Earlier today, the WBC announced that WBC super middleweight champion was being moved from the regular WBC champion to Champion in recess due to Ward’s left hand injury. The WBC then designed that #1 WBC contender Anthony Dirrell would face #3 WBC contender Nikola Sjekloca for Ward’s WBC title.
Ward said this on his twitter page “I appreciate all your support on the WBC situation. In my mind and in the fans eyes, I’m still the champ!!!. We’re gonna keep on working.”
As far as I can tell, the hand injury is already healed and Ward is merely waiting for a big fight to open up for him. It’s only been four months since Ward captured the WBC title from former champion Carl Froch, and he’s still got at least two months to get his title defense in, yet the WBC took the title away from Ward anyway. Why would they do this? To get a sanctioning fee for the Dirrell-Sjekloca bout? That’s what some boxing fans are saying.
Dirrell will no doubt take care of the little known Sjekloca without any problems, but that still doesn’t help Ward. He would then have to face Dirrell, if he can get the fight with him, and fight him for his own title.
It’s strange that the WBC would do this to Ward while allow champions like WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. avoid his mandatory defense against Sergio Martinez. It doesn’t seem right that Ward has to lose his title and Chavez Jr. doesn’t.
how can you call him media propaganda when he beat almost every top s.mw in the world? he takes some time off to heal an injury and you act like hes ducking ppl and is all hype.
Who knows.
This is a guy who thinks Bradley beating Abregu is a good win and Martinez beating Barker is a good win.
But Andre Ward, who just won the Super-Six tournament is media propaganda.
:dunce:
Mathed is on crack and he's mad because deep down he knows his boy Bradley is gonna get whooped and his career will never be as good as Ward's.
Fuk that Belt, but Chavez, and Canelo can do what every they want and the WBC will even go as far as making excuses for them, like they have done for Chavez Jr when it comes talk about fighting Martinez
then again I don't have a problem with it because Anthony Dirrell will get a shot at the belt, I think Dirrell vs Ward would have been TOO SOON, Dirrell haven't even fought anybody, it woud be extremely hypocritical if Ward tells Bute to fight somebody good before you get your shot and then he turns around and fight Dirrell who haven't fought anybody either and who's Resume is worst then Bute at the moment (not disrespect to Dirrell because I am a huge fan of the Dirrell Brothers)
Fuk The WBC!
you dont sign contracts to fight when you have a broken hand waiting to heal, thats just common sense. with those type of injuries recovery time varies alot and i think ward never broke his hand before which makes it even harder for him to know when he will be ready again.
you wait, heal, get back to full training then you decide when your next fight will be. who signs a contract when they cant even throw a punch?
ward never said he wouldnt fight them, he just said he wasnt gonna fight them at that point in time. besides even if he wasnt injured ward earned the right to have some down time after the super six, hes been super busy and fighting nothing but top notch guys. he aint off to fight some bum hes recovering from an injury so cut him some slack.

There are 2 sets of standards 1 for privledged and 1 for those who aren't mexican if you don't like then fight for another organazation... do they pay more than the other belt sponsers???
This ^ The other day, I believe on the 12, he talked about vacating and stated "Anthony Dirrel is like a brother", that it would be a good fight, but not one he wants to do.
Shrug. No Andre, No Anthony, and according to him, no Bhop as well. He's limiting himself.
It's actually hopkins who said he would never fight ward ....
Hopkins, meanwhile, told ******.com in December that he will never fight Ward, considering himself to be a mentor to the 2004 Olympic gold medalist.
"I would never fight Andre Ward. I would never fight him because, one of my favorite shows was Kung Fu. And, the master never fought the student, and the student understood that he would never challenge the master," said Hopkins.

I wanna see Ward take on Andre though. I was really looking forward to that one in the tourney. too bad it probably won't happen.
Serisouly, there's no reason to strip this guy. 4 months of inactivity, that's it?? Let him heal up correctly and get to it. I know it's been stated a lot on this site but WBC IS A JOKE!
Dirrell faked injury to hide from boxing for a year and a half, Ward declined to fight Bute and to fight Dirrell......those guys are just stellar......products of media propaganda. :boxing:

Martinez the future at 37? :lol1:
And Bradley is not as talented as Ward and Dirrell.
Doesn't matter, the WBC probably didn't even ask him if he was still injured, they just decided that they were gonna strip him anyway.

This is called "pulling a Martinez". WBC strips the legit champ yet again.
How can anyone claim to be a champion at 168 when Ward won the Super Six and beat the best out there. Only Bute has a minor claim but against inferior opposition. Dirrell never fought anyone good either, how did he become no 1???
This organization is a total joke.

I'm not disagreeing, I think it's B.S because they strip whoever they want. I just heard that he said his hand was fine even though they just felt like stripping him. Was wondering if there was a link or if it was on his twitter or something.
Why is everybody saying he has been inactive? Ward has fought just as much as they other top 168 pounders over the last 2 years and he had 2 legit injuries with the cut and broke hand. The WBC is just screwing Ward over period. He just won the damn belt 4 months ago in which he broke his hand and he gets striped. This makes no sense to me.
Ward and Dirrell......America's future...told ya'll what was up...Bradley, Martinez and Guerrero...there's the future.

Can somebody direct me to where he says his hand is fine/not bothering him?

He still had 2 months to fight him before he was suppose to get stripped
