I'm going to pretend that I didn't read that. Carlos Flippin Quintana gave Williams a boxing lesson and he doesn't have 1/6th of the attributes that Mayweather has. And don't tell me Paul has evolved since then because he hasn't, and the Erislandy Lara fight proved it. He's very overrated. It would be Mayweather-Corrales all over again, except it would be much quicker because Williams doesn't have the punch resistance and heart that Chico had. Size means nothing if you don't know how to use it and Williams doesn't. He's one dimensional. Floyd would beat the living hell out of him. Even if Floyd couldn't hurt him, Paul still wouldn't win any rounds because Mayweather's defence and ring IQ would just completely befuddle him. It's basically a bigger B level fighter vs a smaller A plus fighter. Size doesn't win fights, being smart wins fights. Mayweather is much smarter than Williams. He would just counter the sh*t out of Paul for the entire fight.
I don't see anyone right now from 135 to 154 that is a serious threat to Mayweather right now. Guys like James Kirkland, Andre Berto and Amir Khan aren't even remotely close to his level and would all struggle mightily just to win a round against him, nevermind the fight itself. Timothy Bradley got outboxed for long periods against Junior Witter and struggled to beat Kendall Holt, I don't see him giving Floyd trouble either. I don't see any of them beating him but I think Martinez and Alvarez would be the most competitive of all of them. Who would be more competitive? I would say probably Alvarez because I think Martinez would try to box Floyd and that just wouldn't work. I think it would be like the De La Hoya fight but more one sided towards Floyd because Martinez isn't as skilled as Oscar. Alvarez would pressure him, and with his youth and strength I could see him getting the better of Floyd here and there, he's a smart fighter too.
I agree, Canelo might be his biggest challenge out there. If Floyd stays in the game long enough and fights Canelo say 2 years from now, Canelo will retire him.
Like in the title, is there anybody that you'd pick to beat Floyd Mayweather if he was his next opponent. At 147 and 154.
For me, only guy that I'd pick to beat Floyd at the moment is Paul Williams at 154, I really can't see Floyd dealing with him and his crazy output plus range right now. It would still be close probably, but I'd pick Paul to win a decision

What's one punch power? lol he is fairly heavy handed.
Martinez wasn't even considered a big puncher until he stepped up to MW at that weight he has power no one is denying that but not one punch K.O power looking at his career he has a K.O percentage slightly over 50%.
Having true one punch K.O power is pretty rare in boxing.
How about the one punch power that he knocked out Williams with, you know the guy that had never been stopped before and had a pretty solid chin.
That is the very definition of one punch KO power, From perfectly fine to out cold in less than a second, what more do you want?
He has one punch power, whether it's KO power it's debatable. But give me a current boxer who has more than 1 real 1 punch knock-out fighting top level opposition?

Only Martinez.
The only reason he could is because of his size, he's far too big for Mayweather who doesn't belong any higher than 147. At 147, nobody beats him.
What he said ^^^
Wow, you think that Pacquiao has a 90% of beating Mayweather? I can tell if you're just joking or actually being serious. I'd venture to say that Mayweather would be easily a 3-1 favorite to beat Pacquiao. I wouldn't favor any o those guys to beat Mayweather.
You would be wrong with the odds, bookmaker have the fight 50/50
I can't see how Floyd beats Pacquiao, his only chance is to run, move constantly and have the energy for that and hope that Manny has an off night can catches him with nothing big.
Imo, martinez has the greatest chance. His lead left could be problems for may. On the same token, martinez is known to get out of balance, so i could see a couple knockdowns happening, with may winning on the cards. Personally, id rather see a martinez fight than a pac fight.
I'll rank them by they chance of getting the W against Floyd
Manny Pacquiao 90%
Sergio Gabriel Martinez 75%
Amir Khan 40%
Timothy Bradley 20%
Andre Berto 0%
Erislandy Lara 50%
Paul Williams 35 %
Saul Alvarez 35%
James Kirkland 5%
Kell Brook 20%

Cotto didnt expose anything. Cotto has what most of May's last fighters did not have, and thats a good stiff jab. Cotto has a well timed jab. Thats why he was able to land it on floyd. If you look at the other power punches that Cotto threw he missed. He busted Floyds nose with his jab. Pacquiao does not have a good jab. He can't fight like how Cotto fight's.
I think the Pac fans are mad because Mosley and Marquez have exposed pac for being a flawed boxer. Mosley because Pac couldn't finish him. Marquez because he embarassed Pac in his old age and in Pac's own weight class. So... they now want to use the Cotto fight to lash back at Mayweather. The thing is... Cotto lost clearly. Lets say you can find someone else that has a well timed jab... you still did not answer the question. WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO DO TO WIN against MAYWEATHER?
:no:It is the left hand not the jab

Good post Don...
amir khans stiff fast jab is gonna make floyd cry tears of blood
roy and leonard was right about it
reach
age
speed and power on both hands
stiff jab
power
Almost, it's not the jab, it is the left hand, need a high work rate and good footwork too.
I'm not overlooking his power its there its just not one punch K.O power.
One punch K.O power means K.Oing guys with one punch not dropping them or scoring flash knock downs.
Cintron is a poor example Cintron was hurt but he could have made the count Cintron wrongly thought it was a head butt he took about 5 steps backwards went to his knees and started saying "it was a headbutt". Hardly a demonstration of one punch K.O power.

PAC, Martinez & ORTIZ! There I said it Ortiz with out the pu$$¥ a$$ cheap shot!
Actually yeah Ortiz the 4th round with may was definitely a brutal round courtesy of Ortiz. More of that round Ortiz could have won. That cheap shot was a pusssay move..
Cotto's game plan came from that round where Ortiz was pummeling Floyd to the ropes. Vicious! Cotto saw that, and used his tactics.. it seems to work, cotto just gassed out on the 12th..
If Pac was the one in control, stamina, speed, and the most busy fighter in boxing.. Lights out Floyd..
