Poll coming soon.
I think this is one helluva a fight in the making folks. A very fan friendly afair, and a test for BamBam at 140(He needs to move up 135 is the past for him, he's out grown the division). Two come forward fighters with more heart and determination than the law allows. I think this is a wonderful fight for HBO BAD, and we need to see this fight THIS summer June or July(you know they are both up for a quick turn around).
So give me ya'lls thoughts on this fight, and vote for who you think wins it in the poll. :fing02:
I think Alvarado has as much heart. He took a good beating against Prescott before going on to stop him. So I would say that he wouldn't give up.
I think Rios might have the more heavier hands. But Alvarado has a great engine and is more skilled. Alvarado is huge. One of the biggest LWW's. He comes in close to 160 on fight night. So no size advantage for Rios.
I think I'll go with Alvarado
Oh I think they are neck and neck in the heart department. And the scrap with Prescott was a wonderful fight indeed. I lean torwards Mile High Mike, but just cant count BamBam out as I havent seen him train and come in for a JWW bout. I have more questions about BamBam than I do about Mike, since IDK if 140 is even the right division for him. Will his pop transcend weight classes? :dunno:
Alvarados face cuts and swollens way to easy to go through amount of punches he'd have to go through to win this fight. I think it's stopped on cuts in mid-late, I'd say 8-9.
I do think that Avarado is a better all around fighter than Rios, but IJDK, I think Rios' has the heart to make up for having less skills than Mile-High Mike.

I think Rios-Alvarado is the fight to make, Marquez can fight the winner it will mean much more. I live near D-town (Denver) and a few years ago I use to hear a lot of stories about Alvarado not taking boxing serious and getting drunk and getting into street brawls (dudes been locked up a few times). Now I hear he's pretty dedicated and taking it serious and it really shows. A few years ago Mike was in line to fight Paulie Malinaggi for a belt at 140 when Paulie still mattered, but unfortunately he got locked up and it was a pretty big setback. Hope to see him get a big shot soon, I've got him beating Rios in a thriller.

But Castillo and Coralles actually could BOX, not just brawl. Their level of infight is from another planet compared to Alvarado and Rios.
Just talking about the violence.
But Alvarado looks like an okay inside fighter last night. While Rios looked very limited which isn't the norm for him.
His inside game looked good vs Antillon.
Maybe its the style and the weight.
Pure violence of epic proportions.
Like Castillo-Corrales type carnage.

I agree. I belive that he would fight through it, but will the ringside doc let the battle continue on? I think it would be a big factor in how the fight plays out, because its gonna cut alot more easier since Prescott banged it open. And Brandon's stamina is very good as well. Im not lookin at his last two fights to judge it though, bein that he's too big for the division and cant even make the weight anymore. I think how lethargic he looked in rds 9-12 last night was due to the severe draining he put himself through to try and get to 135.
But something thats interesting is that at 137 he looked like a shell of a man. I wouldnt be mad if he skipped 140 altogether and started champaigning WW.
He got hit with a lot leather vs Herrera and looked okay.
Herrera really busted up Prov if I remember correctly.
Perhaps he'll be okay.
Even if it doesn't he'll fight through it.
I think Alvarado's endurance is second to none.
He looks the same in the first round than he does in the 10th.
I think he makes weight easily because of his wrestling background. They have to make weight at any cost.

Will Mike's lip hold up against Brandon's clubbing looping left hook?
Even if it doesn't he'll fight through it.

It would be a brawl no doubt, not much of the sweet science involved.
Alvarado is the bigger guy I think, so I favor him being that neither guy is a huge puncher.

This is what I envision when I play this fight out in my mind. :fing02: This fight needs to be made pronto!
