who was trying to DEFEND PEDS and was saying stuff like "WHO CARES!"
Ok now lets see an article where it says how
If you're not able to make weight and a diuretic helps you get there - you're fighting thanks to the help of a substance that isn't allowed.
That will allow you to shed extra water weight which allows you to lose the required pounds without any of it being lean weight - water weight can be gained back from weigh-in to fight night no problem, lean weight cannot. That's enhancement.
Thing like Diuretics and weed are not performance enhancing
Its not that hard to understand

Abstract
Diuretics are drugs that increase the rate of urine flow and sodium excretion to adjust the volume and composition of body fluids. There are several major categories of this drug class and the compounds vary greatly in structure, physicochemical properties, effects on urinary composition and renal haemodynamics, and site and mechanism of action. Diuretics are often abused by athletes to excrete water for rapid weight loss and to mask the presence of other banned substances. Because of their abuse by athletes, diuretics have been included on The World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) list of prohibited substances; the use of diuretics is banned both in competition and out of competition and diuretics are routinely screened for by anti-doping laboratories. This review provides an overview of the pharmacology and toxicology of diuretics and discusses their application in sports. The most common analytical strategies currently followed by the anti-doping laboratories accredited by the WADA are discussed along with the challenges laboratories face for the analysis of this diverse class of drugs.

Types
Anabolic steroids are a type of performance enhancing drug that builds muscle mass. They are a hormone that increases the appetite, bone growth, and protein synthesis needed for the rapid development of muscle tissue. Anabolic steroids have a number of serious side effects, including a lowering of the voice, increased hair growth, and a shrinking of the testicles in men.
Powerful diuretics — which increase the frequency of urination — are used to artificially speed weight loss to enhance performance. Users can suffer from troubling side effects, including light-headedness and even fainting spells. Particularly controversial is the fact that users are often young people in sports where weight can be a critical factor, such as gymnastics or wrestling.
Performance enhancing drugs are not limited to sports, however. Beta blockers, a drug primarily used to manage heart problems, but which also lowers the effects of stress hormones, has found relatively widespread use among musicians. These drugs lessen the body's "fight or flight" response, which can arise under the stress of a concert or audition. Taking the drug helps musicians manage their stress and approach their performances with confidence.

Its not that hard to understand
Also, diuretics are used to try to mask or flush away the evidence of other drug use.
