We know u can't hit floyd with effective hooks coz of his defense. And only cottos straights seem to be getting through; mainly left. The fighter to have a good chance would need a good jab in orthodox or great straight in southpaw. If they have a monster right to the body that may help. Cottos lateral movement helped so they'd need stamina n footwork.. And be able to pressure floyd with strength and power. Ofcourse they need great timing and savvy boxing skills. And another thing ppl overlook is that the fighter would have to have experience in the big fights..I.e not Ortiz
Sounds like pacquiao right? I don't think he is big enough or has the timing like cotto...Martinez may have a shot with the size advantage.. to fight at 154 would b ideal for Sergio being a MW but floyd is a small LMW so wouldn't fight him at that weight..I guess everyone's hopes is on pacquiao then?!
Prime DLH, Hearns, SRL, SRR, Duran, Whitaker, Pryor, and JCC all have the right tools. Hector Camacho at 130 and 135 too.
Of guys today, Lara and Martinez would both do it. If Pacquiao was better at cutting off the ring and physically stronger, I'd pick him too. If Canelo had better foot speed and was blessed with more explosive one shot power, he'd have a great shot too.
i would like to see robert the ghost guerreo fight floyd, guerreo is a volume puncher, accurate, gr8 variety, timing, movement and decent power, he's
5ft 9ins, with 71inch reach and is a lefty with a gr8 awkward style and is a smart thinker that can brawl and can box or fight on the inside..i think he has all the skills to beat floyd biut is maybe not experienced enough. what do you think (my 1st post by the way so be gentle :baby:)
they should ban you before me...youre in red mofokka
And your a troll that knows sheeet about boxing , people like you lower this site into sesame street standard .
Why are people still mentioning Martinez, Lara and even P.Will? These guys rehydrate 165-170 on fight night. Williams rehydrated 16 pounds against Lara, coming in at 169lbs. That's ridiculous.
So 10 years ago, Floyd should've fought Hopkins too, eh?
you're delusional if you think he can't beat floyd.
well see it like this
martinez gets hit in all his fights
mayweather is harder to hit still even after the cotto fight
Thread says tools. Not skills. So the best answer i feel is Paul Williams with his reach and output.
With a new trainer and a good gameplan, he's the only active fighter that i would give the slightest of a chance to.
Problem is paul is poorly coached and has too many bad habits.
In about 5 fights I would say Demetrius Andrade, it is tough projecting a prospect out like that especially considering how soft he has been in recently but when I look at him, a huge 154 pounder with long arms that loves to jab and fights from the outside.
I could be wrong but to me once he is seasoned he is all sorts of wrong for Mayweather.
