They made it sound like Mayweather beat the crap out of Ortiz like Ortiz was done by the 4th round talking about a swelling eye. Mayweather then comes on claiming Victor's 'eyes' were closing over and that he saw blood and finished him off. What a misrepresentation.
The truth of course was that the 4th round was actually Ortiz's best round and rather than him looking tired he still was looking fresh and strong and coming more into the fight. It took a false embrace by FMJ followed by a cheap shot to stop him. Victor wasn't beaten legitimately, Cortez set him up and shame on HBO for backing that Mayweather lie.
Also they better send Larry to do the interviews post-Cotto, they already ruined the face-off with their soft touch, beta grovelling questions from Kellerman.
My question is & always will be would the fight have ended the way it did had it not been for the blatant headbutt? My answer is no effin way. I'm not a fan of Floyd outside the ring, but when he is in there he is a professional. Every time Floyd has had his bell rung he doesn't resort to dirty boxing (headbutts, low blows, etc..) to even the score. After Mosley clocked him what did he do? He recovered & then took over what was left of the round. People complain about his elbows, but I think it has a lot to do with the way he uses his defense. He's not in there throwing blatant spinning back elbows out of frustration.
I like Ortiz & was really hoping for a good fight like everyone else I'm sure. I didn't like the way it ended, but I also don't blame Floyd. Ortiz just seem like he gets taken out of his game to easily when things don't go his way & the outcome is never good. BTW, $2.5 million for a showing like that might put a smile on my face too. Just my two cents.
Oh & before I forget, Ortiz was getting his ass whipped period. He tried, failed & couldn't handle being beat like that.

i like both fighters and while floyd was winning he was also getting hit, and ortiz did better in those 4 rounds then marquez and mosley(aside from him stunning floyd) did put together, he was getting leather on floyd's face and has power to change a fight, i doubt it would have happened but definitely could have been a good fight if it continued, i also have no problem with the way it ended
smh.................
The ending of that fight was really, really wack.
But yes I think Floyd was definitely going to KO Ortiz regardless. I just wish I could have gotten my money's worth, these PPV's are too expensive. But I can't get enough of the big fights.
HBO failed to mention how Ortiz was 4-5 clean punches away from a TKO stoppage.
Also that floyd was using his elbow a few dozen times.
And how he had the head over the top rope running for his life which is in violation of the rules.
And also how Cortez never said "Time In" and floyd hit him twice which is not only in violation of the rules but floyd should've lost by DQ
:haha:
fans like you make me miss that crazy margartio fan viva mexico

fair comments pturtles, good to see there is still some objectivity left on these forums
I thought he was taking the 4th until the headbutt but regardless it is annoying that HBO are pandering to Mayweather like that. The editing and scriptwriting of that part may as well have been written by one of the braindead flomos on here.
Ortiz was nowhere near being broke down or stopped, Mayweather took a cheap shot and HBO should acknowledge the negative publiciy and controversy it caused instead of painting that Mayweather put on an all-conquering performance stopping his spent opponent in the 4th - it wasn't like that.
Ortiz from every angle, compubox stat, fan polling says that Mayweather won. lol. HBO laid it out as it was.
Unfortunatly, in your case, when reality is not enough, lies will suffice. smh.

when did you become such a terrible poster? you were always ignorant and biased but this is just delusional.
cortez "set him up"? cortez did nothing wrong in this fight. he said time in and told them to fight, if they choose not to protect themselves at that point how is that his fault? if cortez made a mistake it was not penalizing ortiz earlier for using his head which he was doing all night.
and if ortiz was really "coming into the fight" why did he blatantly headbutt mayweather? doesnt sound like something a fighter would do if hes having his best round.
the real unbiased truth is mayweather was picking him apart from round one. he was making ortiz miss and nailing him with hard counters, slowly breaking him down. in the 4th ortiz realized he was headed for a KO loss down the stretch and went all out, with no result whatsoever. floyd was still making him miss with ease and ortiz panicked, he couldnt handle the way was being controled and he snapped.
he knew what he was in for, he was looking for a way out and floyd gave him one. it was nothing cheap about it, its a fight not a tickling contest as your man crush once said. he already apologized twice before, maybe next time someone gets hurt they should just keep apologizing and hugging until they recover. their oponent better wait until they are good and ready to fight again or else its a "cheap shot". im sure that makes sense in that biased, twisted world of yours, as long as its pro hatton and anti floyd ofcourse.
Ortiz is one of the stupidest boxers I've ever seen. That headbutt followed by tons of apologies was idiotic. Mayweather answered in the same thuggish fashion, but he did it legally.
People are still mad over the headbutt?
Everyone is over that *****, i personally didn't really care,
my reaction : "hah, he headbutted"
My reaction: "lol"
final conclusion:"meh it's over, could've been better, what's next on HBO"
Some of you guys take this ***** too serious, even Mayweather/Ortiz are over it,
move on and stop catching feelings,

This thread isn't about Joe Cortez's shameful refereeing of Hatton-Mayweather, it's about HBO's re-writing of Mayweather-Ortiz.
Thank you.
No thanks.
You made this thread.
Deal with the way the dog walks you. For shame, Weebs.
Oh yeah, Ortiz got served a two piece for hugging Mayweather one too many times.
And you're still mad.
