Yes I understand what you mean.
But if we're gonna go really deep,he shouldn't have fought as low as 130 and 135 anyway,it was not healthy on the body, especially a guy with his frame.
But to me physically and mentally he was past his best.He looked like he checked out after the Casamayor rubbermatch after which he wanted to retire. That's another fight where to me he looked bad and not at his best.
all good... green is on the way...
i understand where you are coming from man...
but how much his "slowing down" is due to him being "way past it" and how much is it because of he really had no business at WW in the first place?
surely you know what i mean...

He'll be less dominant at 140 but I think he'll still be a force to be reckoned with. He beats Zab, goes to war with Alvarado and wins, A Peterson fight would be 50/50 and I would favor him over Khan but the fight would never happen.
Like Isaid maybe not ''done'' in the true sense. He would have been knocked out early if he was.But he had visibly slowed down and was even more easy to hit than usual.
That fight wasn't the only proof he was past it,his previous ones were aswell.

he got a beatdown because he was "done" as a fighter? clottey being a naturally bigger and more powerful guy has nothing to do with it?
cmon man, it was his FIRST fight at WW... how can we know for sure he was on the downside in his career with just a single fight 12 pounds north at LW?

Disagree,Chico was obvisouly past his best by the Clottey fight. He got a beating that night.
Maybe ''shot'' is overused but he was obviously on the downside of his career by that point.

For his sake, I hope he could stay at 140 where he could be a player but at 147 it would be "Rios who?" IMO. Out of the top 10 147 lbers who can he possibly beat?
This^^^^. There's no way he'd make noise there. I'd question whether he could hack it with the elite at '40. He'd get that chin touched up by Matthysse, Maidana, even Judah. He'd certainly get outboxed and/or out brawled by Peterson and Guzman... even Guerrero. I honestly think dude has been avoiding '40 for a reason.
he didnt look shot at that fight with clottey... he was competetive and was trying really hard to win...
difficult to say if he was "done" really... with just one fight?
but i really think he was just simply overpowered by a naturally bigger clottey... JMO...

Is there a weigh in where he'll have to be a certain weight in the morn??
No idea... But don't they have those weigh ins during camp like they did with Canelo and Mosley to see where they are?
corrales was done as a fighter by then the castillo fights made certain of that
maybe with the right regiment he'll maintain his strenght and not having to drain himself actually be effective but more like take the biggest paydays he can get at whatever weight bcse his shelf life is ticking

I'll just copy/paste what I posted on a related thread:
I just finished saying something like this in the other thread.
According to The Ring, Rios was only fined $45k which is absolutely horsesh1t. Is he paying Abril as well on top of those $45k? Or is the fine going to Abril?
Lol my bad I couldn't resist.

then go the corrales and mosley route skipping JWW straight to WW...
problem is, will he bring all the advantages he had at LW over at WW?
mosley did bring some... it was enough for a while but what those twin losses to vernon tells us?
and chico? he looked out of place there in his fight with clottey... clottey was just too strong for him...
with that said... who knows? rios might prove to be a genuine WW afterall...
