If Cotto fought Tony the 1st time like he did the 2nd time, he would have won..

Margarito was also impacted by losing his eye for most of the fight. Which is the direct result of his eye injury from his previous fight. It played a big factor, and it's impossible to say for sure how the fight would have gone had his eye not closed from trauma on an eye that had just had work/healed. Cotto's mistake in the first fight was that he thought he could stop Marg. He also got his nose busted in the 2nd which affected his breathing and stamina. And like you said he never clinched, pushed and spoiled. Straight after the first fight I knew if there was a rematch Cotto would win. That basically sums it up.

We dont know if Tony had loaded gloves or not.. But if Cotto turned, stayed off the ropes and clinched like he did in the rematch he would have hung on for a decision imo.. So stop using loaded gloves as an excuse.. They are tied 1-1 as far as Im concerned.. this is somewhat agreeable as even before the second fight I sae cotto having more upside than margarito... but we can only imagine the extent of the damage of a loaded glove in an actual fight...

Cotto can't see uppercuts...Tony's slow-motion as.s was landing TRIPPLE uppercuts. This fight was much different, wasn't it...Cotto didn't get trapped in the ropes, no vicious uppercuts like the 1st fight, Cotto stayed off the ropes, he kept moving laterally, turning tony, landing pricise combos, staying on the move to avoid getting pressured, even pressureing Tony, pushing him back. So yeah, Cotto learned. (in response to your response to me about Cotto not learning) What did Tony learn? He didn't even bother to protect his eye, he never learned to box properly, never learned good defense, he wouldn't listen to his corner screaming at him to STOP following Cotto around, to cut off the ring, Tony didn't learn that, Basically Tony didn't learn anything, or do anything different, but Cotto fought a completely different fight. Tony learned he lost the fight... the end. :boxing:

Cotto had learned from the first fight, Marg doesn't learn. Exactly...Garcia was blasting Tony for following Cotto around like a puppy dog, urging him to cut off the ring, but no...Tony don't learn. He didn't even bother protecting his eye! Tony had quite a bit going for him early in his career, most dudes didn't want nothing to do with him. But ring smarts Tony never really had. Just a face first, come forward volume puncher, that's it. He didn't know how to box properly and never bothered to learn. Gacia kept telling Tony to cut off the ring. Tony doesn't know how. That's how he allowed Cotto to keep turning Tony to pot shot him with precise combos throughout the fight.

I don't want to see a rubber match. No need. Besides, too much damage to that eye. Marg shouldn't even be fighting anymore. He really doesn't care about his health. What Cotto was doing to him in 9 rounds, Margo wasn't going to do anything else to win that fight. If anything Cotto might have permently damaged that eye. As it is, it recieved 81-82 shots. Rd 9, Cotto landed 50% of his shots, nice combos, landing more counting those hard jabs. Besides, Cotto won't give it to him. It could be sweeter only if Cotto ko'd Tony.

HBO should've got Margarito to take a lie detector test for their 24/7. Had he refused, that would've been as much confirmation as him failing the actual test.
