Was he fresher than the version Pac fought? Absolutely. But he was by no means in his prime when they fought. These damn kids need to watch more boxing before just saying things!
With all elements equal (weights, age, money) Oscar should win because he has the physical attributes to beat Floyd because he's also abit stronger. However Floyd is mentally stronger and he showed it in their passed bout. I think Oscar had his number but backed off and didn't stay focussed. Oscar is a front runner and when he needs to come forward to win he seems to hold back. The way to beat Floyd is to beat him up, simple to say that but no one has done it yet. If you can force Mayweather to fight you have a better chance to win then chasing him around but you may be surprised to see him land and hurt people. He's a small WW but their all small so theres no problems. No ones a big puncher either so theres not much respect out there either.
The Cotto fight is ALL about Cotto, how much he's improved and if he's slipped back some. He's not supposed to win but if he can be competitive and make a good fight he should be rewarded for it. I'll pass on watching it, HBO will show it in a few days for nothing anyways. If I knew Floyd was coming to control the fight in the center of the ring I'd pay for it but watching a counter puncher just isn't an exciting bout. Ray
Because that's how they justify Floyd being number 1. When ODLH was in his prime Mayweather wasn't anywhere near his radar. But the fight was mostly to Oscar's advantage so it was an ok win for Mayweather, but you can't say he beat the best De La Hoya. Floyd didn't really do much in that fight except block. Compare faces after the fight, Floyd has swollen eye and Oscar looks clean as a baby. Yet Floyd wins.
This right here means:
1. You are a troll
2. You are an idiot
3. All of the above

you really can't determine the winner based on a person's face. Some people bruise or cut easier. So this is not always the case.
For example: when Ricky Hatton beat Juan Lazcano (by wide margins) following his Floyd loss.... he won the fight, but his face looked like this:

To comment on the topic. I haven't heard anyone say or think that Oscar was prime in this fight. Just a way for someone to attempt to hate on floyd fans and/or downplay the victory. It was a solid win for floyd, but a BORING fight as others have mentioned. - This coming from a floyd fan.
Floyd Sr had a scorecard for that fight?
Where? In the land where jabs don't count and all the haters spending hours of their day talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr doesn't make him more famous or get him more PPV buys because D4th, hugh_grant and spoon23 said so.
floyds 34 right? and oscar was 34 at the time, 154 suited him, why the hell did he go to 147 when he was the one calling the shots?
cocaine is a hell of a drug
Look at his body ! Oscar could not make 147 at that point , look at him against Forbes at 150 he was drained and look at him against Manny sucked out like a waif .
Not that ODLH was prime just that he WAS game, WAS a champion and DID have all the advantages in the fight (ring, gloves, and weight). It's no Floyd's best win, heck not even top 5 but it is a solid one on his resume.
It is one of Floyds best wins simply because of the weight difference on fight night and that ODH was as strong as he could be , not weight drained , Floyd gave him over 16 pounds and if you take into account Floyd was carrying excess weight the advantage ODH had multiplys , I doubt very much Manny could have beaten Oscar that night and would think Oscar would have have stopped Manny just because he would have been too big and strong , and not only big but a very good boxer as well , I think people blow of weight way to lightly .
i dont know if i quite qualify for a "floyd fan" here in nsb.
some of the dudes here would suck floyd's cuck if asked.
but i think he beats a prime oscar.
the best fight would be at 135, or 140, even if both guys didnt fight long at 140.
oscar was a bigger puncher at those weights. at 147 i think floyd would be in less danger of getting sparked out, but at 135 or 140 oscar could flick the rights out on him.
No one thinks that.
But the fact remains that was a solid win for Floyd at the time. He went up to 154 lbs to fight Oscar, where Oscar was a Top 5 SWW, and was the only really legit fight there against a title holder, aside from Cory Spinks for christ take.
People were calling for Mayweather-De La Hoya to happen. Floyd had been chasing that fight to go down.
And Floyd almost got robbed.
Mayweather Snr had Oscar winning by two
Because his intelligence and style in the ring would always give him advantages over Oscar. It would be closer, but I'd pick Floyd to win that fight prime for prime.
how many "big" fights has floyd won?
i haven't watched much of a prime oscar, half of whitaker fight, mosley fight and a bit of chavez fight, but if oscar has more stamina than he showed when he fought floyd i'd favour him to win
what i find funny is the negligence towards bodyshots, "oh floyd is blocking those shots with his ribcage, not doin any damage at all"
Why would I make it up? I just looked on another thread to find someone else saying it..unlike most people here I don't really pick sides in the pac/floyd nonsense. I'm just someone who enjoys good fights past and present..I'm not a "*****" nor a "*******" like some of you like to call people..I just post what I see..and I have seen multiple people saying floyd beat a PRIME de la hoya..so my simple question was why they may think that? Because there is no way that was a prime DLH..but I agree it was still a credible win for Floyd..not taking anything away from him..just curious to see peoples argument for why they call him prime in that fight?
