Lately, I've been reading a lot of articles about Cotto's preparation and progress, his training and his work with Diaz.
But, aside from the 24\7 episode#1 and this profile feature coming up in late April, not much from the Mayweather camp. No trash-talking, no loud noises, no father\son fights .... nothing but an eerie silence and rumors of the work being put in at the gym by Floyd.
Highly unusual!!!!!
If I were to gauge this unusual behavior from an outsider's speculative standpoint -- I would say that Floyd for the first time in years, has pretty much locked himself away and is focused solely on putting on a performance like none before.
As I think back, this was the fight Floyd's wanted for years, and when he fought Brussless who made every attempt to mimic Cotto's style -- And while Cotto was in attendance, Floyd put on a teasing performance, making easy work of the Cotto clone.
What I've seen from the released video is a totally Committed Mayweather, but committed to what???
A stellar performance or to drive home something he's wanted to drive home for years ....
That even though Cotto is one of the very best in the sport and many have felt that he was avoided by Mayweather. {Losing sight of the Arum factor} Floyd is going to show once and for all, that he never had any reason to avoid Cotto, that he knows how to beat Cotto at his best weight, with his best trainer and make it look easy ......
Sure, I believe Cotto's got a shot, I would be foolish to think otherwise -- But I think we are going to see a completely possessed and obsessed Mayweather on May 5th, that will leave no doubt, who is the best boxer in the world. This, I feel is going to be Floyd's signature fight and a clear statement ... that he is the very best.
This is going to be a "MUST SEE" fight and I am sooo freakin excited .... !!!!!
:beerchug:
It seems that his camp is all business but then again it is not like his camps are ever easy, ever. I think he wants to make a big splash with this fight which I feel is big trouble for Cotto.
yeah, fully agree. can't see floyd woulda amounted to anything much if it wasn't for good ol' Bob Arum...:omfg:
of course he would have but there's no reason they can't do buissness now other the gayweathers a childish hoe.
Look at this raggedy.....fa.ggetty....bi.tch calling somebody a hoe.
Even Arum has nutthuggers...
Mayweather didn't make arum a bad guy......he is...
VisionQuest told Manny that:
1..He didn't even get paid for the Cotto fight
2..Is worth only 26 million(at the time of the investigation)
3..Top Rank lovingly kept his financial records IN A BROWN PAPER BAG
4..LOL
Floyd didn't make that up....sissy...Arum is killing Pacman...and he knows it..
The thing is...He can't leave because Bob has too much on him.
Floyd left Arum and made more than even he imagined...So did Oscar...too bad The Pinoy Puppet is too dumb and dirty to leave....he's too dim-witted to think for himself.
You know less then **** about anyone's finances. Your a gayweather groupie and you probably want to beat me up cuz i don't like mayweather. you're a clown. i wouldn't waste 2 seconds arguing with you. get off gayweathers **** and be a man for a change. no nut sucking groupie deserves respect in life.
Looks like Floyd just wants to get the job done. I wonder if he's really interested in this fight (aside from the publicity and money he'll make). Anyone think that maybe he's not too motivated by Cotto hence him upselling Cotto as an "undefeated" fighter to try to get himself up for it? We've seen Floyd's ish talking antics when he seemed threatened..like with Shane. Cotto he's just been real chill and quiet about. It's a nice change but weird..maybe he really does like Cotto, but I can't help but wonder what's up. Many have been questioning his desire for a while now and have said Floyd sees this as more of a job than a passion. We'll see...
Good thread. I've also noticed it but I believe it may have to do more with Mayweather having to work a bit harder and focus a bit more because he's getting older and he knows it. His reflexes didn't look as sharp in the Ortiz fight if you look closely, and he hasn't really been moving too much his last few fights. His legs probably aren't what they once were. It's normal and it happens. Floyd, however, is such a gifted fighter that he has transformed his style and seems more prepared than ever to bang away up close if need be to save his legs and stamina.
Great fight and Cotto at 154 is no joke and seems like he's at a great place in his own mind after he redeemed himself against Margacheeto, and Cotto seems to have found a great trainer to bring out the best in him. Let's remember, Floyd didn't look his best at 154 against Oscar so who knows...
but with that said, I see a late stoppage with Floyd leaving the ring undefeated still. Cotto is not quick enough...
I can't believe how little has come out of Mayweather's camp thus far. No interviews from sparring partners, no insider reports, no nothing. Every time Pacquiao goes for a run its a headline here. News out of Floyd's camps have never been as plentiful as that, but never this quiet either.

:rofl1:
and Cotto made easy work of the "Mayweather Clone" Paulie Malignaggi, by breaking his Jaw and Eye Socket..
Dude the arum factor is something Mayweather created in his own delusional childish head. Arum helped make him what he is today. he got him hs first title shot and million dollars. Floyd is a hoe

Strange silence, indeed. I remember when Mosley was having problems with his sparring session in prep for his fight against Mayweather. Roger was all over the news making fun of his nephew's opponent.

I think Floyd works as hard as he possibly can for every fight and camp. Say what you want about him but from all reports the guy is one of the hardest workers in the sport. I dont think the silence means anything other than Floyd is getting a little older and Cotto doesnt give him much reason to talk ****.
I agree. Its very interesting and its going to be an up hill battle for each of them.
I expect them to be on beast mode and at thier best.
One thing is that "yo voy al mio!".
War Miguel!
