Thomas Hearns (147) - Given his height reach and jab, Floyd would have a hell of a job trying to get into this
Sugar Ray Leonard (147) ?
Sugar Ray Robinson (147) ?
Pernell Whitaker?
I think Hearns
People tend to forget he was handedly beating Leonard up until he gassedThat's for sure. If it had been a 12 round fight Hearns would have won on points by a good margin. It took Leonard alot of punches to get Hearns out of there. I don't think Floyd hits hard enough to KO Hearns without great risk to himself.
The only person 147 and below who absolutely, without a doubt beats Floyd is Thomas Hearns. Anyone else is up for debate.
SRR, Camacho, Cuevas, Chavez Sr., SRL, Duran, Pryor etc. all up for debate. Thomas Hearns walks through Floyd and stops him.
Are you asking just about out boxing him or beating him anyway they can? For pure boxing Floyd is as good as they come. His perfect fighting weight is 140 in my opinion but he is still great at 147 and very good at 154. I don't rate Whitaker as high as some. Whitaker's defense, jab,and southpaw stance would bother Floyd but Floyd's better offense and speed would win this fight. At 147 Floyd's chin and power are still good but not as good as when he fought at lower weights. The welterweights that might beat him are all fast boxer-punchers. Leonard had a good combination of speed. skill and power and would have a good chance to beat Floyd. Robinson was more of a fast, hard combination puncher than a pure boxer. Robinson got hit alot. Still I think Robinson could win by KO. Hearns is my best Floyd beater because of his height and reach. Combine that with good boxing skills, great hand speed and the best jab and staight right of any welterweight and I see a KO for Hearns. Jose Napoles had the speed, skills, and power to be even money with Floyd. If Pacquiao beats him it would be with speed and power because Floyd is a far better boxer. I favor Trinidad to beat Floyd because he was bigger and stronger at 147 and his left hook was such an incredible punch. Felix had underrated boxing skills and a fast hard jab and right hand to go with the hook. He also was a great body puncher who never got tired in his prime. If Trinidad beat him it would be with power, not outboxing him.Probably no one could box better than Floyd.
i hate doing these dream matches but ima join da club. mayweather is NOT beating hector camacho at 130-135. southpaw with the most ridiculous hand speed ive ever seen. the fastest man in boxing wen leonard retired. hector had soild pop kept u at bay at 130-135. even in the rosario bout, edwin was backing off at times he felt the sting. its unfounate hes remembered from wat he did from 1988 and on with da holding running and lackluster performances.wanabe fans or fans who took as punches as bobby chacon seem to forget how nasty he was from 1980-86,87 just wow
Floyd at 147 isn't all that great. Imo Hearns at 147 has to be a sure pick to beat Floyd. Leonard has to be another one. Duran and Whitaker should also be mentioned.
If Floyd loses, he'd lose in a stupid fight. He'd have to be drawn in to a stupid brawl, trying to entertain the fans, against a better "fighter" than him.
As long as Floyd is counterpunchng, using tight D, and using his legs when he has to. He can't be outboxed. Not prime Floyd at least.
lol same
Anyway, I think Mayweather has trouble with the handspeed of Khan and Pacquiao.
anybody is going to have "trouble" with that kind of handspeed
you dont get it from your sparring partners.
to say that he'll have "trouble" with amir khan to the point where it could lose him more than even a couple rounds is wrong. amir khan just lost to lamont flippin peterson. he went life and death with marcos maidana.
he had "trouble" with paul mccloskey
come now. prescott stretched him out
likewise with pacquiao. he's fast and powerful. faster than floyd will be used to seeing. but if those two ever fight you know damn well that manny is going to follow floyd around the ring all night eating counterpunches
perhaps robinson could "outbox him"
i tend to doubt, though. i tend to doubt that he'd even try.
147 lb robinson is one of the greatest punchers ever with one of the best chins ever.
fast hands
fast feet to close the gap
i think he'd try and "fuck floyd up," if you want to get technical.
at 147 i think burley might give him a run for his money with the boxing. burley could really punch and was a true slickster himself.
leonard's physical abilities and natural size would probably give him the advantages needed to outbox floyd. i dont think he has some insurmountable gap in skill that floyd couldn't handle. i dont think anybody does
mayweather is one of the greatest boxers i've ever seen. still, physical advantages that other large WW would possess (the great ones, obviously,) would be enough in my eyes for a select few to be able to outbox him
would hearns or robinson?
no. i dont think so, even if their skills and physical make-up would lend itself to that. i think they'd go out there to back floyd up and try and beat up on him with combinations.
why box with this kid if you dont have to?
if he somehow hurts you there's always the option to box later on and use your size and the ring with your longer steps.
I thought we were gonna talk active.
You bringing up top 10 All Time Greats and sh*t :lol1:

130? No one in boxing history.
135 I'd give the slight edge to Whitaker if they met at 135, but there are some other great lightweights that I don't know to well.
140? No one that I know.
147? I'd pick Hearns, Vernon Forrest from guys I know.
Generally from all fighters I've seen around Floyds weight-classes, Hearns is only safe pick against Floyd.
