April 24, 2012: It gives great pleasure to World Boxing Council President, Jose Sulaiman to inform that the WBC Middleweight world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has signed his commitment to defend his title against Sergio Martinez
DIURETIC MAN SIGNED..
PLEASE MAKE THE TEST DRUGS. :boxing:
really lol the cotto who went 12 rounds with the tough and rough paulie? lmao
lol when has malignaggi been stopped early though? dude has a chin and has more skills than fighters he lost to.
i thought there is a demand by boy wonder to have blood/more extensive testing for his fight with chavez jr... and jr doesn't want to do the test... so what is the update on this?..
every fight jr is gettin better the time clock is tickin martinez aint gettin any younger :boxing:
either way chavez jr and my boy money would BOTH give martinez a L
Only if Martinez allowed it...Floyd may lose to Cotto and Chavez to Lee
I can see it happening. Regardless of Martinez draw ability, Mayweather mentioned he wanted to come back from retirement to gain the Middleweight title. If Martinez happens to be the man he has to beat, then he will fight Martinez (and win). Can't remember exactly when it was said, but he said that winning the Middleweight crown would put him ahead of SSR in terms of Legacy.
Floyd fighting for legacy over money? Come on man, get real.
Nah Martinez not a big enough draw. He would be one if he beat Chavez Jr.
Arum and HBO did a great job.

I also believe Mayweather beats Martinez.
JR has definitely shown progress, I'll give you that, but regardless of how meaningless belts are today, he still isn't worthy enough to carry one. Now, if he beats Lee and Martinez the tune will change for me, for sure. It's just at this point in time I don't consider him an elite fighter. Like I said though, things change.
Dan Rafael Tweeted this:
"Chavez can't sign a binding agreement to fight Martinez no matter what wretched WBC says unless manager & promoter also sign. They havent."
I hope Bob signs on soon or its going to make him look VERY bad for holding this fight up longer.
I'm sure it's not a binding agreement, probably a document that says he has to fight Martinez next or be stripped, but he still has the choice to vacate and fight whoever he wants.
I think Jr. will vacate opening the door for a Martinez - Mayweather fight for the WBC Middleweight title. I can honestly say this is what I believe will happen.

It's funny to read here how the casual boxing fans have been so easily duped into the Chavez Jr illusion and actually think he can box and even win against an A fighter even though he has never fought anything other than B & C fighters.
Arum and HBO did a great job.
Yeap. With JCCJ's defense or lack of, Martinez will turn JCCJ's face to the consistency of roast beef sandwich or Chicken burritos if Martinez wants to. But a simple repeat of P Will do. Please watch that KO again. Martinez was anticipating P Will's move for WEEKS. Mofo just walk away when that punch landed.
Yeah he did. He knew it was over!
Right, I think Sergio knows he has to pour it on early. His last few fights have ended with late stoppages, and this one could go the same way but Martinez has to do damage from the first bell. If he can't stop JR in his tracks to slow down the pressure it'll be a long one for Martinez.
Can't wait.
I've seen Martinez turn it on when he has to, plus he really has a dislike or Chavez jr....it's going to be an awesome fight if it happens.
Martinez can fight with his hands up if he wants to. He did so very well in the first Williams fight. Just because he gets tagged a few times, I don't think it bothers him. I'm sure he won't do that against Chavez unless he sees that he can lure him in and maintain the distance to counter him.
If he can jab step back and counter chavez as he comes in with the left, he will do well. The only thing I'm worried about is a ripoff on the cards but I think Martinez is going to try and kill Chavez. He is going to close the show....he knows what will happen otherwise.

But I agree with those who say Martinez will need a KO to win...because even though Jr couldn't even win a single round...they will rob Martinez in favour of the cash cow that has been created out of Chavez's name that he inherited from his father...this is assuming that this fight even happens which would be ludicrous for Jr to even think about trying. In all likelihood JR will hurt his hand on a fan or something and have to bow-out.

Martinez knew this when he fought P Williams the 2nd time around. He will take care of business and beat the Chavez out of JCCJ.
My thoughts exactly....:boxing:
The better question is, have they ever have done a 24/7 for two fighters that don't speak English? I'd be suprised if they'd do a 24/7 for this fight.
They did a countdown for Barrera vs Marquez :
