But he's fighting Cotto at 154, that means he can fight Martinez at the same weight, so you can stop making excuses now.Martinez will fight Floyd at 54 but not Kirkland, why do u think that is?
It means he's a true MW who's willing to drain himself to fight a lil guy for the pay, but when it comes to Kirkland he wants to be comfortable at a natural weight.
You people have been duped on this "Small guy fighting big guy" shyt, NATURALLY its not healthy for the fighters.
And id bet my lwft leg that if Floyd beat Serg at 54, the first thing ud scream is DRAINED or OLD. Talk about excuses... LOL
A bump, just to say that I do not want to see Floyd-Martinez anymore. It has been brought to my attention that the fight would be overkill. Floyd-Cotto 2 or Floyd-TBA because Bradley kills the Pacman fight.
with this being said Floyd >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pac easily.
Pacjuiceman refused to fight Sergio at 54 or 50. so hypothetical cant be used here
Agreeing to fight and actually looking good during and after the fight are two different things.
Neither of which apply to Mayweather or Pacquiao at this point since neither have officially agreed to fight Martinez or Chavez.
All I'm saying is that the day Mayweather decides to fight either Martinez or Chavez, Jr and wins he takes charge of the P4P title big time.
There are many fights in the welterweight division that could change things in the next months. Those must past in order to re-evaluate things.
As a boxing fan, it's somewhat exciting to say the least.
Oh, and I'm glad you used that word, because hypothetical outcomes based on recent actual outcomes is really what the P4P title is all about. "Hypothetically, how good would this person fare against other opponents based on current outcomes."
there you go debunking fighters, I can do the same thing with Bradley going based off your logic
Joel Casamayor (shot)
Nate Campbell (shot)
Junior Witter (a good fighter but nothing more, barely survived him)
Edner Cherry (already had lost 5 times)
Kendall Holt (already been stopped by Torres, no chin etc)
Devon Alexander (inexperienced at that time, this version of Devon would do "this, this and that" to Bradley now)
Carlos Abregu (who?)
Lamont Peterson (the only good guy he beat and even Lamont isn't all that Khan just wasn't as good as they say)
see my point? see how I took Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley's incredible undefeated record and reduced it to horse **** using your methods? ANYONE can do that, I can take Muhammed Ali's record and do that but we all know it's not valid
point is that he can sell that fight and make more $$$ off of it than Manny will make against Bradley and guess what? that is a FACTUAL statement, the numbers don't lie. if anything Canelo in his young years has more experience than Bradley does in the pro's having 10+ fights over him and having been involved in a REMATCH already against tough opposition, something Bradley has not done
Bradley is a proven unified champion. LOL at a rematch. So Canelo has a rematch. He's never taken a champions title. Bradley took a title & beat champions son. C'mon. However you seem to really hate on Bradley. I'll bet he's co petitive against Pacman & even gets robbed for his trouble. But like I said Canelo may have 10 + more fights, but bums, shot fighters & lightweights are nothing to brag about.
It would be a typical Mayweather move, and consistent with his reputation for not fighting the biggest threats or seeking the biggest challenges since he moved to 140 after Castillo gave him hell at 135. We can add Martinez at 154 to a list of top fighters he didn't try to fight when he was in the same division as them, Tszyu, Hatton at 140, Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao at 147.
As long as it's not a Calzaghe move (waiting til the end of your career to fight anyone worth a damn) it's all good.
Are his fans going to be satisfied with that. Or are ya'll finally gonna pull his pass card & demand that he man up & fight the legacy fight??
Mayweather will fight him. He notices the flaws like I and a lot of boxing fans see in Sergio. I also think that Sergio is slipping a bit in terms of reflexes and explosiveness. Floyd hasn't seemed to.
At 154, I think it would be a clear non-controversial UD for Mayweather. Duck that straight left, and roll the right hook all night.
Martinez has a date with Chavez for september..Not dirrell or Ward.
^^^^^^ Martinez has said he wants chavez jr first then mayweather and has a pencilled in date this fall with Chavez. I say pencilled in because I expect Arum to try more BS to avoid that fight. Martinez is the mandatory for Chavez's belt and they already got a "optional defense" fight for chavez this summer. Martinez already dropped his OSDT demands so arum wont have further excuses to avoid the fight. Chavez's camp themselves said they want to fight martinez and its arum avoiding the fight. Bottom line Arum thinks chavez will loose to martinez and hurt his future revenue generation in the process.
If martinez chases the mayweather fight for this fall, they will try to throw out his chance at chavez jr. Anyone who thinks arum will ever make Pac-Mayweather after he has already stated directly its not happening this fall but now spring 2013 is his target date, is crazy.
Mayweather canelo is inevitable this fall, theyve been planning it for years and there isnt anyone else to fight unless they could get martinez, but hes not really available although theyre not really pushing for it either. Its a **** fight and nobody wants to see it, they are making mosley the sacrificial lamb so atleast canelo has someone recognizable on his resume to build the mayweather fight. Hopefully mosley can beat him so maybe we can see a better fight from mayweather this fall.
He is already Pound for Pound # 1.....
That's the thing...it's a public opinion thing, the pound for pound top spot, and based mostly on the "what have you done for me lately" factor. This is why things won't get re-evaluated until after the first half of June.
That's why I say if Mayweather beats the guy considered to be "the man" of the middleweight division (in this scenario either Martinez or Chavez if they clash and chavez wins) then he is doing something Pacquiao is not willing to do, for whatever reasons. Getting a win like that would do much for cementing the P4P top spot without much doubt.
Although I know that some folks will always dog Mayweather, if he goes this route it's an awful hard argument to make for him at that point.
For me, right now it stands the same...Pacquiao #1 and Mayweather #1.5. Neither did anything extraordinary in their last fights. I feel if Mayweather would have won without that ending his win would have been stronger than manny's. And manny's win is disputable as well. It wasn't conclusive either. I say that because I don't feel a ko like mayweather's was conclusive. It was fight ending, but not a good closure to the fight.
Now, let's put the shoe on the other foot. If pacquiao was to meet up with Martinez at 154 and beat him, wouldn't folks be allowed to dog Mayweather for not having done that when he was already fighting in that general weight?
I know it's not likely, but it puts the fight against Martinez in perspective, right? First one there to win gets mad bragging rights, which, when it's said and done, what the P4P title is all about.
Boxing is a business first then a sport second. You must realise this. Seriously. Why would anybody move up two weight classes to fight a guy who brings very little to the table in terms of marketability who is much bigger than you, instead of fighting a guy just one weight class above you who brings a lot more to the table and is a much easier fight? That would just be stupid. Floyd has proven himself over and over again. He has no reason to fight Sergio Martinez. His legacy is already secure and with or without Pacquiao and Martinez he is still going to go down as by far the greatest boxer of this era and one of the greatest in the history of the sport. He could fight Victor Ortiz again and he would still probably make more money than fighting Martinez because of Ortiz's Mexican fanbase.
Floyd is absolutley right when he says that he can't win with his critics and haters. Whoever he beats, there is always an excuse, and after he beats them there is always someone else around the corner who they claim he is "ducking". People need to accept the reality that he is entitled to fight whoever he wants and as boxing fans we should all appreciate that he always fights top competition, when they are on top of their game, on an even playing field. Which is a lot more than we can say for Manny "Stipulation-Man" Pacquiao.
Wrong floyd never fights the best available competition he ducks it. If he did Cotto, Margarito and Pac would already be on his resume and the boxing landscape would be different. but instead we all argue on a forum about it. thanks gayweather u rock.
Are his fans going to be satisfied with that. Or are ya'll finally gonna pull his pass card & demand that he man up & fight the legacy fight??
yeah he'll ***** out of course but the legacy fight is pacman and he' doing everything in his power to avoid that. a decent 160 pounder is a pipe dream and he'll wait for someone horrible to win a ibo belt if anything.

I would imagine Mayweather has positioned himself to be able to fight either Martinez or Pacquiao at this point, don't see why Alvarez is even being mentioned. At this stage of his career i honestly believe Canelo has less chance then Cotto.
Martinez has a date with Chavez for september..Not dirrell or Ward.
Great, I'm asking why he can't fight one of them? It was rhetorical, turbo got it right, though.
Ward or Dirrell will be available for September... Couldn't Martinez, who walks around at '75 fight one of them?

Martinez doesn't care about legacy. He wants the big money fight against the little guys.
Couldn't agree more, if it's pathetic for Mayweather to make business moves (even though he's fought legit opposition that the media even asked for), then it's pathetic of Martinez.
Canelo isnt ready yet for mayweather and i dont expect to see that fight next, but with martinez fighting in september i dont know how him and mayweather can get it on for november/december.
