Honestly.. I'm basing this off last nights fight ,which, IMO, wasnt the complete domination a lot of people made it out to be. I'm damn near in agreement with the judge who had it a draw as I had it 6-5-1 for Dawson (shrug), 7-5 if I don't score the first round even (which I did). the 7 rounds Dawson won, he won convincingly. There were a few swing rounds though that I felt Hopkins edged out with right hands and compubox was misclicking punches. The flurry in round 5 for exampel from dawson - the slowmotion replay between rounds showed that all 5 punches missed when Compubox said they all landed.
Ward, to me, is everything Hopkins was last night, x20. He will hold, he will use his head, on top of that, he is much faster, more active, better reflexes, countering ability, jab, everything is there that was missing from the old man last night.
The Dawson who fought Hopkins last night loses to Ward easy, very very easy. I just don't see how Dawson wins this fight based on his performance last night.
I'm not a Ward fan. I hate his clinching I hate his headbutting, but I respect the other skillsets he brings to the table and I'm a realist. Styles make fights, and based on that fact alone, seeing an expired version of Wards style last night do pretty damn good, I think he wins easy
Ward beats Dawson easily 9-3 Dawson is to inconsistent to me he lacks focus in the ring he takes rounds off and he doesn't let his hands go enough you can't get away with that against a great fighter like Ward
If Dawson was on his best night he would give Ward a lot of issues, Chad was really good on his night. I wouldnt be surprise to see either guy win it.
Bro.. If pascal didn't get tired in the last 3 rounds of the contest, he'd have won an easy fight against Dawson. Ward is more than capable of lateral movement without the risk of exhaustion. Dawson is getting a little too much praise here. He's good, but some guys ARE all wrong for him. This isn't a knock on his talent at all, it's just he hates movement, and he's an emotional guy. he still has that issue with his tank as well, as seen last night. He DID get tired down the stretch and his output dropped, he began forcing punches, reaching in, carrying his hands at his waste, breathing out his mouth, all the sure signs of a tired fighter - it's been the knock on him his entire career - the plus side? Hopkins being 47, so probably just as winded. I haven't seen ward tired, ever.
It's a good fight for 6, then attrition and style completely takes over. Just my opinion, i respect yours as well.I think Dawson had a bad night against Pascal. If he doesn't fight better than that he will lose to Ward. I think he is fighting better now than he did against Pascal and can beat Ward in a close one if he fights his best fight. He is not as consistant as Ward and if he has another average performance then Ward wins. Ward fights his best every time.I don't like Ward's style. He does to much holding and hitting, pushing and wrestling. He is a dirty fighter.
Before Dawson and Hopkins fought the first time I thought for sure Hopkins was gonna beat him right then and there. But just Dawson's length alone and his athleticism that he presented towards Hopkins made me more skeptical of Hopkins winning in the rematch. I'd have to watch the fight again to form an opinion of who won, but neither guy really did anything to make an impression on me as far as determining who won. But I do give Dawson credit for fighting Hopkins to a stand still for a big portion of the fight like he did. I know styles make fights, but I thought for sure the reason that Dawson lost against Pascal was gonna cause him to be in trouble against Hopkins and I was wrong.
With that said, I do agree that Ward would at least be a very tough fight for Dawson and it would at least be 50-50.
7-5 my ass. Hopkins won 4 rounds if you give him all the credit you possibly can.
Dawson-Ward would be really close. Ward would have a hard time doing what he likes to, but he can also do many of the things Hopkins was physically unable to.

Dawson not getting much praise because most who know boxing PICKED HIM TO WIN BY UD!
Dawson is a skilled fighter and a well rounded fighter, the questions about Dawson was all MENTAL and I think he showed Mental Toughness against B-Hop who is the master and messing with fighters MENTALLY IN THE RING
Ward is my guy, sure Ward CAN beat Dawson...but I also feel Dawson can beat Ward...but sorry I don't see anybody beating Dawson easy when he is AGGRESSIVE...Dawson wasn't aggressive against Pascal until LATE IN THE FIGHT...but when Dawson was aggressive against Pascal he was landing on Pascal pretty easily
In a rematch, Dawson DESTROYS PASCAL!
TOTALLY DISAGREE! And Ward is one of my favorites...but Dawson gives him SERIOUS PROBLEMS because Dawson doesn't allow his opponent to push him around and against the Ropes
Dawson is actually a Counter Puncher, this is why B-Hop really couldn't throw as much punches as he probably wanted to because he knew Dawson was too fast
With Ward I think the fight would be similar but with maybe a lot more exchanges between the two
I think the fight can go either way...but a easy fight against Dawson? hahahaha YEAH RIGHT, that dude is two skilled to win a "EASY FIGHT" against

Ward beats anyone around his weight, but would love to watch a Bute fight.
