Is he an already wealthy guy who just has free time and lots of money to go do some good interviews and mingle with fighters?
Or does somebody sponsor him? I just don't know how he does it but I would have to say that he is probably the best thing going in terms of boxing exposure... He's everywhere ALL THE TIME...
I like Ellie's style. One of the best out there. Ellie if you're reading this, keep it up. Don't listen to the negativity, I like the lay-back style and getting their day to day conversations and opinions, not faked and not hyped.
One of the best videos was in Mayweather's Gym last year when he ragged on Ellie. You have to have thick skin to take that, but we were able to see Mayweather as is.
This guy and Eaner are the only folks in this thread who have it right. On fight night only a very select few will turn a profit.... So tomorrow night in Atlantic City, where there will be 10 or more rows of ringside press, a few hundred issued credentials, my guess is that less than 20-30 folks will profit or break even for their work produced for that fight.
Most will spend $150 or more for a hotel room, some for 2 nights...some will fly there on their dime... some will pack into a casino hotel room 6 deep with other media colleagues to defray costs. Some will burn vacation days from their 9-5 to be there - after a year of fights, they might not take a real vacation, just a bunch of fight weekends to show for their year.
Most will make as little as $25 for their fight report... some will make zero. Some do it simply for the privilege of being at the big fight for free, with a bird's eye view to all of the action.
It's commendable and dedicated, but at the same time sickening to think as you look across press row how very few are making money - while the top fighters and promoters make millions.
pm sent homie
He only gets about 10k views per youtube video, so he's not making a whole lot of money off that. I would bet that his family is wealth y and that's how he has money
LOL at Elie posting on here.
10k views is good, but the problem is the click thru rates are variable, its all dependent on if people click your ads. I see people talking about their click ratio from adsense on other forums and Ive seen people who only make like $2 dollars with close to 5 thousand views, and people who can earn $500 bucks with 10k views. They say ad placement is key and from what people have told me they say youtube ads are more likely to be clicked than regular ads on a website or blog because they place them right in the video so your attention is right there.
A:
lol
promotors know Everything
B:
there's usually a nice spread of food at big fights but otherwise promotors do not pay the people sitting at press row
as i said before, very few people in the media section make any money at all. they pay their way to the event.
all they get is a media credential, which gives them the right to whatever original content they produce (your story, pictures, etc,) and a seat in the media section.
it's not always been this way, but the guys who make money are photographers and obviously the top writers. if you write a book and it sells you are making money

1. all good I actually care less about Elie but I did ask Lem because I like the dude he's a solid citizen
2. yeah I think if most people saw how Gabe struggled for the sport he loves they wouldn't be as hard on him as they are. I was the one who pushed him to Max after reading his stuff on Doghouse. I've known him for years and he is one of my closest friends so I know firsthand
3. of course everyone knows that but it won't stop them from respecting those who are worth it and not to those they can smell BS from.
4. yes we get a discounted rate for rooms, lunch is usually provided for press conferences, dinner for fights. That's about it.
After all you revealed, no wonder people hate Fat Dan Rafeal from ESPN, he was ****ting on some small bloggers on Twitter, and making snide remarks like calling one small time boxing writer "just some low life blogger ignore him". Dan is one of the few well paid writers and he seems to rub it in alot, to me if I were Dan Rafeal I would be humble knowing these small time boxing writers don't get paid squat instead of kicking them while they are already down for scraps just to survive. Dan is very arrogant.
Yeah someone cleared that up for me and said they removed the boxing and MMA section from fanhouse and didn't need them anymore. I guess I made a mistake and took the comments on Elies youtube video as legit, people were saying he got fired for the roach video.
wow, I apologize for the false estimates on Gabe and others, thanks for clearing it up. now it just makes me hate the sport more. The writers these promoters are ****ting on don't even get paid and only a few get compensation, its pretty damn sad.
Do the promoters even know you boxing bloggers and writers who dont work for ESPN or Yahoo or Ring, don't get paid?
Do they at least give you guys room discounts in Vegas or free buffetts to compensate for your traveling expenses?

Thanks for telling me, now I am really considering boycotting all PPV. That makes me sick to my stomach, no wonder people talk **** about Boxing, nothing but greedy ass crooked promoters with no consideration.
I remember some boxing trainer told me there is no money in Boxing....unless you are a promoter.
you're full of it today my man
most media get squat
I paid for my own trips my own rooms my own tickets if my wife wanted to go etc
everybody listen to this man. most of you have no idea what the hell you are talking about. most of the guys in the media section are local and they've paid their way. there are a handful of boxing writers in the world that get plane tickets and a room as well as a salary. a tiny handful. the rest are literally losing money to produce content.
for those of you who do not know, eaner is ernest gabion. he's the host of the boxing lab. he's talked in depth with more world champions in the last month than most of you will ever even see
to him you listen.
it's like there's only a few men who understand the value of a dollar around here.
nobody is going to give money away. for these guys to get paid they've got to make somebody else money. or work for themselves and get paid on their own.
youtube is not making the sort of money off of sechback videos that would allow them to pay him so handsomely. most of you need to get a clue.
you really think max boxing is handing out 50 K a year to gabe friggin montoya
i mean come on.
50 grand? plus whatever hotels and tickets cost?
come on.

Probably a lot of advertisements. I'd imagine he gets a decent amount of money from advertisement since people all over the world read his articles and view his vids.
Wtf are you on? Man you are really coming at me hard defending Sekbachs honor.
So you must have a youtube partnership then? Can you fill us in on how it works like Mr chi City did?
Backtrackin :bottle:
seriously, whats wrong with you? you post a load of bullsh_it about tons of pple, only lies and nonsense. and you are surprised I get mad? Im not Seckbach I am just a guy who watches his videos. its just about you spreading false information about everything here. you dont know anything about youtube partnership, copyright or about what writers earn. but you post your crap here as if you would know it all.
Every single person here on in this thread exposed your comments as complete nonsense. Why dont you post your nonsense somewhere else?
personally I dont care if Seckbach got fired or not. But what I do know is that you posted a load of nonsense and you have no idea what you are talking about.

false
Fanhouse was bought out from aol by The Sporting News. The Sporting News does not cover boxing at all so they had no use for Elie and Lem. Lem moved to Ring and Elie does his own thing
some straight talking out of your a55 right there
not even close he does not make nearly the money you suggest and does this out of his love of the sport more than the profit (or lack of) it brings
please stop with the false information about people I know personally
you're full of it today my man

Honestly Eli is a good guy, I met in NY and he stopped and talked to about boxing with a slightly drunk total stranger. There is no justifiable reason to bash the dude, and he understands how to get quotes out of people. To anyone who straight up hates him, I ask you this..
Look at what he has produced, tons of footage, is most of it not good?
Dude come the **** down, why you are so defensive when it comes to Sekbach? That was the word around that he got Fired. He never answered anyone when they asked him before. So thanks for clearing that up.
But seriously are you Sekbach or work for him or something you really are mad?
