Since Floyd came back in '09 he's fought:
Marquez # 2 P4P in the world at the time (WW catch weight fight)
Mosley # 3 P4P and # 1 WW at the time coming off a demolition of Margarito
Ortiz # 3 ranked WW at the time if I'm not mistaken, coming off a nice win against Andre Berto
Cotto # 1 ranked SWW champion coming off 3 straight KO's against less than stellar competition
Who's next?.......
It's been very good.
The Marquez fight was a tremendous performance, he was punch perfect. Shane was the #1 WW in the world at the time and coming off a huge performance, yet another boxing lesson was handed out. Ortiz was coming off a career performance, was HUGE and prime, he was also 4 rounds into a lesson. The Cotto fight, well, Miguel's excellence speaks for itself.
In those 4 fights I gave Marquez 0 rounds, Shane 1 round, Ortiz 0 rounds and Cotto 3 rounds - that's 3 HOF fighters and a current world level fighter winning a combined 4 rounds in 4 fights.
Cotto come back fight instead of overblown marquez, pacquiao instead of inactive and newly hyped up mosley, pwill instead of ortiz and sergio martinez. now thats a legit resume.
Pac was the only reason the fight didn't happen in Early 2010, remember him refusing testing and straight up walking away???
Paul Williams was fighting at 160 and 154 in 2010-2011????
You're a troll. You just created your account and are probably Check Hooks, who has no life at all.
Mediocre. He's fought big names which cushions the blow to a lot of stupid people that he's fighting great fights when in reality, they're not the ones everyone really wants to see.
The Cotto fight, for example, is now be overrated because Cotto put up a slightly better effort than expected
it isnt really that good to be honest. one way or another fighters were never in their prime.
not that good??? name 4 better fighters you'd rather he had fought
If he fought the same jmm that fought Manny in November would the fight have been any closer?
Quite frankly I thought Marquez looked worse than ever against Pacquiao. Older, slower.
Floyd cheated Marquez on the scales but I don't know if any other ww could dominate JMM the way Floyd did.
If he fought the same jmm that fought Manny in November would the fight have been any closer?
Pretty good.
Marquez was a bad choice at the time, but with JMM arguably beating Manny at the same weight, and being #2 P4P, he should get some credit for that.
Mosley was the #1 WW, WBA WW champ, and #3 P4P after beating Antonio Margarito. He was viewed as the man at 147 when Floyd fought him.
Ortiz was the #2 WW behind Pacquiao after beating Andre Berto, and was the WBC WW champ. He was a good fight.
Cotto was the #1 SWW and WBA SWW champ, and Floyd went up in weight to fight him. It was an important fight for him to get on his resume.
I say pretty good.
And it wasn't Floyd's fault that he and Mosley didn't fight in 2005-2006, as we all know about what Shane had to say about it. It really wasn't Shane either, as I think everyone knew Oscar-Floyd was going to happen first.
The only potential fights in the next couple years for Floyd are Sergio, Pac, Canelo, Khan, Berto, all potential fights the next 2 years depending on what happens.
I hope he doesn't retire, he can still fight well for another coule years I think. He looked the same as the Mosley/Ortiz fights.
I said same.
I think it's been excellent, other than Pac Man of course.
Marquez was coming off a great win against Juan Diaz, people made a lot about the weight but Floyd isn't a massive welterweight. Floyd was very good but I think he could've stopped Marquez if he'd tried harder.
Mosley was the most avoided man in boxing (other than Paul Williams) and had to pretty much beg Floyd for the fight, Freddie Roach had already said no, even at 140. Floyd was masterful even after Mosley caught him in the second round.
I thought Ortiz had a good chance against Floyd, he was HUGE at the weight and had come off a great performance against Berto. Floyd had had a 16 month lay off but come fight night he was masterful again and Ortiz got what he deserved.
Cotto is a world class fighter and a future first ballot HOF'er, he's not the fighter of 3 years ago. He has a settled camp, he avenged the Margarito defeat and is comfortable at the weight. I had Floyd winning 116-112 despite him being in a weight class his body is clearly not designed for. He led on my card from start to finish but was backed up by Cotto and did take some nice shots but nothing like the Mosley fight. He could've stopped him in the 12th but he was leading enough that he didn't have to.
I have to agree... Pac-JMM III makes May-JMM look a bit better. It's still not a great win by any stretch, but it looks a lot better now than it did before the Pac fight imo.
I think his oppostion has been very good. A lot of people fall back on "Mosley was shot", despite a lot of people think it was a dangerous fight at the time.
Exactly.......

I understand WHY Floyd will fight Khan. But AK will never be ready for someone like Floyd.
Money. There's a lot of talented fighters that just don't have enough of a following to land mega fights.
Apart from Marquez I think it's been excellent.
Even that fight looks so much better than it did at the time because of Pacquiao-Marquez 3. I won't go excellent, but it's been very good.

Excellent. He's fought tge best opposition other than the little dude.
As far as what's next...i believe in 2 scenarios
A rematch with Cotto or
A co-feature with cotto- canelo and Mayweather- khan on cinco de mayo weekend 2013.
I understand WHY Floyd will fight Khan. But AK will never be ready for someone like Floyd.
