I think Augustus had him a lot more flustered and forced him to work harder than Cotto did, despite what Floyd says. What do you guys think, only vote if you've actually watched the Augustus fight please.
I don't mean tougher as in closeness but, tougher as in just participating in the fight taking more out of you, to clear up any confusion.
nahh. it was just the injury. if floyd fought cotto or augustus under the circumstances he fought castillo the first fight he wouldve lost. but without severe injuries floyd made easy work of castillo, unlike augustus and cotto.
Floyds hand injury was in the Cotto fight. In the Hernandez fight aswell but probable wore the wrong socks against Chavez, Vargas, Delahoya and Castillo.
Why even start this thread? Floyd said this was his toughest fight, so it's pretty definitive the guy that actually FOUGHT them said so. As stated earlier, Cotto his way harder, even if he hit less they hurt a lot more.
Yesterday I posted that I thought the Augustus fight was tougher so I went back and rewatched. The Cotto fight was a closer fight. Floyd put a beating on Augustus FAR worse than what he did to Cotto. I think both did about the same damage to Floyd but Augustus forced Floyd to open up and work harder than Cotto did. So I'll take Floyd's word since he was the one in the ring with the two and say the Cotto fight was tougher.

loved the cotto fight but the augustus fight was a way tougher fight if youve never seen it youtube it thet actually stood toe to toe and traded floyd did alot more moving against cotto
Cotto. Floyd had to really work vs Augustus but he landed far more easily against him and the power difference between Cotto and the drunken master must be massive, Floyd will still be feeling some of those body shots. Its the reason a fighter even when deemed unbeatable or in for an easy night should still do his groundwork, train hard get those sit ups in and bring his conditioning up, because if Floyd wasnt in the fantastic shape he was in those body shots could have changed everything for him....
Cotto cause I think Floyd got frustrated by Cotto not being as easy to hit cleanly as expected. Augustus was a tough fight and physically taxing but I think mentally Floyd got just as frustrated if not more cause not only was getting pushed by Cotto's offense there were rounds where he clearly got a little frustrated by not being able to land clean.
JOse luis Castillo was the toughtest......

augustus landed more quality punches and beat floyd up worse in the 8 or 9 rounds it lasted than cotto did over 12. augustus was also much easier to hit though and he didnt go the full distance like cotto or win as many rounds. but against cotto floyd was in control of the pace almost all night while augustus forced him to fight at a higher pace than he wanted to.
basically augustus was a physicly tougher fight, floyd took more damage and had to fight at a higher pace. but cotto was a more difficult fight, he won more rounds, was a tougher target and lasted longer. he presented more of a challenge overall.
Augustus was hitting Floyd with good shots but he was taking also a world of punishment while doing that . but cotto was not only hitting floyd, he also was winning more rounds and the fight. although he got robbed.
Yeah, Augustus was getting tagged an awful lot but he consistently walked through the shots and landed hooks of his own inside which routinely landed cleanly.

Oh, ....still close. Augustus
Cotto was slightly harder than Jesus Chavez.
I think Augustus was so much easier to hit. I give it to Cotto.

Floyd said" Augustus was tought but Miguel was tougher"
Yes I know he said that but from purely watching both fights did you not think the Augustus fight looked a lot more tolling and Floyd looked a lot more worried during portions?
