I never watched the fight and i need to see it but it was clearly a robbery from all the writing about it. But from what I am heard is he fought a very ugly style, can anyone confirm this?
Guys like Molina, Abril etc. should definately not be rewarded for taking the entertainment from boxing, and if they get wins cause of this everyone will do it and make fights that should be exciting boring. This is boxing, its supposed to be a battle, a war.....using your fists. I really hope we dont see much of these ugly horrible ***** styles in the future cause it is killing boxing worse than the bad decisions
Fights like those are painful to watch. People who are neither fans of both would rather see one fighter KO'ing the other. Or at least see the effort displayed on the screen. Rios seemed to be the only one who have that goal in mind, but with little success, unfortunately. Abril didn't seize the opportunity and his goal seemed to be just to coast along and last the distance, then feel proud about it. Real fighters don't waste time and aren't content with letting the decision handed over to the judges. They're not even content just winning in the scorecards.

i told yall what my dog can do
Oh, and I took note. Now we all have a much better idea of Abril's abiity. I'm proud of the kid. Richard worked like a true craftsman against a caveman. Too bad the animals that run the circus we call boxing are ruining his career.
what did the HBO team have to say?
i watched it on a top rank feed. brian kenny, raul marquez, and somebody else. they did a fine job.
i was basically asleep by the end of teh marquez fight, but it had nothing to do with them, it was just a dull fight and it's been a long week.
F**k Brian Kenny though. To be fair, the guy never gives Floyd a fair shake in an interview, and I had NO IDEA he was an announcer for Top Rank. When Floyd fought Judah in Early 2006, he implied that Floyd should be fighting Baldomir and that he was unwilling to fight Ricky Hatton. Than, when he fought Baldomir, he criticized that and asked Floyd if he would finally step up and fight Hatton since Ricky beat Luis Collazo for a title at WW.
The guy just never gives him a fair shake in an interview, at least that's how it seems, and it could have something to do with Kenny being a Top Rank announcer, don't know????

Though Abril won on points on my view, I can't stand his constant holding (the ref should have done better, deducting points would have made the fight better). So I won't complain with his loss.
This^^^^^
I'm a big Rios fan, and yes....Abril held a lot. But he didn't do it nearly as bad or as much as Carlos Molina did.
Abril would stand in front of Rios and hit with a jab/straight right all night long, and Rios would rush in. Abril would stand there and give Rios a shoulder, and just held his right hand up by his face all night, and Rios hit leather all night long. The problem I had with Abril was the constant holding of Rios' arms, that was bulls**t, but again.....not nearly as bad as Molina.
Molina would hit and than hold on to Kirkland, and than hit again. Than, he'd push Kirkland to the ropes while holding his arm, and than hit him again, and hold again. Than, he'd let go and push Kirkland, take a quick step back and hit him, and than went back to holding.
And Rios won 1 round, aybe 2 at the most of those 12. At least Kirkland won 3 of those 10 rounds and was on verge of stopping Molina in the 10th had it not been for Molina holding 16 times that round and grabbing onto the ropes while laying on Kirkland when he was hurt.....and not to metion Kirkland's shoulder was completely busted going in.
Green on the way. :fing02:
Lol. Abril would stand infront of him, throw up the shell and let Rios try to hit him. He didn't just hit and hold. When there was no holding it was him beating on Rios. He beat the hell out of Rios. Rios could do nothing it was embarassing. Of course you wouldn't know this because you didn't watch it and like robberies. -redneck voice- Git! We dont want your kiiinnddd round here!

Things like this make me sad, it is why Bob Arum can pull these shams and get away with it. People aren't concerned about watching a boxing match, they're concerned with watching rock em sock em where someone gets knocked the F out.
i have a hard time believing TS is a professional boxer when he's glad that a fighter is robbed. what an ignorant piece of sh;t lol.
not professional, only amateur and i only do it for fun man not like im going to do it forever just having fun going in there and going to war
I didn't hear ONE person complain about the way Abril was fighting during the fight in the RBR and discussion thread. Except one or two nuthuggers. We were all enjoying the beating Rios was taking and how he was being taken to school cause his boxing IQ sucks too much to adjust.
everyoen in here is ****ing but hurt bunch of cry babies, talking **** saying i dont know boxing etc. **** that i just like a good fight, and the reason i didnt watch was cause i had a fight myself, but half of you cry babies would prob ever be to scared to step in the ring
oh, you're an amateur fighter, you want a cookie? just cause you get in the ring doesn't mean you know the sport. not saying you don't, well kind of judging by this stupid ass thread you just made. congrats on being an am, good luck in your fights, but honestly watch the fight before opening your mouth. and don't be mad at abril for having a perfect gameplan, even if wasn't the most entertaining way he could have fought. you should be upset with the overrated rios, if he's incapable of learning how to jab, move his head, and make adjustments, that's really no one's fault besides his own. like i said in another thread, if all you want to see are people recklessly swinging at each other, go youtube some street/bum fights.
Not only couldn't he do anything, he wasn't even trying to do anything for significant portions of the fight! Abril literally spanked "Bam Bam." Frankly, I almost can't believe what I saw.
i told yall what my dog can do
Seem a lot of fans of the slow, plodders, one dimensional fighters like Maidanas, Margaritos are the ones that are "Glad" that another boxer got robbed, Seems you have to stand in front of this fighters with your hands down by your side to be considered a boxer....Shame
Funny and true. :lol1:

Been there done that boy.
Only holding Abril did was of Rios' left arm (I believe) and would leave his right free cause he had that shoulder stuck on his face and Abril being as tall as he was Rios couldn't reach him. Only time he REALLY CLINCHED was when Rios tried to smother him on the ropes. Because what he did in the middle of the ring was pick his shots off EASILY and stick Rrios with the SHELL.
Don't be mad cause your fighter is 1 dimensional and can't fight anyone but other brawlers since boxers SCHOOL him. I feel sorry for you in that ring, you got a lot to learn.
