I mean...it's crystal fcuking clear that Rios can't make 135 despite all the nutritionist bull*****.
Gamboa-Rios was great in theory, they were just reallyyyyy reaching for it, at no point did it make much sense. I think it's for the better that it didn't go down and I always have. This just makes it clear.
absofockinlutely I'm still pissed
from a free HBO showdown to a ppv against a no name
Rios can't make 135lbs....if he was fighting Gamboa it wouldn't have changed anything.
So either the fight would be cancelled or a Rios at a significant disadvantage would be getting into the ring. Either way, it was a blessing in disguise.
Not only that but if you didn't see it they are blaming Gamboa for Rios not making weight. Because since he wasn't fighting Gamboa he wasn't motivated enough to train.
Gamboa's lawyer mentioned that his contract was expired with TR. Now I have more reason to believe this is the case and Top Rank knowing so, set this whole thing up with the press conference and Abril to smear Gamboa's image to make him look like the coward. But the whole thing is in the process of backfiring and Rios in danger of losing his 0 and the bout vs JMM.
This is truly what I believe is the case.
Exactly. The "replacement" opponent just happened to be at the press conference? GTFO. How anyone doesn't see this, is just beyond me.
Instead of Arum being a respectable professional and parting ways with the guy (that he wanted to extend a BS contract with) , he goes and runs a smear campaign on him to try and prevent the next guy who promotes Gamboa from being able to market the guy.
Gamboa should sue for slander, seeing as how this was an obvious attempt by a bitter old man to destroy a man's reputation and marketability, thus resulting in financial loss.
I never wanted that fight in the first place and never understood why people wanted to see Gamboa face a drained Rios, it was one of those fights Gamboa was suppose to win. I don't believe Gamboa is good enough to beat a healthy Rios, it takes a very special fighter to beat a fighter of Rios' level PLUS the weight disadvantage Gamboa would have been in, and Gamboa to me ain't a good enough fighter to deal with that. Another thing, I'm not even certain Rios is gonna beat Abril, I like Brandon, really do, but he shouldn't be messing with his health like this. I'm surprised Garcia or anyone didn't stop him. How could they have failed to see that the man was no longer a LW, the greatest nutritionist couldn't have helped him.
I won't pay to watch Marquez keep his name relevant or for Brandon Rios to scrape by another weight draining fiasco...can anyone hook me up with a link?

I was never angry. Rios needs to move up to 147.
In his second try weighing in, he came in at 139, and still looked weight drained.
What I would have been angry at is Gamboa beating Rios and fans saying the win isn't that good cause Rios was weight drained.
Gamboa needs to move up to 130, Rios is a welterweight as we speak.
Exactly, I've been saying this since the beginning.
With two guys who are in such high regard you don't want weight factoring into a win or a loss.
If Rios walked him down it would be because he's like 2-3 weight classes above Gamboa.
If Gamboa potshotted to a decision it'd be because Rios was a corpse.
I don't want either of these guys to lose like that, they're too important to the future of the sport.

It's obvious that this was all smoke and mirrors by Bob Arum. Bob Arum used Rios/Gamboa to justify in making the show a PPV show. Gamboa was the scapegoat in this whole situation, and had his image tarnished for the sake of Arum being able to sell a P.O.S card to the fans.
Another KO of the fight fans by To Prank Promotions.
