Do you think Floyd is smart enough to beat Cotto without a word being said by Roger, Ellerbe or anyone else in his corner in-between rounds?
Any fighters you think could?
Floyd would be screwed without "We'll get this motherf*cka down the stretch"
lol thats all he ever says "keep walking that muthaafuka down, you know well get him down the strecth|
what advice do they actually give.........."keep kicking his ass"????lol
LMAO, I was thinking the same kind of thing: "Floyd, beat that muthaphukka's ass"
you mean if Floyd can win without "keep doing whatchu doin." and "boxin. get back to boxin. that's what we do."? yea, i'm sure he can win without those "advice".
Of course he could. He has been fighting since he was a baby. He is one of the smartest boxers in history. Has Ellerbe ever boxed? I don't know. Roger was a pretty good champ and he taught Floyd well but I don't think Floyd needs him today. I am sure it helps Floyd out some to have Roger in his corner maybe spotting something Floyd missed because Floyd is busy fighting. I still think Floyd would do OK without any advice.
go to the 5:20 mark and you can hear Roger tell him to go to the body. He saw Floyd tag him with a body shot just a few seconds earlier and Chop bent ever so slightly. Floyd went into an immediate defensive posture so he didnt see Chop's reaction. Roger saw it and told Floyd to go right back wit it. That was a grueling fight too. You need that advice sometimes
what was floyd saying at 7:10?

"Just box that mutha fuc*er"

Floyd is the smartest fighter in the game but Roger is very underrated as a trainer and people are foolish if they think Floyd doesnt listen and just does everything by feel. Roger sets the game plan for every fight. He does that.
Then you can still hear Roger telling him things in the fight. He tells him in the corner against Zab when he was down 3 rounds to 1, "dont worry about that just stay with the game plan and keep walking his ass down. Keep that pressure on his ass".
I remember in the Chop Chop fight it was kinda like the 8th round. Floyd & Chop were kinda leaning on each other, fighting in the pocket. Roger starts yelling over top everyone. You could hear him over the HBO crews. Tell Floyd to go to the body. As soon as he said it Floyd threw a body shot and it stopped Chop in his tracks. It folded him and you could tell he was hurt. As soon as it landed, Roger said "thats it". Floyd threw another one and Chop covered up. Then Floyd landed like a 5 punch combo that sent Chop flailing backwards.
There was also another time. I think it was either the same fight with Chop or it was the Hatton fight or something when Roger in the corner kept telling Floyd that he needed to go to the body more. Floyd responded like he cant because the dude is covering up. Roger is like "its there, Im telling you". Sure enough he goes out and hurts the dude to the body. Roger knows his **** and Floyd respects his trainer. Floyd knows it all but he also knows that a trainer has its purpose and you have to let them do what they do
